Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this friendly and well run show. A huge thank you to all the exhibitors for the pleasure of their lovely dogs on such a wet and damp day.

Basenji

Puppy (1,0)

1. Hallam, Kite, Gillespie & Owen - Am Ch Klassic’s Springwillow For Wente

There is so much to admire about this 11-month-old red and white bitch. Thought her to be very smart with a lovely silhouette when standing. Her head is developing nicely, featuring dark almond-shaped eyes, hooded ears, and a keen, alert expression. She has a long, crested neck that flows into a well-maintained topline and a tightly curled tail. Her chest extends down to the elbow, showing a nice fill in. While she needs to settle a little more on the move, she carries herself beautifully with a regal air. BP

1. Hallam, Kite, Gillespie - Ch/Am Ch Klassic’s Cloudside Walker (Imp USA)

I was very impressed with the outline of this 2-year-old red and white dog. He has a good length of leg, which gives him balance and an aristocratic appearance. I liked his head, which is nicely tapered and well-chiselled, with hooded ears and good wrinkle. He is well developed through the body, showing a strong topline and a well-curled tail. His fine-boned limbs carried him effortlessly around the ring with an easy side gait. BOB - I was delighted to watch him go on to win Best in Show 4.

Saluki

Puppy (1,0)

1. Mrs Sanders Parker - Heart & Soul JP Northern Dancer At Classicus (IMP JPN)

8-month-old cream dog has appealing overall balance and proportions. While he isn’t quite as polished as his sister, there is much to admire about him. He has a masculine head that is long and narrow, with well placed ears, dark eyes, with good pigmentation. His limbs are well-boned, leading to nicely arched toes. He maintains the correct topline both when standing and in motion, although he currently tends to carry his tail a little high at present. Today not quite the same fluidity as his sister on the move.

Post Graduate (4,2)

1. Mrs Sanders Parker - Heart & Soul JP Nashwa Classicus (IMP JPN)

Lovely 8-month-old cream bitch showing herself off with elegance and grace. She has a balanced outline and is in excellent condition. Her head is long and elegant, with large dark oval eyes that convey a gentle expression. There is good depth and length to her brisket, though she still needs to finish developing in the front, with a well-defined cut-up. She moves beautifully, displaying a smooth, flowing gait and good tail carriage. She was a strong contender for top awards. - BP

2. Miss Hodge - Ravensett Estera

Liked the outline of this B/F Red bitch, she is elegant and very feminine. Her head is long and narrow, with a slight stop and dark expressive, oval eyes. She has a good length of neck, although it is a bit narrow in front. There is good depth to her brisket and a slight arch over her loin. Her hindquarters are strong and muscular. While she moves lightly, she did not hold her outline as well as the winner today.

Limit (4,0)

1. Mr & Mrs Davies - Zafaraniyeh Dashte Kavir

Two-year-old B/F fawn bitch shows beautiful poise and is full of quality, showing graceful, flowing lines. She has the most feminine head, well-proportioned with good length, expressive dark oval eyes, and nicely feathered ears that are well-placed. Her neck is long, and she has a decent fill in her forechest, along with straight, well-boned limbs. She maintains her topline both when standing and in motion. She is shown in excellent condition with impressive muscle tone. Her movement is light and purposeful, all while keeping her graceful outline. - BOB

2. Mrs Dugdale - Gayledale Hurricane Of Hera

2-year-old parti-coloured bitch with a feminine head that has a long and narrow appearance. She has large, dark, oval eyes that give her a dignified and gentle expression. Her neck is of good length, but her forechest doesn't quite match that of the winner. She exhibits moderate angulation and her topline shows a slight arch over the loin, which is a fraction longer. Her hindquarters are strong and muscular, and she makes excellent use of them when moving, demonstrating light and effortless drive.

3. Hamilton, Garratt & Oakley - Caryna Oberon

Open (2,0)

1. Mr & Mrs Davies - Zafaraniyeh Dashte Margo

2-year-old B&T bitch, litter sister to the limit winner. She is another with much to admire, and the decision between the two was very close. She has a clean outline, with one part flowing seamlessly into the next. Her head is nicely balanced and feminine, with parallel planes and of good length. She has a good reach of neck, moderate angulation, and nice fill in the forechest, along with depth to the brisket. She moved out with good footfall, although today preferred the flow of her sister. Another day, the positions could easily be reversed.

2. Mrs Ward - Caryna Manantena At Backtor.

6-year-old B/F fawn dog who possesses masculine strength while still maintaining an elegant appearance. He has a lovely head with parallel planes, a slight stop, clean cheeks, and a good length of muzzle, along with large dark oval eyes that convey a soft and gentle expression. His strong, muscular neck is of good length, and he stands on well-boned limbs and feet with long toes. He has depth to his brisket and a slight arch over his loin, though his croup is a bit steeper. His hindquarters are strong and muscular, and he demonstrates a purposeful side gait.

Sloughi

Post Graduate (1,0)

1. Atkinson & Godfrey - Al’Karim Origen Charm At Longhedge (IMP SVK)

Pleasing, squarely proportioned 18-month-old dog, black mantle with sand points. He has a solid build with a good flat bone, while still maintaining an elegant and graceful appearance. I appreciate his long, wedge-shaped head, lovely dark eyes, and neat, flat ears, which contribute to his desired wistful expression. He has a good neck length, correct depth to the brisket, and a nice tuck-up. He is shown in excellent muscular tone, moving with a smooth side gait and accurate movement from behind - BOB

1. Atkinson & Godfrey - Gwasila Nuri Al Baida At Longhedge (IMP DEU)

6 year old brindle dog who showed himself off to advantage. Close decision between these hounds as they are quite different but with many fine qualities. Balanced head, good length of neck, slightly more spring to the ribs, with a good fill in of forechest. Standing on limbs with good flat bone. Moderate in his angulation fore and aft. Moving out well in all directions. Today preferring the head of his kennel mate - RBOB
