Premier Open Show – Thursday 12th June 2025

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this lovely premier open show. A well supported show on a week day. It was a very hot and sticky day in the arena, so thank you to all the exhibitors for the pleasure of your lovely dogs.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Junior (1,0)

1. Mr & Mrs Asker - Dazmarnic Skadoosh

11 month old R&W dog, who shows good overall balance, with super bone and substance all through. Pleasing head, with a good width to the back skull, muzzle strong and deep with a dark round eye. Well developed in the body with a good spring to the ribs and short in loin. On the move just a little loose in front today, showing good drive in profile. - BP

Post Graduate (3,2)

1. Mr & Mrs Jefferson - Alport No Surrender

Very feminine Bl/Br bitch coming up 3 years of age. So much to admire on the bitch, she has strength but no mistaking her gender. Well balanced head, with a good width to the skull, neat ears, lovely dark round eyes, and well developed cheeks. She has good width and depth of chest, with a nice spring to the ribcage. Holding a firm level topline and strong hindquarters. She has a lovely side gait, but felt she was not as tidy behind today. Well handled and presented.

1. Rowe & South - Illori Constellation JW

Fit and muscular Bl/Br bitch coming up 4 years of age. Who presented a pleasing outline on the stack, she has a little more length of leg. Strength all through but is very agile and put down in super condition. Her head shows good balance with depth and strength to the muzzle and a good underjaw. Lovely dark round keen eyes. She has a nice flow to her outline, holding a firm level topline, with a good ribcage. Adequate hindquarters, with hocks well let down. Moving out cleanly behind with good drive, and holding her outline in profile - RBOB

So much to admire on this 3 year old bl/br dog. He is a well formed powerhouse of a dog. Strong and muscular with good overall balance and sound construction. Strong but clean head, showing good depth, lovely dark inquisitive eye, neat rose ears, and strength to the muzzle. Well developed in front, with depth and width to the chest and standing on well boned limbs and well padded feet. Holding a firm level topline with strong wide quarters. Moving cleanly and with drive. Put down in super coat and condition - BOB

2. Rowe & South - Illori Akinlana JW ShCM VW

Wow, this dog is defying time, hard to believe he is nearly 11 years old. Lovely bl/br & white boy with just a smattering of grey on the muzzle. He still looks a picture stood. Masculine head with good width and depth, lovely dark eye. Good length of neck, and chest is well let down. Nicley angulated hindquarters and low set hocks. Driving around the ring, but not quite as tidy as winner behind

10 month old grey dog, who was giving his handler a bit of a tough time. Certainly living up to the ‘lively’ element of the standard! Showing a squarish outline when stood. He has a pleasing head, a lovely dark eye and pigmentation, with well placed pendant ears. Neck well set on, and a firm level topline. Liked his well developed ribcage and short loin. A little unsettled on the move today – RBOB & BP

Pleasing outline on this 22 month old fawn dog. When stood he shows to be fairly square and nicely balanced. Masculine head, with good ratios and well defined stop. His eyes are dark with good pigmentation. Muscular neck into a firm well held topline. Good depth to the brisket and well sprung ribcage. Showing the typical short-stepping movement. Cords nicely developing - BOB

1. Mrs Johns - Breezelyn Ears A Top Tip At Alepenkye

Pleasing outline on this 4 year old grey bitch, she is of a nice size and presents a fairly square profile. Feminine head, of good proportions, with slight stop and a dark mischievous eye. Moderate length of neck to her high withers and holding a firm topline. Ribcage shows a slight rounding, with good depth. Moderated hindquarters and low set hocks. Raring to go on the move and showed a short stride in profile, not quite as tidy as her kennel mate fore and aft today. Presented with a crisp coat texture - RBOB

2. Pike & Carter - Breezelyn Ears A Cracker

Grey dog coming up 5 years of age, liked his overall square outline, with a good length of leg. Masculine head, with a dark oval eye, and high set ears, with the top third tipping over. Clean neck into high withers and firm topline to a high set tail showing a circle. Would like a fraction more rear angulation, low set hocks and tight feet. Today tending to move a little wider in front, but holding his outline in profile

1. Mrs Johns - Breezelyn Ears A Breakthrou For Alepenkye

Fell for this 3 year old dark grey bitch, she showed herself with such confidence and joie de vivre. When stood shows to have a square outline and of a nice size. Well proportioned feminine head, long with a slight stop, lovely dark expressive eyes, dark pigmentation and well used, high set tipping ears. Medium length to the neck flowing into high withers and a firm topline, ribs with the right amount of spring and down to the elbow. She has a lightness to her movement, with good head carriage, clean in front, a shade closer behind. Presented with a dense coat with a nice curl and crisp texture - BOB

2. Pike & Carter - Breezelyn Ears A Good Un

Full of character and eager to go. Much to admire on this black 5 year old bitch. Shown in a shorter coat, but can see the denseness and texture. She has a good length of leg giving balance. Liked her head shape, with a good length, slight stop and dark eye and pigmentation, ears a fraction lower set. Medium length of neck, tending to roach her topline today, correct spring to the ribcage, not quite to the elbow. She showed her lively demeanour on the move, lovely rear movement true and clean, just not holding her outline in profile.

1. Mrs Peacock-Jackson - Danga’s Sune Jamesson At Kirkholme (Imp Swe)

7 month old grey dog puppy, loved his alert and attentive demeanour. Liked his overall body proportioned on the stack, still needing to mature as you would expect. Most appealing head and expression, erect mobile ears, dark oval eye showing the lighter hair around the eyes. Good length of neck, tending to run up in his topline at present, good depth to the brisket and standing on well boned limbs onto oval feet. Moving out freely with a good front action – BP & RBOB

2. Dr & Mrs Chaplain - Aescwine Cor Blimey

Another very promising puppy, just he did not have his mind on the job today which spoilt his movement. Liked his overall shape, size and substance. Masculine head, giving the blunt wedge shape, and a dark oval eye. Strong neck of good length, another just needing to settle into his topline, well developed through the body with strong hindquarters. Unfortunately rather erratic on the move today

1. Miss Amon - Pepperthyme Wild Fire

Smart bitch coming up 3 years of age, she has the desired sturdiness but retains her femininity. She shows herself off with confidence and style, whilst being at one with her handler. She has a clean wedge head, well placed ears and dark eyes. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline to full tail. Liked her depth and development of forechest. Strong hindquarters used to drive around the ring - BOB

2. Dr & Mrs Chaplain - Ruserns Riff Raff

2 year old dog with a lovely nature, just wanting to play with everyone, when he concentrates he presents a pleasing outline. His head is a long wedge shape, with a dark oval eye with the lighter hair around the eyes, and pricked mobile ears. Strong neck of good length, holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Muscular hindquarters, preferred bend of stifle of winner today. Not as settled in his movement

Much to admire on this 8 month old shaded red dog puppy, he holds a lovely outline when stood, with a lovely flow to his topline. Masculine head, with a dark almond shaped kind eye and dark pigmentation. Long clean neck flowing into a firm level topline. Well developed in forechest, with depth to the brisket and ribs carried well back. He stands on well boned limbs and tight feet. Free flowing side gait, still needing to tighten a little more behind. Well presented and shown to take BP & HP Group 4

1. Mr Cross - Breezelyn Long Way To Go To Loggeta

2 year old shaded red dog, he has masculine elegance with lovely substance. His body lines are graceful and flowing. Balanced head shape with a super expression from his dark almond eyes and high set ears. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline. Well made all through with good depth to the brisket and prominent prosternum, and the ribcage is carried well back, strong hammy quarters. Moving out cleanly coming and going. Beautifully presented with a soft and straight jacket. Thought he would be one of my top awards, but seemed to flag in the final challenge

2. Mr & Mrs Paskins - Kindeace You Wear It Well

2 year old darker shaded red bitch, liked her overall stamp and outline. Very pretty head, well shaped with a lovely dark eye and pigmentation. Liked her depth to the brisket with well sprung ribcage, today preferring the fore and aft angulation of winner. She holds a good topline both stood and on the move. A little in her underwear today, but this did not detract from the overall picture.

1. Mr & Mrs Paskins - Kindeace Texas Ranger ShCEx

Mature and in full bloom this 5 year old shaded red dog showed himself off with confidence and style. A little more of him all round, but still very balanced, with good ground clearance. Masculine head, with a lovely expression, dark well shaped eyes, high set ears and neat flews, thought him so keen and alert to his handler. Good length of neck, well developed in front, well sprung ribcage and strong hammy quarters. Using his quarters well to drive around the ring, just not as firm in topline as the BOB winner today. Put down in lovely coat and condition- RBOB

2. Pike & Carter - Breezelyn Longing For Love

Very pretty 2 year old shaded red bitch, who put on a good performance, close up to winner. Very feminine head. Good reach of neck, which flows into her topline. Liked her depth and well developed forequarters, ribbing carried well back with a good spring to the ribcage. Corresponding angulation fore and aft. Moving well, not quite the drive of winner today and tending to fly her tail a fraction. Beautifully presented in gleaming coat and firm condition.

Just fell for this 8 year old shaded red bitch. Thought she looked a picture stood and with lovely balance and proportions. She has such a shapely silhouette on the stack. Long feminine head, nicely tapering, with a dark eye and high set ears framing her face. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline. Well developed through the body, with good angulation fore and aft. Moving out with a long free stride, being clean and true front and back. Another presented in first class coat and condition. BOB – such a shame she became unsound in the group

2. Mr & Mrs Paskins - Cedavoch It’s Taboo At Kindeace

Another pleasing veteran, 7 year old shaded red dog. Showing good balance and proportions. Masculine head, with a pleasing expression from his dark eyes. Good length of neck, but carrying a fraction more condition over his shoulders today. Well developed through the body, with a good ribcage and firm topline. Standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. Not quite the movement of winner today, but holding his outline with a firm topline.

Clean shape on this 2 year old shaded red dog, giving a pleasing outline. He has a lovely natural stance to show himself off to advantage. Handsome head, with a lovely expression. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline. Well developed in front with good ground clearance. Wide quarters which he put to effective use on the move, not quite as settled in front today. Shown in lovely condition

This 4 year old b/t dog certainly knows how to make his presence felt, what a little show off, he struts into the ring, happy and outgoing. When stood he presents a lovely silhouette, with clean flowing lines. Quality head with such expressive dark almond shaped eyes giving an appealing expression. Good length of neck, well developed through the body, with a good forechest and holding a firm topline. Free flowing on the move, holding his outline with a good tail carriage - BOB

2. Mrs Gaskin - Ir Ch Hampdach I Am The One And Only At Dovestream

Nicely balanced 2 year old shaded red dog, and litter brother to limit winner. Again much to admire on this dog, he shows good overall balance, with good ground clearance. Masculine head, conical and tapering, with a dark almond eye and dark pigmentation, his ears are high set. Lengthy neck flowing into a firm topline. Deep in brisket and clean in front. Strong hindquarters, just not quite the drive of winner on the move - RBOB

What a sweetie, at just 6 months of age, and at her first show, this red bitch was taking it all in her stride. All still to come together, but it is all there. She has a pleasing outline showing good overall balance. Sweet feminine head. Good length of neck, nicely developed in her forequarters and standing on well boned limbs. Ribcage is well sprung, just a little soft in topline at present. Good width to her quarters. Positive on the move – BP & RBOB

Fully mature 6 year old dog, liked his overall stamp and proportions. Full of character and showed himself off. Liked his head, nicely balanced conical and tapering, with a lovely dark almond eye and broad high set ears framing his face. Good length of neck, with a well developed forechest, a little softer in topline today. Strong hammy quarters, which were put to beneficial use to drive around the ring. Presented with a good coat texture – BOB

Pleasing outline and size on this 12 month old cream bitch. Today a little unsure of her surroundings, but her handler getting the best out of her. When stood she presents a balanced picture with a nice flow to her topline. Feminine head, with a dark eye, good length of neck, holding a firm topline, with a good spring to the ribs, just needs to finish maturing. Moving out with width behind and holding her shape.

Very smart shaded cream bitch who is coming up 4 years of age, and presented a pleasing outline on the stack, with good proportions and clearance. Feminine head, ears a little lower set, dark eye and pigmentation. She has a lovely flow through the neck and topline, which is firm and well held. Liked her forequarters, prominent breast bone, deep and with a good ribcage, which is carried well back. Strong hindquarters, with a good width to the thigh. Moving out well with a ground covering action – BOB

Promising 9 month old red brindle dog, liked his overall shape and balance when stacked. He has a nice flow to his topline. Head developing nicely, well shaped with a lovely dark eye. Good length of neck, holding a firm in topline both stood and on the move, with the ribs carried well back. Good hindquarters, with wide quarters. Moving out well once settled. - BP

18 month old black & tan dog, a balanced youngster of good proportions. Liked his head, nicely tapering with the darkest of eyes. Good length to his neck flowing into a firm topline, lovely clean front with well boned limbs and tight feet. Ribcage carried well back and strong hindquarters. Moving out well.

2. Ms Foley - Loggeta Lucky Swirl At Clavennae

Pleasing 19 month old red brindle bitch, liked her overall proportions, with much to admire. Feminine and balanced head, with a lovely expression. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline, and her ribs are nicely sprung. Just preferring the front of the winner. Moving out well

3 year old red brindle dog, who has a lovely flow to his outline and showing good overall balance and proportions. Pleasing masculine head, with a good length to the foreface, and nicely tapering, high set ears lying close to the head to frame the face, and a dark eye. Good length of neck, well developed in front, and holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Moved with drive with a good head and tail carriage – RBOB

Really liked this 8 year old red bitch, she carries herself well both stood and on the move. She has a shapely outline, with nothing overdone and good clearance. Such a feminine houndlike head, conical in shape and nicely tapering, and dark expressive eyes. Good length of neck seamlessly flowing into a well held topline and tail set. She is well developed in forechest, and her ribs are carried well back. Strong hammy quarters, which she put to good use on the move, to drive from the rear and covered the ground – BOB

Sweet Black & Tan baby at only 8 months old, a little unsure on the table but soon gained his confidence to show himself off. He has a pleasing outline when stood once relaxed. Good head shape, long and tapering, high set ears and a dark eye. Good length of neck, chest developing nicely, holding a good topline and underline. Standing on well boned limbs. Holding his outline on the move. Presented in good coat - BP

Liked the overall balance and ratios of this.16 month old wild boar dog. Masculine head, with a lovely dark eye giving a kind expression. Well developed through the body, with good ribbing. He has balanced angulation fore and aft. Strong and hammy quarters. Moving out soundly, liked his happy and outgoing demeanour, just not quite the topline of the winner today. Well presented and handled - RBOB

3 year old wild boar bitch, liked her overall size and proportions, nothing is overdone. Appealing head shape, with a dark eye and high set ears lying close to the cheek. Good length of neck, she appealed for her well developed forequarters, with a well sprung ribcage, the ribs carried well back. Today not quite holding her topline on the move. Lovely hindquarters, which corresponds to her front. Moving with drive from the rear. Good coat texture

Lovely 8 ½ year old brindle bitch, who looked a picture on the stack. She has a lovely flow with one part flowing into the next. Nothing is overdone and she has good ground clearance. Honest and balanced all through. Good head and expression. Clean neck flowing into a firm level topline, well developed in front with a good ribcage. She came alive on the move, striding out purposefully and with drive - BOB

2. Mrs Grant - Granhoward Patience

Litter sister to winner of limit. Liked the overall stamp of this bitch, thought she had good proportions, but today she did not show herself off on the move. Thought she had a pleasing head, conical and tapering with a lovely oval eye. Decent length of neck, well developed in front with a good keel, carrying a fraction more weight but holding a firm topline. Moderate hindquarters. Shown in good coat. Not quite the movement today of winner

Pleasing body lines on this 2 year old grey bitch, elegant with the desired strength. Feminine head, with a flat skull, and muzzle of good length, dark eye with a gentle expression and neat high set ears. Good length of neck, and decent depth to the brisket. Holding a good topline with a gentle rise over the loin. Liked her strong wide quarters. She is so light on her feet and positive in her footfall – RBOB and Best RBOB in group

4 year old grey male with lovely substance and bone. Thought he had an appealing head and expression. Good length of neck, and pleasing depth to the brisket, a fraction longer in loin. Liked his rear assembly, with a good width of thigh and bend to the stifle. Presented in a harsh textured jacket. Moving cleanly

Lovely bitch showing good overall proportions and balance. She is graceful with a pleasing amount of substance. Most feminine of heads, of good proportions with a dark eye, giving a soft and gentle expression. Neck of good length with strength, flowing into a well held topline showing a slight arch over the loin, and droop . Chest is well let down and nicely ribbed. She stands on well boned limbs. Moving with and easy and light stride – BOB

Upstanding red brindle bitch coming up 2 years of age. She presented a curvy and flowing outline when stood, and graceful in her demeanour. She has a lovely long head, with a slight stop and neat rose ears. Her neck is muscular and flows into a well held topline. Good depth to the brisket with a good topline and underline. Moving out well in profile - BOB

Very smart and typey 17 month old R&W Basenji bitch. So much to like on this youngster, she has lovely body lines and is balanced and unexaggerated. Lovely head, nicely proportioned, clean with good wrinkle, dark inquisitive almond eyes and small hooded ears. She has a flow to her topline, which is firm and level ending with a tightly curled high set tail. Nicely filled in in-front with good depth. Moving out cleanly in all directions. Close up for top awards

Litter brother to SY winner, another quality R&W Basenji dog, who has a pleasing square outline with a good length of leg. But today being a typical teenage boy and playing his handler up! Masculine head, dark eye, good wrinkle and well used hooded ears. Well developed through the body with a firm topline. He is a pleasure to watch in his profile movement so free with a swinging stride, not as tidy in front today

Wow, just loved her, she is just delightful, one that would stand out in any crowd. And she did not disappoint when going over her or on the move. A top quality hound from every angle. Beautifully put together, this 3 year old dark grey wolfhound bitch has a natural presence about her with lovely poise and flowing lines. Most feminine of heads, long strong neck flowing into a firm topline, deep in brisket, super substance and bone, strong wide quarters. I could watch her move all day, with her easy stride and excellent footfall. BAVNSC & Hound Group 1

Upstanding and noble Borzoi dog coming up 6 years of age. He presents a shapely silhouette and put down in lovely coat and condition. When stood he shows the desired outline. His head is long with the desired roman nose, dark almond shaped eye and neat delicate ears. Good length of neck, chest well let down, topline graceful with a nice rise and correct fallaway. Moving out cleanly and effortlessly. RBAVNSC

Most appealing 7 year old Brindle with white trim whippet dog, so clean and curvy in his profile. Masculine head, showing to be nicely balanced, dark oval eyes and dark pigmentation, slight stop all giving a gentle expression. Neck long and slightly arched, chest well let down and nicely filled in in-front. Straight forelegs with quality bladed bone. Good topline and underline. Moved with purpose and positive in his footfall. Presented in lovely firm condition

This 7 year old tricoloured GBGV bitch, showed herself off to advantage on the move, with a lovely head carriage. Liked her overall shape and proportions. Feminine head with good length, large dark oval eyes, and long fine ears framing her face. Holding a firm level topline with a well set on and carried tail. Well developed through the body. Presented with a rough texture to the jacket

Lovely hindquarters, showing a good bend of stifle and in good muscular condition.
