Many thanks to the committee for the kind invitation to judge at this very popular show and their first-class hospitality on the day. Some breeds I was judging for the first time and was delighted with the quality of exhibits across all breeds. My thanks to my excellent steward who helped us all battle through the unpredictable weather conditions and to the exhibitors for their patience.

Labrador Retriever bitch, I was amazed to find this bitch holds her title at the tender age of 21 months in such a numerically competitive breed! I thought she was captivating from nose to tail possessing the desired substance, balance and style that makes a ‘great’ one. Typical head shape in profile being clean with breadth to her skull, dark eyes and a kind expression. Super bone and feet. Well laid shoulders with excellent return of upper arm. Well sprung ribs with a firm topline and underline. Powerful hindquarters with wide thighs, well bent stifles and firm hocks. All wrapped in an excellent coat with a thick otter tail to finish the picture. Absolutely true on the move, covering the ground with minimal effort. Presented in top condition with the right amount of weight.
