Newton Abbot & South Devon Canine Society

I would like to thank Newton Abbot and South Devon Canine Society for the kind invitation to judge. This was my first time officiating for the breeds scheduled as well as the handling classes, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My thanks also go to the committee for their warm hospitality, the venue for an excellent lunch, and to my two efficient stewards who kept the ring running smoothly. I was extremely pleased with the overall quality of both my dog and handling entries and would like to thank all exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me. I did not find any major faults in the dogs on the day and was delighted with the standard presented.

Large Munsterlander: PG (4,0) 1 Wakefield's WONGLEPONG WILLOWS SUNBIRD. At 11 years old this B is a real credit to her owner, looking fantastic for a veteran. Pleasing general appearance with sound movement. A lovely example of the breed. 2 Caile's KAMAZE'S DANCING QUEEN. 17-month-old B of quality with attractive head and skull. Clean forequarters and nice outline. A touch finer in bone than I would prefer, but still very much a youngster and should mature on well. 3 Wakefield's LERITON LUPUS. BPIB O (2,0) 1 Disney's KAMAZE DANCE IN THE DARK. 3-year-old B of excellent quality. Super head and skull with correct mouth, strong body and good tail set. Lovely temperament. Very good movement, covering the ground with ease. A really pleasing exhibit overall. BOB 2 Wakefield's EKKOLANDER MERLOT. 4-year-old D. Head and skull acceptable, though ear placing not his strongest feature. A little fine in bone and body, needing more substance to complete the picture. Unsettled on the move today.
