Best In Show

Many thanks to Martin Sanders and his committee for their hospitality. This was a well run shown and worked well despite the inclement weather. My fellow judges had put through an excellent line up for me to judge for Best in show. It was actually one of the best open Show essential line ups I have seen. Similarly, I had an excellent selection of puppies and veterans. A very satisfying trip to my home country.

After due consideration Best in show was awarded to the curly coat retriever. Brightmeadow Rumour Hs It JW. This black male I judged as a puppy in the summer and made him BPIS. Today my opinion of him is unchanged. Now more mature he is an upstanding male who is totally balanced through. Correct head shape and proportions, he has a lovely dark oval eye and well set ears that complete his expression. Super forehand, good depth of chest and well sprung. Good strong pastern and the best of feet. Good topline and tail set. Correct under line. Strong hindquarters with correct angulation. In super hard condition and his coat at this age is faultless and is exactly as required, thick with small tight curls of correct texture. He put on a faultless performance, and I think he has a very bright future. Reserve was the young Japanese chin. Jaschin Paw Star. Another youngster who today was already more than capable winning against more mature dogs. B/W who appealed for his overall size and shape. Lovely cobby chin with good breadth of skull which is nicely rounded and of good size. Good large eyes which are typical for the breed giving him that desired astonished expression. Nicely cushioned muzzle. This dog is square and cobby and has the correct topline with high set well plumed tail. Nice fine bone with neat hare shaped foot. Well angulated rear. In full bloom. A lovely mover. I liked him a lot and I think when he matures will be one for the upper house.

BPIS Tervanty DrgonSong at Palmik. Enchanting young whippet bitch who stood out for her overall balance and shape. Pleasing head of good length and with good strength of underjaw. Good length of neck which is nicely arched and leads into well laid shoulders with correct flat muscle. She has a very correct front assembly and is well boned. Topline is correct and not in any way excessive. Well made hindquarters which already are well muscled with well developed second thigh. She is nicely angulated but pleasingly, unlike many, she is not over angulated, a significant fault in my book. She uses her rear well and her foot fall is very correct. I loved her RBIPS. State Park In Linjor. Yellow male of quality. Appealed for his balance and overall shape. This male has a quality head which still has some maturing to do but is of correct proportions and the breadth is there, however he is not overdone in any way. Good neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of chest, well ribbed and of excellent bone and feet. Level topline. Short tail of nice thickness and well clothed. Super double coat with thick undercoat evident. Moves with good drive and good reach in the front.

BVIS. Saluki. Ch/Aus Ch Crisnick Houdini. Really beautifully shaped hound who defies his age. Classical head. Beautiful neck and shoulder. Super outline and excellent topline for a veteran. Beautiful hind quarters. Moved across the ring like a 2 year old with perfect footfall. In A1 condition and muscle tone. RBVIS Ch Bwthyn Headliner JW ScHCM ShCEx. Welsh Corgi (Cardigan). BOB earlier under me. Put in a strong performance here.

Neat well-placed ears of correct shape. Nice at the elbow. Pleasing bone and feet. Short enough, nicely coupled and level. Correct tail which is well set and correctly furnished. In good jacket. Moved away well but could be a little tidier on the return.

Open. 1. Leggatts Night Fever. Very smart male. Typical head with good eye and correct ear. Enough length of neck which is nicely arched. Neat front with good depth of chest. Good rib. This dog has the best of coats which is harsh to the touch. Good tail. For me he falls off a fraction at the rear if I am being hypercritical. Moves soundly. 2. Leggatts Jive Talkin. Another very typical Buhund. Much of the above attributes also apply to this typey bitch. Sound mover. Well made. I just preferred the jacket on the day on 1 and would prefer her eye to be a little less prominent.

Welsh Corgi (Pembroke)

Junior. Stadwen Lucia. Very raw young bitch. Type is there and it is evident she is quality, but just needs time. Head is still to fully break but is of ideal skull to muzzle proportions. Correct stop. Lovely eye of good colour and ears are correctly shaped and so well set. Nice neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest for her age, super bone and neat well arched foot. Good at the elbow. Well sprung with level topline, good strength of loin. Good bend of stifle. Correct coat and excellent undercoat. Moved well in all directions. I thought her quite smart. BP and BOB.2. Tycon Aint Miss Behavin. Pleasing for size and overall balance. Decent head and expression but I preferred the overall type of 1. Nice front assembly. Good length and level topline. Correct tail set. Needs to settle behind.

Post Graduate. 1. Stadwen Polly Garter. Tri bitch. Another young puppy who is raw and needs time. Pleasing head and expression. Good neck and shoulder. Well off for bone. Good topline and well set tail. Good depth and breadth of chest. In decent jacket. Won here on her length of leg and style on the go around. 2. Arcanedale Violet Skies with Ceranda. S/W. Super feminine bitch. Another with a pleasing head and expression. Good front assembly. Nice spring of rib. Not quite the topline of the first placed bitch. Has super parallel movement and drive from behind which is a pleasure to see.

Open. Marvelguard Flower Fairy for Tycon. Heavier bitch. Super head and expression with lovely head proportions and good eye and ear. Pleasing front and topline. Has a super tail which is well set, covered and carried. Nice hind quarters. In good jacket. Moved well. For me there is just a bit too much of her.

Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)

What a super entry of Cardigans. Thank you.

Junior. 1. Joseter Ooh Betty at Ceranda. 16 month old. Impressed here for overall size and balance. Not helped by her ears markings which slightly detract from the overall picture, however pleasing head with good breadth of skull and skull to muzzle proportions. Nice eye. Good large ears which are correctly set. Nice neck into well laid shoulders. Well boned and typical front. Her feet are not her fortune, and some road work may help here. Good length and good topline. Lovely tail carried well. Moved with drive. 2. Gowerston Geriant of Caprian. Won here on his overall breed type and pleasing head with good eye and ear. Good neck and shoulder. Well made front with good width of chest and well developed sternum. Well ribbed up. Level. Good tail set and carriage. Well angulated rear. Good bone and feet. Well made front with good bone and the best of feet. Well ribbed with good well angulated rear. Moved well. 2. Gowerston Geriant of Caprian. Winner of second in junior.

Open. 1. Ch Bwthyn Headliner. No stranger to me. I have done this brindle male very well in the past. It is hard to believe when you see him move that he is 12 years of age. He is all male but in no way is he overdone. Good head with kind yet keen eye. Good sized ears which are correctly set and used well. Super front with good bone and feet. Well ribbed back. Nice hindquarters. Moved with drive and has good reach. Later RBVIS. 2. Caprian The Vixen JW. Second here but could easily win any strong class. Defying her 7 years of age, she exudes breed type and has the loveliest head with super eye, ideal overall proportions, good width of skull for a bitch and lovely ears. Good length of neck. Well ribbed and well ribbed back. Well developed sternum. Good topline. Well muscled rear. Moved very well. 1. Just had the edge in his front but she pushed him very hard. 3. Caprian Adrianna JW

AVNSC

Puppy. 1. Angelicus Sam Diablo Guapo. Samoyed. Impressive young Samoyed. I thought this young man a quality specimen. Has a good head with a lovely dark eye which is correctly set obliquely and with pigmented rims. Black lips. Good shaped thick ear. Strong neck into well laid shoulders. Has good length of leg. Needs to mature a little through body still. Super tail and moved very well. In good jacket.

Open. 1. Ch Domburg New Love at Willowfrost. I was delighted to have the super bitch in the AVNSC class. I loved her from my initial inspection. She is a quality BSD who appeals instantly for her overall balance. Good length of head which is perfectly balanced and clean in back skull. Correct head planes. Nice dark eye and well set ears of correct shape. Nicely angulated front. Square. Well sprung. Correct underline. Moderate rear. Lovely and light on her feet retaining topline. I thought her lovely and had no hesitation in giving her the pastoral group later in the day. 2.Brightmeadow Who Dares Wins. Middle of the road GSD. I have done this kennel well before with their GSDs. This is another quality male with abundance of qualities. For me today just a little down on his pasterns and showing his age a little on the move. 3. Geyneira Scarlet Witch.

AV Veteran.

Ch Bwthyn Headliner JW ScHCM ShCEx. Winner of BOB in Cardigans. 2. Zakaylia Guardian Angel. Samoyed. Much to like here. Of very good breed type with a very feminine head with good pigment, feminine yet without any loss of strength. Good front assembly with good bone and good feet of correct shape. Good depth of chest and well ribbed. Nice tail. For me she could have a fraction more length of leg for preference. Moved very soundly.

Shetland Sheepdog

Junior. 1. Phillhope Clearly Precious. Sable/White. Young bitch who still has some maturing to do but I really liked her for overall type and style. Has a pleasing head which is elegant and clean back. Good flat skull with well-placed small ears which she uses well. Dark eye correctly set obliquely. Excellent shoulder placement. Good front assembly. Nice bone and feet. Good depth of chest and has enough substance for her size. Well set tail. Moved well. Later in the puppy group she was not as robust as in the breed but did enough to annexe Puppy group 3 2. Heart of Love Manada De Grande At Dacfolke (IMP). B/W. Nice male. Quality through. Not an easy colour to see that desired expression, but this young dog has a really lovely head of good proportions and planes, correct eye shape and set and good ears which give him the desired look. Well made front. Correct topline and croup. Well set tail. IN good coat with good harsh top coat. Needs to settle a fraction in front action. 3. Cherkarl Blue Elegance.

Post Graduate. 1. Jakuza Basa Kosy at Dacfolke. Tri bitch. Another not helped by her markings. Nice for overall type. Nice shape and balance. Pleasing feminine head of good proportions and planes. Neat small ears which are well set. Lovely bone and feet. Well sprung. Good rear. Moved well. 2. Jalpic Pumkin. S/W. 5th in Junior Sound bitch on the move. Too much of her for me. Head of good length but would prefer a less deep stop. Neat ears. Dark eye. Well ribbed. Good hind angulation. Would benefit from less coat to adequately see her virtues.

Open. 1. Philhope Summer Highlights at Sherkarl. Won here on her overall shape and size. Head of good length, clean in back skull, correct overall proportions. Well set ears. Would prefer a less round eye for preference. Good neck and shoulder. Nice bone and feet. Correct topline. In good jacket. Moved typically. 2. Philhope Taste for Fashion. Similar to 1 in that she scores for size and is of good breed type. Scores in head and expression. Good front. Well ribbed. Just falls off a fraction too steeply at the croup. Moved ok. 3. Jalpic Pumkin.

CKCS

Puppy. 1. Charnell The Renegade Sancana. I have recently judged and critiqued this young man where I made him BP and BOB. My opinion has not changed, and I find him a smart Cavalier who is very promising.

Post Graduate. Amiryck Aubree of Verheyen. Tri. Pleasing head with a very gentle and sweet expression with good round dark eye of good size. Good ears and ear set. Would prefer more length of neck. Body proportions are correct although the excess coat does make her look a little short on leg, yet on handling she is correct. Good bone. Well ribbed with level topline. Moved ok. 2. Kinvaar Kataleena to Clemartill. Quality bitch. Nice overall proportions. Good head proportions and nice through the neck and shoulder. Well ribbed. Falls away a fraction at the croup. Moved well. Preferred the overall expression of 1.

Open. 1. RishtteI’m Tanisha of Remmya JW. Ruby who appealed for her overall shape and balance. Very nice head with super eye and ear. Correct flat skull and correct ear set. Good muzzle. Well developed lip, although would like a fraction more cushioning. Good neck into the best of shoulders. Good rib. Level. Good bone and super feet. Well angulated rear. Not dripping in coat which allows you to see her lovely body shape. Moved well. Pleaswed to see her annexe group 2 under a CKCS expert. Well done. 2. Javerdi Fleur Alyse. B/Tan. Close up with much to like. Lovely for type and overall shape. Lovely expression, even allowing for her markings, she is a fraction too deep in stop, otherwise a quality CKCS. 3. Babette Of An Excellent Choice at Clemartill JW.
