Birmingham & District Gundog & Terrier Club

Pointers

my only criticism is that quite a few exhibits carried tails far too high on the move and some almost straight up, tails should be carried level with the back and should “lash” from side to side. That said I was very happy with my principal winners and thank the exhibitors for their entries

Puppy, 2 1st Angus & O’Neills Tenshilling Catch the Wind, 8-month-old O/W dog whos head is developing nicely and had dark eyes. He was well off for forechest and depth. Correct bone and good substance. Moved well when settled and correct tail carriage BP

2nd O’Neills Tenshilling Hello Stranger litter brother to winner, B/W dog who is built on a larger frame. Well angled all through. Plenty of forechest and depth for his age. Level topline kept on the move although tail could be a little lower.

Junior 4 (1) 1st Saunders & Newtons Teisgol Calendula, O/W dog maturing as he should be. Good head planes with lovely eye and expression. Good length of neck, well placed shoulders he had depth of chest and moved out well, just need to settle on the move a bit to get that correct tail carriage RBOB

2nd Matthews Sonham Just Good Friends, L/W girl not as mature as my first but developing quite nicely. Dark eye giving a gentle expression, she is very feminine and has a clean neck into well placed shoulders, she stands on good legs and feet and was sound on the move just not as positive today as my first

Graduate 6 (1) 1st winner of previous class and was more settled and steady on the move

2nd, O’Neills Tenshilling Shboom, B/W dog just approaching 2years and maturing nicely. Attractive headpiece with slight dish, neck is well muscled and leads into well placed shoulders. Good spring of rib and plenty of depth, kept a good topline on the move and carried his tail correctly

Limit 2 (1) Webbs Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW. O/W boy who had a dark expressive eye, nicely balanced head. Good length of neck into correct shoulders. Would have preferred a little more bone, he had good forechest and enough depth. Moved soundly

Open 3, 1st O’Neills This O/W girl was my star of the day, she was balanced, elegant and had strength. Lovely head with a good eye which gave a lovely expression. Good reach of neck into correct layback of shoulder, she had a firm topline both stood and on the move, her tail was correct and she used it to her advantage. Moved with reach and drive BOB

2nd, Philo’s Sunhouse Black is Back at Salmonmist, B/W dog made on bigger lines than my first placed and well built all through. Good head with enough stop and well-developed flews. He had good depth to brisket and width of chest. Well developed bone. Moved well
