Puppy (1,0)

Marsh’s Dynatos Marvellous Maximus

A very promising 11-month-old fawn male puppy of excellent type and overall balance, presenting a very promising outline for his age.

His headpiece is a real highlight, being of good size and proportion with excellent pigment throughout. His expression is exactly as desired—soft, alert, and full of character—enhanced by his relatively large, dark, round eyes, which are clear, bright, and set well apart, giving that characteristic mischievous and intelligent outlook so essential in the breed. His muzzle is blunt, square, and well filled, with correct proportions and a notably wide lower jaw, completing a strong and balanced foreface. Particularly pleasing are his well-open nostrils, entirely free from obstruction by the nose roll, which itself is neat and not overdone—an important functional virtue.

He carries a slightly arched neck of good length, allowing for a proud and confident head carriage, contributing to his overall presence and typical “multum in parvo” impression. His forequarters are well constructed, with a good width of chest and well-developed brisket for his age, leading into a straight front with correct bone and neat, compact feet, finished with black nails as desired.

His body is textbook in proportion, being short, square, and cobby, with well-sprung ribs and a firm, level topline maintained both standing and on the move. He shows excellent depth of brisket, reaching the elbow, and was very pleasing to go over, being well-muscled and in firm condition and is clearly exercised regularly .

He has well-developed hindquarters with a good turn of stifle, allowing for correct drive. On the move, he is straight and true coming and going, displaying the typical free, jaunty gait of the breed, using himself well without exaggeration.

Temperament-wise, he is full of his own self importance, confidence, and personality, carrying himself with a delightful presence that commands attention. He clearly enjoys his time in the ring and projects that classic pug charisma.

Presented and handled well, he was a worthy Best Puppy and Best of Breed winner, and I was delighted to see him awarded PG2.

Marsh’s Dynatos Doing Her Thing

A very feminine bitch, only just out of puppy, yet already showing good maturity and development, with much to admire.

She possesses a glorious pretty headpiece. Her skull is nicely rounded without exaggeration, and she carries a soft, appealing expression, enhanced by dark, well-set eyes and good pigmentation throughout. Her muzzle is square and of correct length, with a well-defined stop and neat button ears, all contributing to a typical and attractive expression.

Her outline is balanced and correct, with a level topline held both standing and moving, and she stands on a straight front with adequate bone. She carries a high-set double curl tail, tight over the hip, which completes her silhouette.

Her movement is true and positive, going straight both ways, and she maintains her shape well on the move. She is presented in good coat and condition, with black nails completing the overall picture. She showed well for her handler and clearly wanted to please him.

Lloyd’s Bilohka Brigadier

A 3½-year-old male of clear masculinity and breed character, showing a mature and honest example of the breed.

He presents a well-balanced outline, being compact and cobby, with a firm level topline and good overall proportions. His tail is well set with a desirable double curl, adding to the completeness of his profile.

His head is masculine, with good pigment and typical expression, now showing a slight frosting on the muzzle but does not detract from his overall quality. His nostrils are open, supporting correct function, and he stands on a straight front with adequate bone.

He was presented in excellent condition, with a good coat and firm musculature. On the move, he was sound and steady, holding his shape well.

Particularly pleasing was the rapport between dog and handler, clearly a partnership built on mutual trust and enjoyment, which always enhances the overall presentation in the ring.
