Tibetan Spaniels

I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to Judge at their premier show, along with my stewards for keeping the ring running smoothly and effectively. Of course, I thank the exhibitors who entered and took my decisions with good grace.

1 & Best Puppy. Wallis Baga’s Miss B A & Miss J C: Velrok Indian Gold. 9-month-old dog who is coming along the right lines. Good outline with typical shape and head. Correct mouth, well set neck, good amount of bone and shoulders well laid back. Well sprung ribs with a level topline, correct ear and tail set and hare feet. Moved well and looked quite happy in the ring.

2 Wallis Baga’s Miss B A & Miss J C: Velrok Indian Diamond. 9-month-old dog and litter brother to the winner. Again, this boy is coming along in the right lines with the correct shape, outline and head. Correct mouth, good bone, well sprung ribs and level topline. Ear and tail set are pleasing and has hare feet. He was slightly more excitable on the move, but this is not an issue for one of this age.

1 & Reserve Best of Breed, Horton’s Mrs L & Mr N: Oldcharm Love to Love of Dixpat. 19-month-old dog. Although he stood alone, he did walk in as if he owned the ring. Presented beautifully and a lovely example of the breed. He was alert, with a typical Tibetan Spaniel attitude. Well balanced in outline, he has a pleasing head and expression, being masculine but not coarse. Eyes are set with dark rims and he has a correct mouth and ear set. The right amount of bone, good spring of rib and a level topline. Tail set and hare feet complete the picture. He moved positively and freely. It was a close run thing for Best of Breed.

1 & Best of Breed, Collett’s Mrs J & Mr E: Velrok Ringing Gold JW. 2 year old dog, a beautiful example of the breed. He presents the appearance of a well balanced dog and caught my eye as he walked in. He has a masculine head, but without any hint of coarseness. Eyes are set well, with dark rims. His bite is correct and he possesses a beautiful coat and mane. He has enough bone and good spring of ribs, combined with a level topline and good tail set. He moved true fore and aft, demonstrating enthusiasm as he progressed around the ring.

2 Brandrick’s Mrs W S & Mr M: Lillinca Bees Bliss. A feminine 4-year-old bitch. Well presented with a lovely coat and texture. She has a pleasing head, correct eye shape and colour. Strong neck, with well laid shoulders, complemented by good spring of ribs. Level back, correct tail set and hare feet. She moved positively around the ring.
