Goyt Valley Gundog Society

GOYT VALLEY GUNDOG SOCIETY - OPEN SHOW – 21 September 2025

Thank you to the Committee for the invitation to judge at this well run Gundog Open Show and to my stewards who ran the ring like clockwork, and to the exhibitors who entered under me with their quality dogs.

NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER

J. (1).

1. Hall’s Briztollie Mamma Mia, 16 month old bitch just needing more time to body up and mature. Pretty feminine head with good length of muzzle and well set ears. Clean through neck, straight forelegs and tight round feet, good angulation both fore and aft, moved ok

L. (3).

1. Copeland & Knowles Eusanit It’ll Be Reet At Menstonia, 5 year old quality dog of good breed type with a masculine head of good proportions, dark almond eyes giving a gentle expression. He has a strong muscular neck set into good shoulders, well sprung deep ribs, straight forelegs with elbows tucked in, strong over loin, muscled hindquarters and correct tail set, presented in lovely condition and moved out with typical toller movement, RBOB.

3. Golding’s Whenova Pampero.

O. (3).

1. Gough’s Cretshengan Kitchi Lake (AI), 4 year old dog of good size, pleasing in type and construction and so balanced when stood. He has a masculine head, slightly rounded skull and almond shaped eyes giving an attentive and alert expression. Moderate length of neck leading into well placed shoulders, is straight in front with good width and depth to brisket, elbows tucked in, ribs deep & well sprung and with a firm level topline. Has plenty of bone, tight round feet and muscled hindquarters which he used to drive around the ring with sound brisk movement and shown in lovely rich coat, BOB. I was pleased to watch him shortlisted for BIS.

2. Golding’s Kymin Va Va Voom Avec Whenova AW(B), 6 year old bitch although of finer build she is of good overall construction and outline. Feminine head with good breadth to skull, almond shaped eyes, gradually tapering muzzle and ears set high. Clean neck leading into well laid shoulders, chest of good depth with elbows in, well sprung ribcage, good tail set and balanced angulation fore and aft. Could not match the movement of class winner on the day.

3. Copeland’s Camusmor Bringmesunshine To Menstonia.

ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL

J. (3,1).

1. House’s Gleadsbury Mad About The Boy, 15 month old l/w dog maturing well and displaying a balanced outline when stood. He has a pleasing masculine head with chiselling starting to come, has dark almond shaped eyes giving a gentle expression. Clean slightly arched neck flowing into well placed shoulders, a good spring of rib for age and well proportioned body, stands on straight forelegs and tight feet, has moderate rear angulation and moved steadily once settled.

2. Stevenson’s Spuffing Daiquiri At Gaolachcara, 13 month old l/w bitch with a feminine head of good shape with kind expression from her dark hazel eyes, good width and depth to muzzle and correctly set ears. Neck of good length, good forechest, ribs well sprung for age, firm level topline and balanced in angulation front and rear. Stands on good bone and has compact rounded feet, moved ok in the small ring, just preferred the overall balance of 1st at this stage but I am sure she will have a promising future.

L. (3,1).

1. Stevenson’s Peasblossom Brogan At Gaolachcara, 2 years 9 month old l/w dog with lots to like and presenting a balanced outline and good overall shape when stood. Masculine head well worked with the desired fluting and chiselling, pleasing eye shape and colour giving him a kind expression. Good length to neck, firm in topline, has good depth to chest and well sprung ribs, is short coupled and stands on good bone with tight compact feet. Moved out with plenty of drive, just preferred the open winners head and shoulder placement in the challenge, RBOB.

2. House’s Gleadsbury Mad About The Boy.

O. (1).

1. Tracz’s Beresford On My Way With Acregate, nearly 4 year old l/w dog of quality who is so well balanced and constructed. He has a masculine head of good proportions and has plenty of chiselling below the eyes, good stop with a lovely dark eye and appealing expression, good length to foreface and well set ears. Good reachy neck and shoulder placement, is straight in front with plenty of forechest, good depth to chest with ribs sprung back to short loin, firm level back and correct tail carriage. He stands on good bone with tight feet, has moderate rear angulation, is well-muscled throughout and moved with long easy strides. Presented well in excellent coat and condition, BOB.

SUSSEX SPANIEL

L. (1).

1. Davey’s Eald Stands With Fist, nearly 3 year old bitch with feminine head of good proportions, good eye shape and colour with correctly set ears giving a soft expression. Strong slightly arched neck set into well placed shoulders, elbows tucked in, ribcage of good length and depth, muscled hindquarters and has lovely boned legs. Well presented in coat of good colour and texture, just lost out on movement in the challenge, RBOB.

O. (2,1).

1. Hipgrave’s Lord Of The Glittering Caves At Ternspringer, 3 year old dog that I have judged before and awarded him best puppy and I am pleased that he has developed well, is of good shape and size and displays excellent breed type. Pleasing masculine head, broad skull, pronounced stop, lovely frowning and kind expression. Strong slightly arched neck of good length set into sloping shoulders, has a body of substance with ribs carried back to strong loin. He has well boned strong legs, round padded feet and muscled hindquarters, presented in lovely flat silky coat and moved happily around the ring, BOB.
