LISKEARD & DISTRICT CANINE ASSOCIATION - OPEN SHOW – 6 September 2025

Thank you to the Committee for the kind invitation to judge at this well run Open Show and to my steward John Alexander who ran the ring like clockwork, and to the exhibitors who entered under me with their quality dogs.

I was in agreement with my co-judge, Karen Stirk, that her best dog, Putjade Perran By Gwyngala JW should be awarded BOB, my best bitch, Shearstone Hasta La Vista awarded RBOB, and my bitch puppy, Seruilia Society Girl, BPIB.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER BITCHES

PB. (4)

1. Hewitson’s Seruilia Society Girl, 10 month old pale gold bitch with lots to like, feminine balanced head with broad skull, nothing coarse, dark expressive eyes with well pigmented rims, good foreface and well set ears. She has a good reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good depth to forechest, has body with substance and ribs well sprung back to short loin, broad hindquarters with good return of stifle, has good bone and tight feet. Well handled, coat in that puppy to adult change and moved steadily around the ring, BPB.

2. Anstey’s Andesine Ray Of Light, 8 month old mid gold bitch just right for her age with a very feminine head, dark eyes and well set ears. She has a good reach of neck with well placed shoulders, good depth to chest, elbows close to body, has a good spring of rib, level topline which she held on the move and well angulated hindquarters. Coat developing and moved ok, just preferred the overall balance of class winner.

3. Anstey’s Seruilia Sunbeam. `

GB. (8,4)

1. Porter’s Shearstone Hasta La Vista, 13 month old mid gold bitch that impressed me when she entered the ring. I liked her clean balanced outline and length of leg and I am sure that she will have a bright future as she develops. She has a very feminine head of good proportions, well worked with kind dark eyes and well pigmented rims. Good through neck and shoulders, she is straight in front with good depth and spring of rib, firm level topline and correct tailset. She has muscled hindquarters, good bone and tight feet and moved well with a long free stride. Well presented in lovely condition with dense mid gold coat of good texture and feathering, BB & RBOB.

2. Winsor-Williams & Williams Aurgentious Ros An Gwel, 17 month old mid gold bitch, pleasing feminine head with strength but not coarseness, dark pigment and with kind eye. Good reach of neck set well into shoulders with a good return of upper arm, is straight in front with elbows close to body, has depth to chest with ribs well sprung and carried back, firm level topline. Stands on good bone and tight feet with muscled hindquarters enabling her to move with good reach and drive, just preferred the overall balance and tail carriage of 1st on the day.

3. Perry’s Stormhayes Spring Willow.

LB. (5)

1. Porter’s Shearstone Hasta La Vista, as above.

2. Collis’s Tillsun Mistletoe Promises, nearly 2 year old mid gold bitch of quality and good breed type, she has a lovely feminine head with dark pigment and kind dark eye. Has good construction and is balanced in outline with good length to neck, layback of shoulders and return of upper arm, has depth to chest with ribs well sprung and back into short loin, level topline, well angulated hindquarters and correct tailset held on the move. Well presented in lovely coat of good texture but could not match the more positive movement of class winner today.

3. Thomas’s Santandore Honesty.

OB. (5)

1. Porter’s Shearstone Hasta La Vista, as above.

2. Hewitson’s Seruilia Shining Star JW, nearly 5 year old cream bitch, larger model than class winner but still displays a balanced picture when stood. She has a lovely feminine head with good breadth of skull, plenty of chiselling, dark eye and well pigmented rims. Clean neck set into shoulders with a good return and length of upper arm, straight forelegs, is deep in brisket with ribs well sprung, level topline, good bone and muscled hindquarters. Not in the best of coats today and carrying a tad too much weight, RBB.

3. McCammick’s Creekside Hand In Hand At Saffdales.
