A huge thank you to the officers and committee for the invitation to officiate at their prestigious show, with a lovely entry and some top quality dogs for me to go over it was a cracking day, many thanks to the exhibitors for their entries and sportsmanship with my choices on the day.



English Setters

Puppy (0)

Sp Yearling (5,2). 1. Beasley’s – Latjeata Cup Of Kindness. Overall outline was balanced and steady, held topline, head with good proportions and nicely defined stop, bright dark eye and with good ear set, neck long and muscular setting well into a good lay of shoulder, front assembly set with strong round bone on a straight foreleg, correct depth in chest down to elbow, plenty of well sprung rib carried well back, topline/back strong and moderately short, with wide loin of good tone, good through 1st and 2nd thighs on a good bend to stifle, feet tight, moved with vigour and with good drive from the rear. 2. Neath’s – Albadora Total Madness. A dog of good substance and showing a good outline, with a defined stop on a head with typical male appearance deep in muzzle set fairly square, eyes dark and well set, neck long and strong, slightly arched and clean cut, forequarters with good round strong bone on a straight foreleg, body with depth and carrying back a good spring to rib, good and strong over the loin, well toned 1st and 2nd thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, feet tight and toes nicely arched, movement was driven from the rear quarters but was a little off centre on the away and back.

Limit (5,4) 1. Catton  & Cook’s – Valsett Starlite Sky Storm With Ferngate. Male dog with a strong overall outline, showing  great presence on entering the ring, head proportions with oval skull well defined occiput and good stop, equal across plains  nothing excessively  heavy, eyes dark and showing gentleness, square fairly deep across muzzle, neck long arched and strong smoothly carried into a good lay of shoulder, front strong with round bone, straight in foreleg, pasterns short, feet tight and with arched toes, depth of chest good to elbow with plenty of width for lung and heart room, ribs well sprung and carried well back to a strong loin, rear quarters with plenty of muscle tone especially in thighs, moderate bend in stifle and hocks well let down, free even powerful movement driven from the strong rear, went around the ring with ease. BOB.                                                              

Open (1). 1. Watkins – Valsett Staelite Sun Chaser. Nice overall outline with a strong topline, head with nice equal plains, not excessively heavy, well defined stop, kind in a dark eye, neck of a good length with a gentle arch into well laid shoulders, front assembly strong with round bone, straight in foreleg, well bodied with good depth in chest and plenty of well sprung rib, loins wide and with good toning, strong in 1st and 2nd thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, hocks well let down, moved in a balanced steady action.




Irish Setters

Sp Yearling (5,2). 1. Parsons – Quensha Women In Love At Bransett. This young bitch entered the ring with an elegant sweet demeanour and full of confidence, carrying a good overall outline and strong topline, lean in head with oval skull, defined occiput, equal plains from nose to stop and stop to occiput, dark eye set in unshelled almond shape, ears set well, neck muscular and arched of moderate length, front with straight forelegs carrying strong bone, shoulders laid back giving a decent return of upper arm, ribs deep and well sprung carried well back to strong loin, rear quarters with well developed thighs on a good bend in stifle, nice and strong short rear pasterns allowing for a well let down hock, movement was driven covering the ground with a positive free flowing gait. RBOB. 2. Nicholls – Riverbrue Storm. Carried herself well into the ring with a good outline and solid topline, head with good equal plains, nicely chiselled below eyes, moderately defined stop, eyes dark with a lovely expression, neck long, strong and with slight arch, fitting well to a good shoulder, good depth in chest with a sound spring to rib, sturdy topline through to a well developed loin, 1st and 2nd thighs toned well on a good bend in stifle, feet tight and with arched toes, moved steady holding a nice topline.

Limit (5,1) 1. Parsons – Quensha Women In Love At Bransett. Repeat as 1st above.

2. Turners – Gwendariff I Wont Forget U. Strong dog with a defined outline, carrying a good topline, a stronger head but with equal plains, well defined occiput and moderate stop, eyes dark and set in a correct level shape giving a kind expression, good length in a strong neck, well ribbed and with a strong loin, muscled through thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, moved steady and true.

Open (4) 1. Parsons – Quensha Thinking Out Loud At Bransett JW. Confident entry into the ring, with a good outline holding a correct topline on the initial stack, Lovely expression from a dark on a well developed head of equal plains, defined in stop and occiput, neck strong and of moderate length with a slight arch, flowing into a well laid back shoulder, front assembly with straight forelegs and sound bone, feet tight, good depth to chest with a good spring to rib carried back to a well muscled loin, wide and powerful in rear with good muscle tone to 1st and 2nd thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, driving around the ring in a free flowing action although he was a little distracted at one point but held it together to complete the movement. BOB. 2. Davis’s – Pawsword Prairie Wind With Alanasett JW. A steady veteran with still a lot to like, sound in body with a good outline, holding a good topline on the stack, head of equal plains, defined stop, nice dark eye showing a soft intelligent expression, forequarters with good bone on straight forelegs, neck strong and of moderate length, shoulders well laid, chest deep and with good spring of rib back to a strong loin, moderate bend in stifle with well toned thighs, moved steady and with a positive gait.

Pointers

Puppy (2) 1. Barham’s – Droveborough Witchy Women. At 10 months old already showing a lot of potential, fabulous outline with look of elegance and strength, equal through skull and with well defined stop, pronounced occiput, dark pigment around eye’s with dark eye giving a kind expression, neck long and muscular set to a well laid back shoulder, straight strong forelegs with oval bone, chest deep and of good well sprung ribs, strong topline gently falling away at muscular loin, well let down hocks, stifles well bent carrying a well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, oval tight feet, moved smoothly and with a driven gait around the ring with ease. BPIB, PGP1. 2. Ovel’s – Heartbury Valentino At Jimaura. A raw baby 6 months old showing a lot to like, good plains to head with a nice dark eye, long neck developing in muscle, shoulders well laid back, front with straight forelegs with oval bone, slightly sloping front pasterns, tight feet with arched toes, depth in chest to elbow, well sprung rib carried back to short couplings, moderate bend in stifle with developing muscle on thighs, moved steady for one so young and without too much distraction.

Sp Yearling (1) 1. Barham’s – Droveborough Witchy Women  Repeat of 1st in Puppy.

Limit (2) 1. Barham’s – Alozia Zephryan. 2 year old of a good overall outline, elegant and strong in appearance, head of equal plains, defined stop and prominent occiput, dark eyes and showing  alertness with kindness, on the stack holding a good strong topline, shoulders well laid back giving a good well balanced return of upper arm, front with strong oval bone on straight forelegs, slightly sloping pasterns, feet tight and with arched toes, deep in brisket to elbow carrying well sprung ribs carried back to short couplings, strong muscular rear quarters, well bent stifles with well muscle toned thighs, hocks well let down, movement was smooth and powerfully driven from the strong rear quarters. BOB. 2. Ovel’s – Alozia Zara At Jimaura. Litter sister to 1st and you can tell, very much of the same build and look, head with correct equal proportions, dark eye and also with a kind expression, good length to a muscular neck set to a good lay back in shoulder, chest deep with well sprung rib, good oval bone in front on straight forelegs, short in coupling, strong in loin, 1st and 2nd thighs well toned on a good bend in stifle, moved smoothly in a steady gait.

Open (2) 1. Barham’s – Drovborough’s Mocha Mayhem. 5 year old mature bitch with a good outline which was held on the initial stack, showing a balanced elegant look, head with equal proportioned plains, defined stop and pronounced occiput, dark pigment around a dark eye, ears close to head, neck long and strong clean and fitting well to a good lay of shoulder, front with a neat return of upper arm, straight forelegs with oval bone, chest cavity deep and with plenty of well sprung rib carried back to a well toned loin, rear quarters with a well turned stifle carrying good muscle on 1st and 2nd thighs, moved with drive covering the ring with ease. RBOB 2. Bird’s – Droveborough’s The GambitAt Vinepoint. A more substantial dog than 1st carrying it differently to 1st, head with neat equal plains, dark pigment around eyes, ears set above eye line, neck strong and moderately long showing no throatiness, shoulders well laid, brisket deep with plenty of well sprung rib carried back to short couples, nice oval bone on straight forelegs, rear assembly has well bent stifles with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, his movement was a little loose today seemed his mind was some where else.

AVNSC

Puppy (1) 1. Beresford’s – At 10 months old this youngster showed a good outline and held a steady topline on the move, clean through skull with a definite feminine look, with a good dark eye and soft affectionate expression, ears set above eye line, neck strong and of good length fitting well into a good lay of shoulder, front well constructed with good length to bone, straight through forelegs with slight slope to pasterns, depth of chest deep to elbow and of sound well spring of rib carried back to a nice tuck up at loin, which had width and showed strength, rear quarters strong with a moderate bend in stifle, well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, hocks well let down, feet close knit and shaped nicely, moved with a defined driven action, smooth gait covering the ground with ease. BPIB, RBOB.

SP Yearling (2) 1. Abrahams – Fivenineplus Azahara By Adormidera. This young bitch showed lots of quality, rugged and strong in appearance, good coat and with a strong outline, skull with parallel plains, expressive dark eye with no haw, strong through neck and with a well laid back shoulder, correctly slightly higher in withers to back, strong front with parallel straight forelegs, good depth in chest, good shape in overall body dimensions, rear quarters with well developed thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, sound on the move with a powerful driven action. 2. Dring’s – You’re My Dream Smeline Svaja (Imp LTU). Glamorous in looks and showing a lovely presence, well developed rounded head with well defined stop, well chiselled around a dark expressive eye, ears lobular and set level with eye, long through a muscular neck, shoulders sloping and strong, front with straight forelegs, short in strong pasterns, body depth good down to a well let down elbow, short through couplings, good angulation in the rear with well defined muscular thighs, compact feet square to body, effortless in movement slightly out done by first in this department, very close call.

Limit (1).1. Abrahams – Cravessa’s Right On The Dot By Adormidera. A little smaller overall than I would expect for a two year old, but with good proportions, with a good shape to skull and dimensions to the head that were balanced to the overall dimensions of the dog, good dark eye with a sweet expression, neck strong set to a good lay in shoulder, front assembly with strong straight bone, chest with adequate depth and carrying well sprung rib, rear quarters with a moderate bend in stifle, 1st and 2nd thighs showing toning, moved in a positive driven action which covered the ring effortlessly.

Open (3) 1. Catton & Cook’s – SH CH Daithi Shadow Dog With Ferngate (Imp POL). Good looking mature dog with a nice outline and holding a good level topline, Head with good plains, defined stop and carrying a nice expressive dark eye, very strong muscular neck of moderate length, shoulders with a good lay back, front with good sound strong bone on straight forelegs, good depth to chest down to elbow, well sprung ribs carried back to wide powerful quarters, moderate bend in stifle carrying well toned muscular thighs, moved powerfully around the ring with an easy effortless gait, BOB.2. Latheron & Trenchard’s – SH CH Fynder Reacher ShCEx. Good in outline and holding a strong topline, head with nicely domed skull, alert dark eye showing an intelligent expression, well toned muscular neck set into a well laid shoulder, front assembly with good width on a deep chest, forelegs strong and straight, ribs carried well back to strong couplings, powerful well angled rear with well let down hocks, sound movement driven from the strong rear quarters.

Open (5,3) 1. Sladden’s – Khyannes Villette At Canemamans ShCEx (Imp HUN). Strong outline with a sound solid build, slightly longer than tall, head long and proportional and with equal lengths to skull and muzzle, eyes of a dark hazel giving an intelligent kind expression, strong neck of good length, strong well laid back shoulders, good return of upper arm, forelegs straight and strong, short pasterns, feet oval and tightly knit, chest well ribbed back, oval and reaching the elbow, rear quarters strong with well developed thighs, hocks well let down, long steady strides with a straight and true gait. BImpReg. 2.  Sladden’s – KhyannesTriton At Canemamans (Imp HUN). This fella definitely put his handler through the mill today, full of character and exuberance, with a steady outline, good dimensions to head, strong neck, overall good size to height to length, plenty of well sprung rib on good depth in chest, strong rear quarters well toned throughout, moved rather erratically and was happier playing his handler up.

AV Veteran. (18, 11) 1. Sladden’s – Tyrbechgyn Believe You Will At Canemamans JW ShCex OSW. As soon as this dog came in the ring he showed great presence and quality, lovely outline and holding a good topline, head with pronounced occiput on a well balanced skull, eyes with a soft expression and dark in colour, neck strong and muscular, moderate in length and fitting neatly into a well laid shoulder, well defined in withers, forelegs strong and straight, body almost square in appearance, depth of chest to elbow and with a good spring to rib, strong through back and wide loin, rear quarters with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs on a good bend to stifle, movement was true strong and powerfully driven from the well built rear. 2. Barham’s – Kenwardgold Minnie Me VW. Standing with a good outline showing excellent muscle, head with good stop on a skull with good width, eye’s dark and showing a kind disposition, neck long and muscular and flowing into long well laid back shoulders, forelegs straight and with oval bone, chest deep and with a good spring to ribs carried well back, slight arch to a strong loin, 1st and 2nd thighs firm and well toned, good bend in stifle, moved smoothly with a positive action.

AV Puppy (12, 8) 1. Barham’s – Droveborough Witchy Women. Seen Dog.

2. Collings – Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev. 11 month old with a lot to like, showing a good outline and giving a well balanced appearance, head with defined stop and skull equal to front and rear, eyes dark brown and showing a gentle kind expression, neck of moderate length muscled and set cleanly into a well laid shoulder, well boned to front on straight forelegs, body with good depth to elbow full of sound rib, carried back to short coupling with strong loin, rear quarters with a good bend in strifle carrying good muscle in thighs, Straight and true action driven from the strong rear quarters to cover the ground easily.

AV Junior (26,23) 1. Winkworth & Woodcock – Silvestre Fit As A Fiddle. Good outline on the initial go around, holding a strong topline, clean through skull a little longer in skull to muzzle, eye a neat shade of coat colour, neck of a moderate length muscular and smooth, shoulders well laid back and muscular, set to a well laid back shoulder, straight and strong through front with upright pasterns, deep through chest not too broad with plenty of well sprung rib, equal in depth of chest to chest to ground, slight tuck up to loin, well toned croup, moderate angulation with well toned thighs, feet round and with slightly arched toes, graceful smooth movement covering the ring with ease. 2. McQuade’s – Maddhouse Dimonds R’Forever. Cracking outline with a happy non stop tail wagging exuberance, flat across skull with a slight stop, eyes dark and showing an intelligent expression, ears set close to head, neck moderately long set well to a good lay back in shoulder, chest is deep and fairly broad, straight through forelegs with good bone, body well ribbed carried back to a short loin, very strong through rear quarters with a moderate bend in stifle, thighs muscular and sound, hocks well let down, free flowing in movement allowing a good ground covering action. 

AV Open (12,11) 1. Huttons – Piccorino Potatore D’Amore. Strong well toned two and half year old with a good outline, well balanced through out, long and fairly narrow in skull, skull of equal proportions in length, defined stop, eye’s dark and with a kind expression, neck with muscle showing strength, well muscled shoulder with a good lay back to give a nice front of strong oval bone, feet oval and with nicely arched toes, chest broad and deep down to elbow, plenty of sound well sprung rib, rear quarters again strong and well toned with a good bend in stifle, moved with a powerful clean driven action.
