Spaniel (English Springer)

Junior Dog or Bitch (4)

1 Taubman’s Meonstroke Wild Thyme Liver & White bitch. Who immediately presented a picture of balance and symmetry. Typical, well proportioned feminine head with a pleasing expression. Square muzzle with wide open nostrils. Dark eyes and well set ears. Good scissor bite. Clean neck with good reach. Straight front with well laid shoulders. Held her topline on the move. Moderate turn of stifle.

2. West’s Meonstroke Woodpecker At Grosbreull Litter brother to (1) and many of the same remarks apply. Good reach and drive and it was a very close decision. Preferred the ear set of (1)

Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (4)

1 Glass’ Cobhay Rosa Meg. Liver/white bitch who was presented in hard condition. Correct head, eye and expression, which should always be kind in this breed with a good reach of neck Well laid shoulders with correct return of upper arm. Deep chest and good infill. Correct coat texture with not too much feathering. Moved true fore and aft. Well let down hocks Strong topline. Moved with purpose. Reserve Best of Breed

2. William’s Cobhay Heavenly Hydrangea JW Jch Bel Litter sister to (1) and many of the same remarks apply She was a richer shade of liver and a shade larger throughout. Positive on the move with excellent reach. I preferred her head to her litter sister but felt her turn of stifle was not as good as (1)

Open Dog or Bitch(3)

William’s Cobhay Dashing Dandelion. Another from the same litter as the Post Graduate class. My first comment was WOW! He commanded attention. Upstanding male with the most beautiful head and expression. Kind soft eye in a classic head. Broad skull, flat cheeks with chiselling under his eyes. Muscular neck flowing into correct shoulders. Fabulous forechest and deep brisket with lots of heart room - essential in such an active gundog breed. Strong topline with correct tail set. Stood on 4 tight compact feet with sloping pasterns. Best of Breed.

2. William’s Fancy Phlox Just when you think you’ve been lucky enough to see three beauties from this litter, their dam appears and I can see why she produced such lovely pups. Super construction and so typey. Build for work and show, and a good honest bitch. Beautiful head and expression. Good shoulders and return. Correct topline and tail set. Showing her age a little and I think her movement is now not as positive as her offspring, but as almost 7 years old she has nothing to prove.
