What an honour to be asked to judge at a club open show, I had an amazing day, the committee were amazing & made me feel so welcome, big thanks to my amazing steward Jo who kept things flowing well in the ring, biggest thanks though go to the exhibitors for giving me the chance to judge your wonderful whippets

MPD(3)1.Winkley-Balmer’s Edenwhip If I Can Dream 6 mth f dog of promising type, striking lean head with pleasing eye shape, giving him an alert and typical expression, balanced angles throughout with curves in all the right places, well made for age though forechest still needs to drop which is to be expected at this stage, moved on a good even stride for such a baby. 2.Ellam’s Buddy Big Boy 8.5 mths rangy br boy of pleasing type with an innocent, appealing expression, super shoulders & return of upperarm giving freedom & reach move, well ribbed for age, better depth of forechest than 1 at the moment but not quite the overall balance & quarters not as well developed, this should come. 3.Beesley’s Loki’s Special Star. PD(3) 1.Price’s Kierpark It’s Now Or Never, 8 mth f/br boy built on a bigger frame but well proportioned and beautifully made throughout, presents a classic outline, pleasing head, with a gentle expression and neat ear carriage, neck is clean and strong, shoulders well back. chest already showing depth, good spring of ribs carried well back, topline correct, gentle arch over the loin, well developed hindquarters & hocks well let down, giving excellent drive on the move, covers the ground well moving true fore and aft. BPIS 2 & 3 As Mpd. JD(8) 1.Mallinson’s Edenwhip Oregano striking dark br/w dog who immediately catches the eye for overall type & balance, dark expressive eyes of good shape enhancing his quality head and typical expression strong neck into well placed shoulders with correct length of upper arm, giving him excellent reach, presents an overall curvy, flowing outline, stands on well knuckled neat feet that complete the picture, moves soundly and efficiently using his strong sound quarters, covering the ground with ease and style & a true footfall. RBD. 2.Coulter & Craig’s Collooney Huckleberry young f/w parti dog who I found most endearing, he presents a racy and curvy outline, typical head with a real cheeky expression, well set fine ears, excels in front assembly, has all the essentials required but at this stage he just lacks the finish and maturity of the winner, he reminds me of 1 of my boys at this age. 3. 1st in pd. SpHD(3,1) 1.Parkinson’s Groomsville Dream Of Me curvy f&w male of pleasing type, long, lean head with a gentle expression, shoulders well back, preferred his length of upperarm to 2 giving better reach on the move, well let down brisket but ideally would prefer a tad more depth to his forechest, strong, well-angled quarters, which he uses to advantage on the move. 2.Lloyd’s Penwincoed Mr Magoo f/br & w good for size & shown in fit condition, appealing head and soft expression, well ribbed with ample depth, giving him balance and strength, not quite as clean through the shoulder into his topline as 1, but nevertheless of pleasing type, another with strong quarters. ND(3) 1.Hope’s Flerrow Rydings Romances unplaced in a strong JD class this young f/br & w dog, still has some maturing to do, pleasing head with good underjaw, well-placed shoulders, decent length & spring of ribs, adequate depth for his age, not yet the finish of some, but he proved the best mover in this class, covering the ground with a true footfall. 2.Blenkarn’s Crosscop Happy Valley of Hareghyll young dog built on a larger frame and, as such, will take longer to finish, he has a cheeky, questioning expression which made me smile, shoulders well placed, leading into a clean curvaceous outline, moved confidently & should come into his own with maturity. 3.Spicer’s Jothryn Muchacho. SpBD(6) 1.Hutchinson’s Zenobia Just An Illusion with Sweetaurora JW striking br dog of pleasing type, balanced but still has some maturing to do to complete the picture, typical head and expression using his ears well, strong clean neck into well laid shoulders, curvy underline, good depth throughout, strong well-angled quarters, moved out on a good stride. 2. 1st in SpHD. 3. 2nd in ND. PGD(5) 1.Winkley-Balmer & Winkley’s Bohosoul Firestarter by Edenwhip sound balanced f/w boy masculine head with well-set ears & a kind expression, strong neck, pleasing shoulder placement and correct return of upper arm complemented by strong quarters with a good turn of stifle, adequate depth of forechest, ribs well back, curvy topline which he held confidently on the move, his more positive front action won him the class. 2.Morris, Waddell & Spademan’s Southpoint Who Whom from Crosscop(imp prt) f/w trim boy who’s not as mature as 1 & a different type but still has all the essentials you want in a whippet, pleasing head of good proportions with a somewhat innocent expression, well placed shoulders, ribs carried well back and a firm topline, in fit condition he moved well in profile, showing reach and drive. 3.Salkeld & Graham’s Dalerafenn River Of Dreams. L(4,2) 1. Poole & Service’s Crosscop Twist & Shout mature, balanced dog of good size and substance with a clean curvy outline, handsome head with well-set ears & strong underjaw length & strength to neck, adequate depth of forechest with super shoulders and pleasing return & length of upperarm, plenty of heartroom, good turn of stifle & hocks well let down, sound & true on the move holding a decent topline. 2.Hope’s Demerlay On A Promise pleasing head on this f boy, strong clean neck, shoulders well back, good spring & length of ribs, curvy throughout with a good underline, well muscled quarters, moved well in profile, not quite the upperarm of 1 so just couldn’t match his more positive front action. O(5,2) 1.Poole, Morris & Waddell’s Falconcrag Match Maker at Crosscop a f dog of remarkable elegance & curves, so well balanced this boy has it all, refined head with expressive eyes and neat ears, set on a clean, arched neck, well laid shoulders, good depth of brisket, well-sprung ribs, strong loin and powerful, well-muscled hindquarters combine to form an impressive picture, on the move he is so sound & free flowing, covering the ground on a long low stride while maintaining the quintessential whippet outline couldn’t get past him in the dog challenge BD, pulled out all the stops against the BB & earned him BIS. 2.Winkley-Balmer & Winkley’s Edenwhip Call Me At Night a mature boy who has a lovely curvy outline & is in overall fit condition, head stronger than 1st but not coarse, well-set ears and an alert expression, shoulders well back & pleasing length of upperarm, good depth throughout & ribs carried well back, powerful quarters with adequate turn of stifle, he holds a strong curvaceous topline which he keeps on the move. 3.Coleman’s Rogansrock Born Lucky for Silurian. V(5) 1.Price’s Ch Wheelspin Silver Shadow among Silk dance JW VW mature 8 yr old f dog showing good balance & condition for his age, attractive masculine head with well-set ears & pleasing over his skull, correctly placed shoulders & good length of upper arm, his ribcage has length & is well sprung, firm curvaceous topline flowing smoothly into a well-set tail, strong quarters with good turn of stifle, covers the ground with ease and purpose. 2.Hope’s Demerlay Charming Charlie pleasing 7yr old f boy with a lean head and quizzical expression, clean neck into well-laid shoulders, though lacking the upper arm of the winner, maintains a curvy topline stood & on the move, good depth and balance throughout, moved steadily on an even stride. 3.Coleman’s Wakebarrow Willow Herb at Silurian BVinD

R/LCOB(1) 1.Fletcher’s My Diamond In The Sky over Shuleah feminine blk bitch of pleasing type, with a typical head and sweet expression, strong neck flows smoothly into well-placed shoulders, decent depth with ribs carried well back, curvy topline and underline, forehand shows a good spring to pastern, she’s well-muscled throughout and presented in fit condition, moves happily. VB(6) 1.Lawley’s Crosscop It’s Magic for Lawleymoon Impressive, quality 8yr old who is lovely for size and balance, presents a typical head and soft, feminine expression, combines elegance with strength, well-placed shoulders and length of upperarm, neat pasterns, super curvy underline and flowing strong topline, good depth with ribs carried well back, standing over sufficient ground with, moves out with freedom and purpose while holding her shape. Never stopped showing, her more positive hind action gave her the edge over the VD, pleased to award her BVIS. 2.Wilkinson’s Citycroft Star fall JW VW ShCEx OSW balanced bitch built on a larger frame than the winner, yet retaining femininity, bonnie head with flat skull, typical expression and well-set ears, good length to her strong neck, good depth of brisket and ribs carried well back, pleasing angulation throughout, preferred the more definite rise over the loin on 1 but she’s no way lacking & has a lovely underline, moved soundly driving from sound quarters & holding a good shape. 3.Holland’s Crosscop Brown Eyed Girl VW, completed a trio of lovely girls, BVinB. MPB(1) 1.Roth-Brown’s Edenwhip Day Dream Believer 6mth f young lady, raw at this stage but promising, she has a sweet innocent expression, clean over neck & into well placed shoulders, decent return of upperarm, curvy outline, stands on neat feet with well-arched toes, adequate rear anglulation and shows balance throughout, moved happily and with enthusiasm retaining her outline. J(8,2) two litter sisters headed this quality class. 1.Lawley’s Crosscop Enticing Lawleymoon an eye-catching br young lady with an exquisite head and soft expression, lovely arch over neckline into well placed shoulders, good length & return of upperarm, pleasing width & depth to forechest giving her the advantage in front construction over her sister, balanced throughout with good spring of rib, topline flows into strong, correctly angulated quarters, moved freely with reach and drive, holding her outline at all times. 2.Morris, Waddell, Spademan & Mycroft’s Crosscop Temptation to Supeta another appealing br youngster, feminine and curvy with a pleasant head and expression, well-proportioned with good spring of rib, strong loin and well-developed quarters, not quite the forehand of the winner today, but she shows balance, type and strength combined with elegance, moved soundly. 3.Morland’s Zoraden Naughty at Forty. SpHB(8,2) 1.Mallinson’s Edenwhip A Moment In Thyme, unplaced in JB, curvy br young bitch who lacks maturity at the moment but shows definite promise, pretty lean head with a typical expression, shoulders well back, good spring of rib & a strong topline flowing into super quarters, moved steadier in this class, holding her outline. 2.Parkinson’s Hologem You Were Made For Me a lot to like on this pretty headed girl, pleasing kind eyes & ears well set, strong clean neck into shoulders that are well back, she is balanced throughout & has adequate depth & curves, strong quarters are used to advantage on the move when going away, just not quite the upperarm of 1 so not quite as tidy coming towards. 3.Blenkarn’s Penwincoed Kim Possible. NB(4) 1.Lloyd’s Penwincoed Betty Boop a f parti girl built on a larger frame yet still feminine, presents a pretty head of good proportions with a flat skull and typical expression, well ribbed with adequate depth of brisket, holds a curvy clean topline, strong quarters with well turned stifle & well let down hocks giving drive and balance, best mover in the class, covering the ground effortlessly while retaining her outline. 2.Edward’s Lawleymoon Ereza Mar at Landsbirch a well balanced pleasing bitch of super size and proportions, sweet head with a soft endearing expression, clean through neck and shoulders, flowing into a well-set topline and balanced hindquarters, presented in good condition and moved well in profile but not quite the front action of 1. 3.Riding-Smith’s Cobyco Cream Sundae. SpBB(11,3) 1.Parkinson’s Groomsville Hologem Heavens Dream br/w trim, such a feminine head on this unexaggerated balanced girl, pleasing front assembly, well ribbed, strong quarters, standing on tidy feet, in fit condition, moves soundly on a long even stride. 2.Owen’s Crosscop Just A Friend eye-catching f parti not the maturity of 1 but lots to like, built on a larger frame but still feminine, cheeky expression with eyes of good shape & sz, shoulders are well back with good return of upperarm, she has such clean lines & elegant curves throughout, moved efficiently but not quite as tidy as 1 coming towards. 3.Edwards’ Landsbirch Isadora. PGB(9,1) 1.Lloyd’s Jothryn Beyond Blonde avec Penwincoed f parti larger framed bitch who has a classic outline, super curves & good depth throughout, pretty head, lovely arch over her neckline, pleasing angles for & aft with super length to upperarm, moves how her construction & fitness suggests, accurate with a lovely daisy cutting front action. 2. 2nd in SpBB. 3.3rd in SpBB. LB(6,1) 1.Lloyd’s Penwincoed Amazing Grace really liked this br girl a little broader in skull than some yet not coarse and has a pleasant feminine outlook, beautiful balanced outline with a curvy underline and flowing lines throughout, excellent shoulders and upper arm, ribs well sprung and carried well back, strong quarters with adequate turn of stifle, a sound and fluent mover who covers the ground with ease. 2.Morris, Waddell & Spademan’s Crosscop Tiny Dancer f/wh trim girl who has such a pretty head, flat over skull with fine rose-shaped ears which she carries well, clean strong neck, pleasing front assembly although did prefer the width & infill of 1, good depth to brisket & curvy underline match by lovely rise over her loin, strong quarters with adequate turn of stifle & low hock which showed on her precise hind action. 3.Salkeld Dalerafenn Follow A Dream another quality girl, unlucky to meet the first 2. OB(5) 1.Whitehead & Smith’s Christmas Crème Anglaise’s Lady Bridgerton of Citycroft (Imp NLD)A super feminine f/w elegant bitch who exudes quality, beautiful head and expression, enhanced by the loveliest eye makeup, neat ears and a clean, arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders, pleasing depth of brisket & well sprung ribs, strong loin and well-muscled hindquarters completing the picture, presents a series of graceful curves, both standing and on the move, covering the ground with lightness, reach and drive, never losing her outline, has that little bit of sass & look at me attitude which gave her the class BB & RBIS. 2.Morland’s Christmas Zoraden Gossip Girl JW a quality br young bitch who I did well for as a baby, she’s totally fulfilled her early promise & was unlucky to meet 1 today, she combines strength with balance & elegance, typical head proportions & an endearing expression, super front assembly, plenty of heartroom, a strong curvy topline & super quarters, she moves out with reach & drive on a long low stride holding her beautiful shape, can’t deny her quality & was happy to award her RBB 3.Service & Poole’s Crosscop Proud Mary.
