Newmarket & District Canine Society

Sunday 22nd June 2025

I would like to extend my thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at your open show, thank you for all the exhibitors attending on a hot day.

I would also like to express my appreciation to my stewards for their excellent assistance on the day.

It was a pleasure to judge Cairn Terriers, Cesky Terrier, Norwich Terrier, Sealyham Terrier, and Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Thank you all for your entries and for the good nature shown in accepting my decisions on the day. Was lovely to see my BoB and BPiB do so well later in the groups

Cairn Terrier

Class 449 Puppy (0 entry / 0 absent)

Class 450 Yearling (0 entry / 0 absent)

Class 451 Limit (1 entry / 1 absent)

1st Tester, Miss R, Airytykes Just Mischief

Just shy of her 3rd birthday, this red brindle girl has a nice head set with bright dark eyes and ears well carried. Body showing level back with good fore and hind quarters, coat harsh/ Would have liked to see strong drive around the ring

Awared RBoB

Class 452 Open (1 entries / 0 absent)

1st Tester, Miss R, Airytykes Excuse Me

A lovely 8 year old veteran bitch, mature in every way but showing no signs of stopping. Like the other girl today good head set all round and feminine with it. Coat shown as it should double coated with some harshness. Just pipped the other dog with her better movement around the ring, speaks volumes about her enduring quality and soundness.

Awared BoB

Cesky Terrier

Class 453 Puppy (0 entries / 0 absent)

Class 454 Yearling (1 entries / 0 absent)

1st Burrage, Mr D & Mrs L, Louza Garex (Imp CZE)

At just over 1 year old this dog was a little overawed in the ring and giving his exhibitor the run around, keeping to the breed standard of reserved to strangers while on the table but with no aggression shown. Observed while standing good head set medium eyes and ears, body nice length with some rise, coat felt silky. For his movement, it is tough to get a clear picture when they are not quite cooperating, but he is likely to settle and become more confident with more practice

Class 455 Limit (2 Entries / 1 Absent)

1st Burrage, Mr D & Mrs L, Komidion Sonata for Sametova JW

3 ½ year old bitch, showing very feminine outline and well balanced, good head set with friendly expressive eyes and good ear carriage, strong neck into a good topline with a well prepared wavy silky coat. Moved around the ring and gave the BoB a good challenge, can see these swapping places regularly

Awared RBoB

Class 456 Open (3 entries / 1 absent)

1st Fewings, Mrs SJ, Komidion Schubert

3 ½ year old dog. Another that is well balanced, with good headset highlighting his appealing and correct breed type, especially the friendly expression which is often sought after. Well muscled forequarters and nice sprung ribs, hindquarters strong and gave him the drive around the ring and out moved the rest of the challengers today. Later to be told that he is the brother of my RBoB

Awared BoB

2nd Burrage, Mr D & Mrs L, CH Sametova Bacary

A maturing well put together bitch of 5 ½ years old, showing a good feminine outline and well prepared grey blue coat a credit to both her natural quality and your grooming. While she may have presented a bit of a challenge on the move for her handler, the fact that she showed the correct drive and held her topline is crucial. The first-place dog just had that extra something on the day, but your girl certainly has all the right qualities that a Cesky should possess.

Norwich Terrier

Class 481 Puppy (1 entries / 0 absent)

1st Graves, Ms NC, Pipsacre Wasn’t Me

An 8 month old dog, entered the ring with a presence and confidence you do not always see in one so young compact and strong looking. Head with nice shape, good dark eyes, and well erect ears. Strong and powerful fore and hind quarters, allowing him good driving movement around the ring straight and true, considered a contender for BoB today

Awarded RBoB & BPiB

Class 482 Yearling (3 entries / 1 absent)

1st Morris & Reid, Mrs AC & Mr JD, Alantro Botanical Jewel

A 20 month bitch, a nice feminine girl which I think is essential, showing another good head set with erect ears set well apart, dark eyes. Liked the conditioning of her coat hard and wiry enough as desired for the breed, moved the better of the two in the class

2nd Graves, Ms NC, Pipsacre Along Came Polly

At nearly 2 a maturing bitch, a slightly finer girl than the 1st place bitch, nice expressive bright eyes, good ear set which contribute to an overall nice head. A nice sprung rib and held topline well, just did not show me the movement to match the other bitch today

Class 483 Limit (1 entries / 1 absent)

Class 68 Open (2 entries / 1 absent)

1st Morris & Reid, Brickin Blame the Game

Nice to see a dog looking like a dog, 3 ½ year old. Lovely head set, bright eyes, erect ears, strong neck. Fore and hind quarters strong and muscular showing good conformation and giving a good straight driving movement around the ring, coat hard and wiry good to the touch. Kept it all together to gain the BoB today but watch out for the puppy

Awarded BoB

Sealyham Terrier

Class 493 Puppy (0 entries / 0 absent)

Class 494 Yearling (0 entries / 0 absent)

Class 495 Limit (1 entries / 0 absent)

1st Khrenov, Mrs ELS & Mr O, Lord of the Rings of Taita’s Ushabti at Gelodnea

Coming up to 4 year old dog, although standing alone today did the breed proud. Good strong masculine dog, forequarters strong and straight, well sprung ribs, and hind quarters strong and powerful. Making the covering of the ring look easy for him

Awarded BoB

Class 496 Open (1 entries / 1 absent)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Class 497 Puppy (0 entries / 0 absent)

Class 498 Yearling (1 entries / 0 absent)

1st Thoburn, Mr AD & Mrs L, Northridge Wolf Bluff

An 18 month old bitch, had something about her as soon as she stepped in the ring. Good feminine head, dark eye with strong brow, ears nice V-shaped close to cheek. Neck strong and well laid, well sprung ribs, nice proportions and well balanced body, good rear angulation, good colour & loose waves, moved out with grace and freedom. Think she will do well in the breed. Was informed later that she has 2 ticket and think the third will come along soon

Awarded BoB

Class 499 Limit (1 entries / 0 absent)

WDR Thoburn, Mr AD & Mrs L, Northridge Hold Your Horses

Class 500 Open (0 entries / 0 absent)
