Northwich & District Canine Society

It was a pleasure to be invited to judge the stakes and finals for this well-attended and organized show, thanks to the Committee for the invitation.

A.V. Ann Webster Memorial Stakes:

A.V. Puppy Stakes (55, 39a)

1st Williams’ Portuguese Water Dog, Peixinho Caput Draconis. Well balanced 7-month-old dog full of breed characteristics. Lovely head, dark eye, good spring of rib for age, profuse coat in good condition. Nice feet, excellent topline, sound mover.

2nd Young’s Labrador, Fourjays Sassy Said It All. 9-month-old bitch, gorgeous feminine head, good eye shape and colour giving out a melting expression, strong neck, excellent shoulders, correct front with good feet and bone, matching sound hindquarters, good topline and tail carriage, sound happy mover.

3rd Fowlerheight Zoom (Bullmastiff).

A.V. Junior Stakes (45, 33a)

1st Edwards’ Bearded Collie, Breaksea It's Time at Nellbrook. 14-month-old bitch of good type, very attractive head having the correct proportions, moderate stop and expressive eyes. Neck of medium length, firm level topline, good ribs which extends well back, strong loin and tail of correct set and carriage. Nicely angulated front and rear assemblies, standing straight in front and muscular hindquarters which are parallel when viewed from the rear. Moved well.

2nd Gates’s Pointer, Sharnphilly Dizzy Blonde at Linosa. Nicely made compact bitch with a lot to like about her. Gorgeous head, well angulated shoulders and a very good front with lovely feet and bone. Nice topline and strong hindquarters, moved very well.

3rd Blamorder Side Hustle with Mournebrake (Collie (Smooth).

A.V. Post Graduate (34,30a):

1st Lowe’s W/H Dachshund, Nasiriyah’s Bye Bye Baby. Smart bitch with an air of quality about her. lovely head with good proportions. Excellent neck length, and carriage. Good front and feet, nice outline which she holds when on the move.

2nd Young’s Labrador, Huntress Happy Kiss at Fourjays (Imp Ukr). Lovely yellow bitch of good breed type with lots to like about her. Gorgeous head and expression, with correct eye colour, nice lay of shoulder, and good body proportions throughout. Good length of leg and well muscled hindquarters, with hocks well let down. In good coat. Moved soundly.

3rd. Dinahtron Bear Faced (Affenpinscher).

A.V. Open Stakes (32,28a):

1st Nixon’s GSP, Ch Quintana Lunar Eclipse. A super smart girl, lovely head and expression, nice neck & shoulders, excellent front, with sound movement and a great topline. Very well balanced and angled well both ends.

2nd Moore’s English Setter, Dream Team Stars Irresistibly Black (Imp Blg). Very feminine all through and elegant in her outline, of good overall size and shape. Balanced head, with a lovely dark eye, good length of neck, would have preferred tighter skin on throat, firm and level topline. Enough depth and spring of rib, good round bone and well arched toes to the feet. Angulation fore and aft balanced. Shown in good coat, moved well.

3rd Dream Team Stars Irresistibly Black (Imp Blg) (German Spitz).

A.V. Veteran Stakes (26,17a).

1st Edwards’ Bearded Collie, Ch Nellbrook Pure Imagination JW. Hardly showing her age, this bitch has lovely head, dark eye and pigment oozing a sweet expression. Lovely arch of neck into her excellent shoulders. Great depth of chest and length of rib, level topline. Presented in good condition. Moves with purpose with plenty of reach and drive.

2nd Smith’s Labrador, Flyenpyg Porky Pig JW OSW. Good head and expression. Well bodied and ribbed but not excessively so. Correct front and feet. Good coat. Moved well with a true, free action

3rd. Goodwin’s Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Ch Lisjovia Adagio avec Montmusique JW OSW.

A.V. Vulnerable Native Breeds:

A.V. Puppy (12, 9a):

1st. Amor’s Bullmastiff, Fowlerheight Zoom, Nice square head with dark eye and correct ears. Good reach of neck, correct shoulders, deep chest and good front, well ribbed, strong back end, moved well.

2nd Forrest’s English Setter, Elvistar Falling in Love. Nicely balanced 11-month-old bitch with an appealing outline when stood. Well proportioned head nicely chiselled, and flews squared. Clean neck of good length, just enough depth. A happy mover with a lashing tail

A.V.Junior (8, 5a):

1st Edwards’ Bearded Collie, Breaksea It's Time at Nellbrook. (Repeat).

2nd Thomas & Lusty’s Bearded Collie, Blamorder Side Hustle with Mournebrake. Well proportioned head having a masculine expression and correct planes with minimal stop, lovely eye and ear, clean through the cheeks. Soundly constructed with a balanced outline. Moved with an effortless, smooth stride.

3rd Rattustrap Crimes at Night (Manchester Terrier).

A.V. Post Graduate (16, 12a):

1st Macdonald’s Bearded Collie, Corimist All That Glitters. Feminine head of correct proportions, good neck, sound front and back ends, good topline and super quarters, a very sound mover and very well presented.

2nd Simpson’s Skye Terrier, Tiny Winne Argon Targaryen (Imp Swe). Nicely proportioned head, good neck, correct rib shape and length, strong well-developed hindquarters.

3rd. Rattustrap Crimes at Night (Manchester Terrier).

A.V. Open (6, 5a):

1st Forrest’s English Setter, Walshaw Illumination over Elvistar. (Repeat).

A.V. Veteran (5,3a):

1st Edwards’ Bearded Collie, Ch Nellbrook Pure Imagination JW. (Repeat).

2nd Amor’s Keepersguard Ragnar's Wrath (Bullmastiff). Very masculine, strong in front and back ends, his rear drive is powerful and keeps his top line on the move.

Best In Show: Wildman’s Cocker Spaniel, Glantraeth Ovation to Oktumi. Young bitch so full of quality sporting a lovely head with correct eye shape and colour oozing out a melting expression. Very clean in neck, well laid shoulders, excellent front with well boned and well-padded feet. Well-balanced body with good ribs, correct topline leading to a nicely rounded rump. Excellent rear assembly. Moves with drive displaying the typical lively temperament a Cocker should possess. So ably handled and shown in excellent condition.

Reserve Best In Show: Perkins & Van Der Schaaf’s Crème Anglaise’s Entourage with Silkridge (Whippet). Stunning pale brindle/white girl having a super, clean head, correct ears, excellent neck & Shoulders with a good fill in front, excellent feet, good depth of chest with a correctly shaped underline and topline leading to a correct croup and tail set. Strong, well muscled and angulated hind quarters having a strong second thigh and well let down hocks. Presented in sparkling condition, this girl showed her socks off giving the winner a good run for her money.

Best Puppy In Show: Johnsons’ Boxer, Sashbob Miss’d Meana. Very smart attractive girl with beautiful head, lovely dark expressive eyes that were just the right size, neat ears that were set high and wide on her slightly arched skull, well defined stop, wide deep. I liked strong straight front legs and neat cat feet, beautiful clean arched neck and well-laid shoulders. Well balanced and smart outline, good rear quarters. moved around the ring as if she owned it.

Reserve Best Puppy In Show: Samria’s GSP, Winterwell The Card Player (ai). Balanced young male, with a nice outline. Handsome head and enough depth of chest, which will hopefully fill out more as he reaches maturity. Clean outline with strong shoulders and neck. Sound front and rear assemblies. Very well muscled. Good mover So very well muscled.

Best Veteran In Show: Edward’s Bearded Collie, Ch Nellbrook Pure Imagination JW (Repeat).

Reserve Best Veteran In Show: Hardman’s Irish Terrier, Int/Sw/Fin/Est Ch Red Lucifer at Bonosue (re-Imp). Gorgeous head having great length with a narrow back skull, Strong deep jaw, dark eyes having that mischievous look. Correct ear carriage, good neck length into well laid shoulders. Straight legs, deep chest, excellent topline with a bang on tailset. Very sound movement fore and aft. Pity he was not handled to his very best today....
