Hound Club Of East Anglia

HOUND CLUB OF EAST ANGLIA OPEN SHOW 11TH OCTOBER 2025

My first time at this venue and show run by a lovely, welcoming committee. I had two very efficient stewards, Rebecca and Lesley, who kept everything and everyone in order. I had come a long way for my first Elkhound appointment but sadly all those entered were absent on the day so my focus was solely on Ridgebacks. It was a mixed bag in terms of quality and breed type but my main winners were worthy of their awards. Elkhound P (0,0), J (1, 1), PG (0, 0) L (0, 0), O (2, 2) Rhodesian Ridgeback P (2, 0) Nevison’s Bikquest Envy Blazingstar. 10-month-old red wheaten bitch with pleasing head, good length of neck and strong muscular back. Would like to have seen a little more depth of brisket but she is still a youngster and this will hopefully come. Balanced angulation and neat feet. Outmoved her litter brother to win the class. BPIB. 2 Nevison’s Bikquest Helios Sunreacher. Litter brother to 1. A well bodied young male who was not at all happy on the move today. Another nice head, this time with masculine expression, clean neck, muscular shoulders and ribbed well back. Bum high when standing but may level off with maturity. Tendency to toe in coming and going. J (4,1) Scanlon’s Kinabula’s Beat of My Heart. Handsome 15-month-old light wheaten bitch who took my eye on entering the ring. Nicely proportioned throughout with typical head, long neck leading into nicely sloping shoulders, well ribbed with good bone and balanced angulation. A happy girl who moved well in profile. 2 Bikquest Helios Sunreacher. See above. PG (3, 1) Healey’s Kiromol Reckon I’m Hot. Lots to like about this 2-year-old red wheaten bitch shown in lovely condition. A little finer than most but presented a balanced and well-proportioned picture. Free and easy movement in all directions, true coming and going. At one with her handler. RBOB. 2 Bikquest Envy Blazingstar. See above. L(3, 1) Healey’s Kiromol Reckon I’m Hot. See above. 2 Nevison’s Dabola Lola. Substantial 4-year-old handsome, red wheaten male who was a bit of a handful for his handler today, making an accurate assessment of movement difficult. Masculine head, neck a little throaty, muscular shoulders, deep brisket and strong back. When settled, moved well in profile, and true coming and going. Would have preferred a little more refinement throughout. O (2, 1) Scanlon’s Kinabula’s All About The Bass JW ShCEx OSW VW. A veteran bitch I have judged before and which I have long admired. At 8 years of age she continues to impress. Pleasing head with dark eye and feminine expression, strong neck, good layback of shoulder, excellent fill in front and depth of brisket, strong bone, balanced angulation, tail well set on, tight feet. Hocks well let down. Thoroughly sound on the move. Today however, she had to contend with an injured ear which was clearly bothering her, but I’d seen enough to award her BOB. Delighted to learn she was later awarded RBVIS.
