Spaniel (English Springer)

 Yearling

Entries: 6 Absentees: 2

1st) Meonstoke Wild Thyme (Mrs K C Taubman), good winner of this challenging class where they all had virtues and qualities in varying degrees to what I was looking for and what I understand the breed to be. Very elegant throughout, good head and eye with some chiseling and fluting; good neck and shoulders, some depth to chest & lovely forelegs and feet. Good ribs, firm topline & lovely hammy hindquarters. Not yet 2 years old & still to "drop" into herself I feel, but a good one and a very sound mover up and back; and uses herself well in profile.

2nd) Forgespring Foolproof (Mrs V K Pattison), beautiful B/W/T with the most glorious head and expression, even if it is a little finer than the winners. Very good neck and shoulder, good return and length to upperarm, lovely ribbing and topline, good tail for both set and carriage. She stands on good legs and feet and goes with a good, free and easy stride up and back, and uses herself well in profile, but struggled with the floor a little more than the winner on the day.

3rd) Forgespring Nobody’s Fool at Blissenbea (Mrs M Proctor)

Limit

Entries: 3 Absentees: 2

1st) Petranella Perfick Bliss at Blissenbea (Mrs M Proctor), almost 5 years old and she has a good basic make and shape. Quite expressive in head, decent front angulation and just enough neck, firm topline and good underline, a mite longer in loin than ideal but beautifully muscled and conditioned. In first class order, and a good mover, particularly in profile. Put down in great nick.

Class 55. Open

1st) Crackerjanne Cassiopeia (Mrs V K Pattison), I thought she was just lovely, really beautiful head and eye, so full of expression but beautifully balanced and proportioned with strength, but retaining femininity. Lovely angulation in front, super chest and elbows fitting neatly. Firm topline with lovely ribbing and good loin, excellent hindquarters full of muscle and she was presented in the peak of fitness. Excellent drive from her hindquarters and very accurate in front. Gleaming coat, delighted to award her BOB.
