Wigan & District Canine Society Open Show – Saturday 1st February 2025

Sincerest thanks to the committee of this friendly show for inviting me to judge, and for their hospitality throughout the day. I also extend my thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs under me and accepting decisions so graciously. I was very pleased to see later that several exhibits had done well in the group and some stakes classes, well done.

Weimaraner

Junior 1, 0

1st – West’s Gunalt Frequency By Hantu. 14mth bitch with a feminine head, correct stop, mouth, eye and ear set on an elegant neck. She displays good length to height ratio, a deep brisket, well sprung ribs, firm loin and is well muscled throughout. Excellent feet. Moved well coming and going.

1st – West’s Sh Ch Gunalt Wavelength JW. One I have had the pleasure of meeting before. She flows beautifully, and is presented in tip-top condition. A lovely pale grey, with a pretty head and attractive eye. Good chiselling with clean cheeks, correct mouth and ears with desired fold. Well set shoulders, nicely developed front, moderate tuck up, good angles fore and aft and tight elbows. Level topline which she held at all times. Short firm loin and slightly sloping croup. Stood over well let down hocks and good feet. Moved very well. BOB

2nd –McMahon’s Ir Sh Ch Silverkelvin Jupiter Over Magdala CW22. 7yo boy who was enjoying his day out. Pale grey coat. Heavier set and a different type to 1. Masculine head with all of the desired attributes, powerful neck set on well laid shoulders, deep chest, well sprung ribs and level topline. Good length through the body. Movement was a little difficult to assess at times owing to his enthusiasm.

Puppy 1, 0

1st - Schoneville’s Balvenie Fiddle Diddle. Sweet 10mth girl with nicely developing head, kind eye, correctly set ear with rounded tip. Good mouth. Slightly arched neck reaching into sloping shoulders, good elbows, brisket still needs to drop but she has plenty of time. Required short back, correct loin and croup. Strong legs and correct spoon shaped feet. Presented in firm, muscular condition which aided her in correct and precise movement for one so young. BP.

Post Graduate 2, 1

1st – Schoneville’s Orchidstar Themisto By Balvenie. 2 yo male shown in very fit condition and a credit to his owner. Handsome head, good ear, eye and mouth. Sloping shoulders, good elbows, correct feet. Well ribbed, correct slightly arched loin, well-muscled thigh and good angle to hocks. Moved well.

1st Schoneville’s Sh Ch Balvenie Double Diamond JW. Eye catching quality 5yo male with the most noble and attractive head. Broad skull, correct medium sized eye, high set ear, good mouth. Strong slightly arched neck set on sloping and muscular shoulders, good angles fore and aft and good feet. Ribs well sprung and deep chest with plenty of heart room. Short, firm topline with sloping croup and correct tail set. Powerful mover, loved his presence both stood and moving. BOB.
