Mansfield & DCS Open Show 10th August 2025

Sincerest thanks to the committee of this friendly show for inviting me to judge, and for their hospitality throughout the day. I also extend my thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs under me and accepting decisions so graciously.

Puppy 2, 1

1st Hawkins Schonhund Show At The Oscars.

11 mth male standing alone, presented in good hard condition. Rangy young dog who has all the typical breed attributes but just needs time to settle and fill out which is no bad thing. Masculine head without being overdone, typical chiselling, correct stop, eye & mouth. Well set lobular ears with desired fold. Clean neck, set on well laid shoulders. Well developed chest, correct brisket, tight elbows, good ribbing and firm loin. Good length to height proportions, good angles fore and aft, nice tight feet. Moved ok. BP.

Post Graduate 3

1st Pilatova’s Sabsky Sasanka. 7 year old bitch. My notes say fabulous length to body proportions! She has a sweet face, with lovely amber eyes and correctly set long ears. Good front assembly, correct depth to chest, level topline, ribs well sprung and short firm loin with correct slightly sloping croup. She was well muscled, showing a good second thigh. Best mover in this class.

2nd Hawkins Schonhund Show At The Oscars.

1st Pilatova’s Sabsky Svratka JW. A close decision between 1 & 2 but this 4 yo bitch pushed her way to the top with her effortless, ground covering movement. Feminine head with desired chiselling, correct eye, mouth and ears on a good clean neck, well laid shoulders, strong forelegs. She is a strong bitch with a good deep chest, and she has length through her body! She is well ribbed with a short, firm loin, moderate tuck up and level topline. Moderate angles, well turned stifle and hocks well let down. BOB, well done.

2nd Hawkins Smilek Fernando JW. I must commend this 6 yo lads owner on the hard muscular condition he was presented in. He could put many younger dogs to shame. Handsome, distinguished head with everything you would look for in the breed. Strong neck, correct length to height body proportions, level topline, ribs extending well back and firm loin. Correct brisket to elbow and tuck up. Best of feet. Moved well, just preferred the drive and rear angles of 1.
