Whippet

A huge thankyou to the committee for the invitation to judge whippets at your open show.  I was greeted with a very warm welcome, and the show had a really lovely atmosphere. We had a large, well matted ring for the whippets which was brilliant.  Many thanks to all the exhibitors for bringing your lovely whippets along, and for your entries.

P (8,3) 1. Morland’s Zoraden Naughty At Forty – 6 month fawn male with a lot to like about him. Moderate throughout, with correct front and rear angulation and slight spring of pastern. Well balanced with no exaggerations. He has a masculine head with correct eye set and oval shape, and an alert expression.  Correct dentition, and a good depth of chest for his age with ribs well sprung. Front legs sitting directly underneath the withers, supporting his front well. Correct length of loin, and well developed first and second thigh. Moderate bone and excellent feet.  He moved true fore and aft, and was balanced in profile when moving around the ring – driving from the rear. Pleased to award him BP, and delighted to hear he won HPG1. 2. Boggia’s Boughton Buddleia – 10 month old fawn female, she has a feminine head with small rose shaped ears. Muscular neck, leading into correct layback of shoulder, equal length of upper arm and good return. Front legs sitting directly underneath the withers supporting her front. Slight spring of pastern. Excellent depth of chest, with good spring of rib and plenty of fill in front. Well-muscled.  Strong loin, with well developed hind quarters and well let down hocks.  Moved true fore and aft and was balanced moving in profile. Preferred the hind construction of 1. 3. Severn’s Peiluv Chasing Rainbow For Nattah

J (4,1) 1.  Reed and Pace’s Dejare Dreaming On And On – 16 month old fawn female, nice for size with a very pretty feminine head and correct eye set with oval shape.  Her head is balanced in proportion, with a small fine rose shaped ear.  Muscular neck into a well laid back shoulder with flat muscle and straight front legs with moderate bladed bone . Excellent spring of rib, depth of chest and length of ribcage. Held her topline well on the stack and on the move. Well-constructed moderate rear angulation, with well-developed first and second thigh and well let down hocks. Moved true for and aft and soundly in profile. 2.  Sawer’s Boughton Berberis – Fawn and white 10 month old male, masculine head with correct eye set and shape and strong underjaw.  Slightly more bone than my winner,  he has excellent front angulation with his elbows sitting directly underneath the withers.  Plenty of fill in front and a good depth of chest and spring of rib. Well-muscled and shown in excellent condition. Slight rise over his well-muscled back and strong loin into his rear quarters, with well-developed first and second thigh. Good feet. Moved well just preferred the overall outline of 1. 3. De Graffham’s Cleeton We Go Together At Firesprite

PG (5,1) 1. Allanson & Macdonald’s Zoraden Simply The Zest Of Macalldon JW – 18 month old fawn male who caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. This boy is so moderate throughout with no exaggerations.  His head is masculine without being heavy and is balanced in proportion with correct eye set and shape.  Fine, rose shaped ears and a strong underjaw.  Muscular neck, leading into a well laid back shoulder with equal length of upper arm and good return.  Elbows sit directly underneath the withers, and he has moderate bladed bone, slight spring of pastern and well knuckled feet. Good depth of chest and definite tuck up with a slight rise over his strong powerful loin. Correct length of ribcage and length of loin. Excellent rear angulation, with well-developed first and second thigh and well let down hocks. Excellent tail set.  True fore and aft he moved with elegance, and with a low daisy-cutting action around the ring.  Held his topline well on the move, and I loved his outline - both stacked and moving. Pleased to award him BOB. 2.
