Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at your show and for your generous hospitality. I am also grateful to all the exhibitors who entered today and accepted my decisions with such good grace. A special thank you to my Ring Stewards, Rob Henshaw-Wood and Victoria Casey, who were exceptionally efficient and ensured the ring ran smoothly throughout the day.
Minor Puppy Dog
1st – HUDSON, MR & MRS M & C, Mournebrake Hi Ho Silver
Eight-month-old grey dog. He presents a pleasing overall outline for his age, although he is currently slightly rectangular rather than square - something that should balance with maturity. He shows good pigmentation and a typical, lively expression with well-set eyes and ears. His coat is appropriate for his age, showing early signs of correct texture and development. Once settled, he moved well.
Puppy Dog
1st – RHODES, Miss A, Tyngeli Wishful Thinking
An eleven-month-old black male currently appearing just slightly rectangular in outline but shows the promise of developing into a well-balanced adult as he matures. He possesses the best head in the class, with particularly pleasing skull-to-muzzle proportions. Eyes are well-shaped, dark and expressive, contributing to his alert and intelligent appearance. Ears are correctly set and carried, enhancing his overall headpiece. His topline is level and firm, and the tail is set on high. Angulation is balanced with front and rear assemblies well matched, and his feet are tight and well-padded. Coat quality is particularly good for his age - dense, with the correct texture and already showing clear signs of cording along the spine. Moves true coming and going and in profile, he displays the lively, short-stepping gait so typical of the breed. A promising young male with many commendable features. BEST DOG PUPPY & RBPIS
2nd – HUDSON, MR & MRS M & C, Mournebrake Hi Ho Silver
Junior Dog
1st – HUDSON, MR & MRS M & C, Mournebrake Hi Ho Silver
2nd – KEELING, Miss K, Catsun Spring Sunshine
A twelve-month-old male presenting a pleasing square outline, though slightly short in neck, which detracts from overall balance. Not fully settled in the ring today, which affected his composure and resulted in inconsistent tail carriage. Pigmentation is strong. I would prefer a better layback of shoulder to enhance front angulation, though he scores well for his tight, well-knit feet. Coat is currently at the “exploded mattress” stage typical of his age, indicating correct development toward the desired corded texture. Giving his handler a hard time today, making assessment of gait difficult.
Yearling Dog
1st – KEELING, Miss K, Catsun Singular Sensation for Wisley
An eighteen-month-old black male with a typical outline and pleasing overall proportions. I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle to better achieve the ideal one-third muzzle to two-thirds skull ratio. Well-pigmented nose and a lively, alert expression. Topline is firm and tail is correctly set and carried. The coat displays good texture and is developing appropriately for his age. Moves true when coming toward, slightly close going away, with a brisk, purposeful profile gait. Well presented and handled - an appealing and promising young dog.
Post Graduate Dog
1st – KEELING, Miss K, Catsun Singular Sensation for Wisley
Limit Dog
1st – COOK, Mrs L, Montydom Gorgous Geoge
Three-and-a-half-year-old white dog with a pleasing square outline. I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle for ideal head proportions. While the nose is black, darker eye rims would enhance expression. Neck is correctly set, though I would prefer a slightly higher tail set. Movement is a little untidy both coming and going but maintains a brisk, typical profile gait. Coat is well corded and presented.
Open Dog
1st – MILLS, Miss A, CH Ludas Matyi Aladar (Imp HUN)
Five-year-old black male of medium size, presenting a classic, well-balanced square outline. He carries a small, breed-typical head that is in harmonious proportion to the body with a relatively large, well-pigmented nose. Eyes are dark and well-set with an intelligent expression. The muzzle, while slightly longer than ideal, does not detract significantly from overall balance. Correct bite with good mouth pigmentation. Moderate neck and firm topline. Moves true coming and going, maintaining his outline and carriage throughout. Coat is impressively corded and well presented. RESERVE BEST DOG
2nd – COWLEY, Mrs & Mr, L & K, Kashbeluli There We Are Then JW
Three-year-old masculine male of slightly larger frame than the class winner, yet retaining a square outline and correct wiry bone proportionate to his size, which becomes evident once you get hands on. I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle to better balance the head. He boasts an excellent mouth, a longer, well-arched neck, and a correct topline with a well-set and carried tail. Movement is true and lively, with the brisk, energetic profile action typical of the breed. His coat is well corded, with excellent texture, and was beautifully presented and handled. On the day, I preferred the slightly more compact outline and neck length of the first-placed dog.
Veteran Dog
1st – WATTS, Miss H, CH Moonshadow Mud Bug (Imp USA)
Nine-year-old black male who presents a typical, well-balanced square outline. Ideally, I would like just a fraction more leg length to enhance overall proportion but this is a minor detail in an otherwise excellent example. Head is correctly small yet expressive, enhanced by a large black nose and dark eyes. Excellent dentition and mouth pigmentation, especially praiseworthy for his age. Ears are well set, blending into the head’s outline. Moderate neck with a level and firm topline. Balanced angulation with good depth of chest. His coat is full-length and beautifully corded - cords are well formed, consistent in texture, and hang evenly without felting or clumping, showing both quality and commitment to maintenance. Movement is sound in all directions, with true foot placement and that lively, short-stepping profile action so characteristic of the breed. He moved with confidence and energy, belying his veteran status. Beautifully presented and handled - a joy to watch. BEST DOG, BIS & BVIS The dog was awarded Best in Show for his outstanding breed type along with precise and accurate movement. It was a close decision between two high-quality exhibits, but his superior head proportions and slightly more correct foot placement on the move gave him the edge over the beautifully presented and strongly moving bitch, who was deservedly awarded Reserve.
2nd – SHARPE & DYER, Miss & Mr N & M, CH Catsun Comanche Legacy ShCEx VW
Eight-and-a-half-year-old dog with a typical outline, slightly longer in back than the winner. Characteristic small head. Muzzle is a touch long, though head remains well-proportioned. Excellent dentition - immaculately maintained. Topline is good, with balanced angulation and well set tail. Slightly long in loin, affecting compactness. Coat is floor-length and immaculately presented. A credit to his owner.

Minor Puppy Bitch
1st – RATHBAND & FEALY, Mr & Miss A & J, Mournebrake Hidden Agenda with Keynell
Eight-month-old black bitch presenting a pleasing, well-proportioned square outline. Her overall shape is balanced and typical for her age. Head developing well, though at this stage she is slightly long in muzzle. Eyes are a touch round, which slightly affects expression, but they are well-placed and of correct pigmentation, contributing to a generally feminine outlook. Good pigmentation and correct bite. Balanced angulation and a level topline. Feet are neat and well-formed. Moved true coming and going. Coat development good for her age.
Puppy Bitch
1st – SCRUTTON, Mrs M, Tyngeli Make A Wish For Gemeau
Eleven-month-old black bitch who, at this stage of development, appears slightly more rectangular in outline than ideal; however, this is not unexpected in a youngster and may well balance out as she matures. She has a beautifully proportioned head with the best skull-to-muzzle ratio, contributing to her breed-typical expression. Her eyes are dark, medium-sized, and full of life, enhancing her alert and intelligent look. Coat is at an encouraging stage of development, showing early signs of correct cording along the back with good texture. Once she settled into her stride, she moved true coming and going, and with a brisk, quick-stepping profile action. A very promising young bitch. BEST PUPPY BITCH & BPIS
Junior Bitch
1st – WEBSTER & TOPPING, Miss & Mr L & P, Catsun Pop My Cork
Seventeen-month-old bitch who secured first place on her overall maturity and more typical square outline. She presents a pleasing silhouette, with well-balanced proportions and a firm topline that she holds well both standing and on the move. While I preferred the head proportions of the second-placed bitch, this exhibit still offers a feminine and breed-typical expression, with dark, lively eyes and good pigmentation. Moderate, well-matched angulation front and rear gives her brisk, short-stepping movement in profile when she settles. Coat development is appropriate for her age. Well presented and handled, showing good potential.
2nd – SCRUTTON, Mrs M, Tyngeli Make A Wish For Gemeau
Yearling Bitch
1st – COOK & ANDERTON, Mrs, Mr & Mrs L P & S, Montydom Back to The Future for Weetoneon
Nineteen-month-old black bitch who presents with overall good breed type but is still maturing. Her head is feminine and of acceptable size for her body, but I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle. Good pigmentation and alert expression. Level topline but a little steep in croup and rear pasterns could be firmer. Forequarters need to develop and she tends to stand east–west, which detracts from her balance and footing when stacked. Coat is developing. Was unsettled in the ring today, which made it difficult to assess her movement.
Post Graduate Bitch
1st – COOK & ANDERTON, Mrs, Mr & Mrs L P & S, Montydom Back to The Future for Weetoneon
Limit Bitch
1st – ANDERSON & MAYNE, Mrs & Miss J & L, Vilmos Viva La Diva
Two-and-a-half-year-old bitch with a reasonably square outline. The loin could be shorter to enhance the impression of squareness and improve overall body proportions. Her head is correctly small in size, fitting the standard well, though the muzzle could benefit from being slightly shorter to create a more ideal head profile. Pigmentation is strong and even throughout, contributing to a pleasing expression. Would prefer a touch more angulation in the shoulder to improve front construction. She was well handled and presented.
Open Bitch
1st – WATTS, Miss H, CH Moonshadow Causa Comotion at Cordmoor (Imp USA)
Six-year-old black bitch with typical breed outline, square and well-balanced. She is feminine without weakness, sturdy and spirited without coarseness. Head is refined, though muzzle could be marginally shorter for ideal balance. Pigmentation is excellent with expressive, typical eyes. Firm topline with tail correctly set and carried in a tight curl over the croup, resting naturally against the back. Angulation front and rear is balanced and moderate, with good shoulder placement and strong hindquarters, allowing for effortless and brisk movement. Coat is beautifully corded, approaching floor length, with subtle grey and rust hues, highlighting her maturity without compromising condition. The coat is a testament to careful maintenance and skilful presentation. Moves with a brisk, lively action and excellent drive. Expertly handled - a superb representative of the breed who pushed hard in the final challenge. BEST BITCH, RBIS & BOS
Veteran Bitch
1st – KNIGHT, Mrs C, CH Weetoneon Polly Flinders
At twelve and a half years of age, this beautiful black bitch is an absolute credit to her owner. She exemplifies what a well-maintained veteran should be, full of vitality, spirit, and breed character as well as being presented in superb condition. Feminine head with medium neck, blending into a sound, well-structured body. Maintains a correct topline and tail set. Floor-length cords are beautifully presented, showcasing years of meticulous care. Moves with true action both ways and the brisk, short stepping profile gait typical of the breed There is both enthusiasm and precision in her movement, a joy to observe in a dog of any age, let alone one in her twelfth year. RESERVE BEST BITCH & RBVIS
2nd – WEBSTER & TOPPING, Miss & Mr L & P, Hampatong Head of State
Ten-year-old bitch with a lovely outline, correct topline and tail set. Feminine head; however, muzzle could be a bit shorter. Slightly longer neck and loin than the winner, which influenced final placement. Beautifully corded coat, presented immaculately. Moves with typical briskness, though topline softens slightly on the move. Well handled and presented.
Special Non-Black Open Bitch
1st – KNIGHT, Mrs C, Enter Suzy Q Vom Mullersgrund to Weetoneon (Imp DEU)
Ten-year-old white bitch with a little middle age spread the only sign of her years! Balanced and alert. Pigmentation is good with a pleasant expression, though muzzle is a touch long. Front is a bit wide and out at the elbows. Broad over the loin, with a firm topline and correct tail set. Cords are floor-length and in outstanding condition. Moves briskly with energy, although front movement could be tighter. A lovely example of a well-maintained veteran. BEST SPECIAL NON BLACK IN SHOW
Junior Handler (Under 16 years)
1st – The winner of the Junior Handling class was a young boy who demonstrated exceptional rapport with his bitch. Their connection was clear and genuine. He executed the patterns accurately and handled with both sensitivity and confidence. His understanding of ringcraft was impressive - Consistently positioning the dog between himself and the judge. A composed and empathetic performance. Very well done!
