Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge at this popular, well-run open show. Many thanks to my efficient steward, Jane who kept the ring moving smoothly.

I was delighted with the quality of hounds who entered today. Thank you all for accepting my decisions with good grace, and for the sportsmanship around the ring.

1st Ball, Ms V A Boughton Back In Time Curvy 19-month-old brindle bitch. Lovely, refined head that is beautifully chiselled, she has strength to her muzzle and correct dentition. Her long, muscular neck flows into a nicely placed scapular and good front assembly. Forelegs are long and straight with neat, well-arched feet although I would just prefer stronger pasterns. Her chest is deep with a well-ribbed back and broad muscular loin. Shapely in rear quarters with a good bend of stifle and low set hocks. She moved steadily around the ring. RBOB

2nd Fairman, Miss C L Luna Eclipse 4-year-old white and brindle parti bitch who was shown in super muscular condition. Feminine head with dark oval eyes, that give her a soft expression, and neatly rosed ears. Her muscular neck fits smoothly into a fair front assembly, with a good depth of chest, though I would just prefer a tad more infill. She stands on good bone with correctly knuckled feet. Her rear is broad and well-muscled with strong, parallel hocks.

1st Morland, Miss A Ch Zoraden Love Man JW 8 ½ -year-old white and brindle parti coloured male who is looking in a fabulous condition for his years. I loved his head, which has become rather distinguished with age. Strong, muscular neck with correct layback and angulation of shoulders. He has a good depth of chest and infill, with a flowing underline and matching curvy topline. Broad, rear quarters with width to his second thigh and low set hocks. He moved soundly around the ring with a lovely profile gait. BOB & HG3

1st Hills, Mr G & Mrs S A Lux CH Way Up Radio Waves (Imp ITA) Eye catching, almost 3-year-old, black masked gold male. Typical, aristocratic head with strength to muzzle and the most majestic mandarin beard! Long, strong neck fits smoothly into clean shoulders with good depth of brisket and well-sprung ribs. His clean, natural saddle shows of his level topline and prominent pin bones. He has length and strength to his rear with good width to his second thighs and short, parallel hocks. Shown in excellent coat and muscle tone. BOB

2nd Hills & Thornton, Miss M & Mrs B Absolute Afghans Djibouti At Karnak JW (Imp NOR) Striking 3-year-old black masked gold male. He is balanced in angulations front and rear and is of pleasing proportions. Classic, masculine head with dark triangualar eyes and punishing jaws. He stands on quality bone with large, well-padded feet. He was presented beautifully in coat and condition; his ring tail completed the picture. He moved around the ring showing reach and drive and was just pipped to second by the slightest of margins. RBOB

1st Sommers, Miss N Penjulai’s Over The Moon Promising 6-month-old black and tan bitch shown in gleaming coat. She had the prettiest of heads, which was well proportioned, with dark almond shaped eyes and correctly set ears. Good length of neck into a decent front assembly. Her shoulder blades are long and set obliquely. She is level in topline, with her ribs extending well back and has plenty of ground clearance. A promising puppy. BP & HPG4

2nd Maclaine & Vella, Miss S & Mr A Pennygown Kiss My Booty 11-month-old shaded red bitch, who I think would look better with a tad more substance. Long, balanced head with a strong muzzle and correct dentition. She has a good length of neck into a fair front assembly. At the moment, she needs to settle in topline. She has good width to her rear but just needs to firm up in her movement as I am sure she will as she matures.

1st Sommers, Miss N Ruletadax Queen of Hearts For Penjulai 15-month-old chocolate and tan bitch shown in lovely condition. I loved her head - she has the darkest of eyes and has the loveliest expression. She is balanced in angulations front and rear. Her topline is level with a broad loin, although to be picky I would prefer her ribs to be extended a little further back. She moved around the ring with a lovely profile gait.

POST GRADUATE 2

1st Strange, Mrs C & Mr P Bronia’s Armand at Cazdachs Classic 3-years-old red male, I thought he looked a picture on the stack. Handsome head with dark eyes and pigmentation and well-placed ears. His neck is strong and clean and flows smoothly into a lovely front, his chest is full has the desired oval shape. Plenty of ground clearance under this boy, he moved around the ring with a free-flowing action, using his well-muscled rear to his advantage. A close decision for BOB. RBOB

2nd Forge, Mrs I Normpug Tiger Eyes 6-year-old black and tan bitch whose coat was gleaming. Pretty, well-proportioned head with a sweet expression. She has a good length of neck into a fair front, with ample fore chest. Her ribs extend well back with good length of sternum. Steady mover on the out and back. I just thought she was carrying too much weight today which spoilt her outline.

1st Forge, Mrs I Normpug Roman Holiday JW Quality 21-month-old black and tan male who is nicely constructed. My eye was drawn to him, and he didn’t disappoint when I put my hands on him. I loved his classic outline; he is balanced and unexaggerated. Typical, conical shaped head with a slightly arched muzzle and strong dentition. His long, muscular neck flows gracefully into a well-constructed front assembly with a super lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. His chest is deep with a prominent breastbone and tight elbows. With plenty of ground clearance, this boy stands on lovely bone. Eye-catching profile movement. BOB

2nd Strange, Mrs C & Mr P Stargang Magic Alfie Moon at Cazdachs Handsome 5-year-old shaded red. He was a little distracted in the ring today and wasn’t on top form. Strong, clean neck that fits smoothly into good front assembly. His upper arm is nicely positioned so that his forelegs are placed correctly. Strong, broad back that is nicely ribbed with a short, muscular loin. He gave his handler a difficult time, but when he settled, he moved with long, free strides.

1st Mc Carthy, Mrs C Nagshall Paolo Prince Promising 7-month-old Black and cream male with a good length to height ratio. This youngster caught my eye when he came into the ring. His looked striking both in profile and on the move. I loved his masculine head – it is well proportioned with his muzzle slightly arched and strength to his underjaw. Strong and clean in neck, his front construction is true, with plenty of fore chest with good, tight elbows. He moved with purpose and confidence, one to watch for the future. BP

2nd McCarthy, Mrs C Nagshall Gosh How Posh Pretty 7-month-old shaded cream. Litter mate to 1st but not as mature. Feminine, breed typical head with the darkest of eyes and well-set ears. She is balanced in angulations fore and aft and has a super keel with a prominent prosternum. Firm and level in topline, with good length of ribbing and broad loin. She moved true in all directions.

1st Neasby, Mrs K & Mr K Westwillow Sweet Pea Nicely proportioned and presented 11-month-old cream bitch who looked a picture on the stack. She has a pleasing length of neck into a correct front assembly. Level in topline, with a good length of sternum. Her rear is balanced and is developing nicely. Lovely to see well-manicured nails on this youngster.

2nd McCarthy, Mrs C Nagshall Love For Ronnie 10-month-old cream dog. He is nicely grown and compact in outline. His neck is clean and fits smoothly into a fair front assembly. He has a good depth of brisket with his ribs extending well back. He just needs to settle on the move.

1st McCarthy, Mrs C Nagshall Love At Risk 10-month-old cream bitch. Long, feminine head of good proportions, she has the darkest of eyes although they were quite runny today and had stained her coat. She is balanced in angulations front and rear. Level topline which she maintained on the move, with correct tail set and carriage.

1st McCarthy, Mrs C Nagshall The Odd Excuse JW This quality 2-year-old shaded cream bitch impressed me when she came into the ring with her breed typical outline and ‘look at me’ attitude. I loved her feminine head, that was carried proudly. Her beautifully arched neck flows into a lovely front assembly with a prominent breastbone giving her the desired oval shape. She is sound in body, with a level topline and short, muscular loin. She moved around the ring with long strides, maintaining her outline in profile. BOB & HG2

2nd Broad, Mrs S A Bronia Wolfgang Puck Striking 3-year-old shaded red, he looked like he was in his prime. Masculine head of equal planes, his ears are well set and nicely carried. His clean, muscular neck flows into a well-constructed front, with correct return of upper arm and his elbows lie close to his ribs. Firm and level in topline, with good depth and spring to his ribs. This boy has the right amount of ground clearance. He moved positively around the ring, using his broad rear to his advantage. RBOB

1st Morland, Yates, & Winter, Miss A, Miss D & Mr L Zoraden Midlife Crisis TAF Well grown and shapely 7-month-old black masked shaded red, he was full of the joys of Spring! Very collected for his age and nicely made all through. Masculine head with expressive oval eyes, lovely rosed ears and strength to his underjaw. His reachy neck fits smoothly into clean, well-placed shoulders with correct return of upper arm. He has good depth of chest with a broad, well-muscled back and correct slope to pelvis and tail set. Muscular, rear quarters with well bent stifles and strong, parallel hocks. A promising puppy, I considered him for top honours. I will watch him with interest. BP & HPG3

2nd Smith, Mrs V J Palmik I Believe In You at Cryhavoc Pretty 9-month-old brindle bitch who seemed to be a little overwhelmed today and had a tendency to stand under herself. When she relaxed, she had a lovely, curvy outline. Good length and strength to her neck, that fits smoothly into a decent front assembly, straight forelegs with bladed bone and good spring of pasterns. She has a good depth of brisket with a sweeping underline and definite tuck up. Moved true on the out and back.

1st Cahill & Timberlake, Messer’s M & A J Ardencote Dance A Dream at Chipperlake Quality 13-month-old pale fawn and white bitch, with a lovely balanced, breed typical outline. She had the most beautiful head and expression. Good length and strength of neck that flows into a well-made front assembly with flat muscles, and elbows set well under. She has a good depth of brisket with a curvy underline and shapely topline. An eye-catching youngster, she moved around the ring with a long and easy stride.

POST GRADUATE 5

1st Cahill & Timberlake, Messer’s M & A J Shine On Harvey Moon at Chipperlake 3-year-old fawn and white. Classic masculine head of good planes with expressive oval eyes and dark pigmentation. Balanced in angulations fore and aft. He has a lovely depth of chest with plenty of infill. His back is well ribbed, and his loin is broad and muscular. He moved with a long, ground covering stride, with his tail carried in a graceful curve.

2nd Earnshaw, Mr M & Mrs N Palmik I Know What I Like at Moonshadow JW almost 2-year-old fawn brindle male presented in super condition. This boy has a lovely balanced outline, with nothing overdone. Long and lean masculine head, with a gracefully arched neck into well placed shoulders. He has depth and width to his brisket, allowing for plenty of heart and lung room. I liked his rear which was broad and had width to his second thigh. Sound on the out and back.

1st Shepherd, Miss S J Kidaruka It’s Showtime at Oxana JW ScCEx OSW Upstanding 4 ½ -year-old fawn with white trim male, shown in excellent muscular condition. This boy is balanced in proportions, and has a smooth, flowing outline. I have judged him before as a puppy, and he has certainly reached the early promise he shown then. Masculine yet elegant head with a lovely eye shape and expression, and neatly rosed ears. His gracefully arched neck flows smoothly into a super front assembly with correct return of upper arm. His chest is deep and capacious with nicely sprung ribs, and his back is broad and muscular. He excelled on the move using with a long and free daisy cutting stride. I was pleased to award him BOB

2nd Byron, Miss E L Jasarat Gucci RBOB Handsome 6-year-old fawn and white parti male. Typical elegant and graceful outline, he stands naturally over a lot of ground. Masculine head with length and leanness of skull and slight stop. His long, muscular neck fits smoothly into a well-laid scapular. His chest is deep with nicely sprung ribs, with a broad and muscular back. He has a strong loin with a powerful croup and correct tail set. He stands on super bladed bone with neat, well knuckled oval feet. RBOB
