I would like to give thanks to all of the Mid-Western Shetland Sheepdog Club for inviting me to judge at the open show, it was such a pleasure to go over so many quality dogs. I also want to give a thank you to the committee for keeping things running smoothly on the day. Lastly, but not least, a huge thank you to all exhibitors for entering under me. Congratulations to all winners!


Minor Puppy Dog (2,2)

1st – MOHNESEE THE CHARM MASTER - MRS K E HATELEY

7-month-old dog presenting a lovely head with a sweet, expressive eye and correct ear placement. He displays a pleasing length of neck that flows smoothly into a well-shaped, balanced body. Tail of correct length, completing the overall harmonious outline.

2nd – BALIDORN OLYMPIC STAR – MRS M E BOTHAM

6-month-old youngster with a correct almond-shaped eye and a clean scissor bite. Maintains a level topline, creating a pleasing outline both standing and on the move. Tail of correct length. Nicely presented and moved soundly. Preferred overall shape of first.

Puppy Dog (2,0)

1st - MOHNESEE THE CHARM MASTER - MRS K E HATELEY

2nd – TACHNAMADRA ROYAL SALUTE – MRS M BYWATER

9-month-old male with a delightful temperament and pleasing head features, complemented by a good eye and correct bite. His coat was well presented, lying neatly over a level topline. I preferred the overall shape of the first exhibit.

Junior Dog (2,0)

1st – KATIEDALE GOLDEN TICKET – MISS C A NABBS

Sable and white exhibit with a lovely expression and a head proudly carried on a long, elegant neck. Displays good angulation both in front and behind. Tail reaches to the hock, completing a balanced appearance.

2nd – SANDWICK ACE OF HEARTS – MRS J HARDY

16-month-old black and white dog presenting a striking outline, enhanced by his jet-black coat and long neck. Displays a pleasing head and was well presented. Preferred the movement of the first exhibit on the day.

Yearling Dog (3,0)

1st – EDGLONIAN PRIME TARGET WITH TOLAROCK – MS E Y PARKER

23-month-old exhibit with a pleasing head and an attentive expression, enhanced by a sweet eye. The head is well carried on a long neck. Shows well-sprung ribs and lovely angulation throughout. Moved with drive and purpose.

2nd – SMIDDYSHAW HERE I GO AGAIN – MS S & F & MRS C & MISS J BERRY & CLEGRAM & CLEGRAM

21-month-old dog with a very sweet eye. Presents a pleasing shape with a level topline, creating a well-balanced outline. Moved gracefully around the ring. Preferred the overall expression of the first exhibit.

1st – HILLHENRY IN YOUR HONOUR – MISS D J LINFORD

2-year-old male of lovely shape with a beautiful head and striking expression. Good length of neck leading into a pleasing outline, further enhanced by a lovely flat coat. Correct tail set. Handled well and moved with purpose.

Limit Dog (1,3)

1st – ILIAD ISLE OF EWE - MRS J & MISS A LYCETT

6-year-old sable and white dog with a nice head and good expression, complemented by a sweet eye. Displays a good length of neck flowing into a level topline. Shows pleasing angulation and well-sprung ribs. Moved with balance and ease.

Open Dog (1,0)

1st – HIGHBROOK HOBNOB JW – MR K & MRS L A GOODWIN

Stunning 7-year-old sable and white male with a well-defined head and proud expression, complemented by a correct bite. Displays good neck length leading into a pleasing outline, enhanced by a lovely full coat. Correct angulation front and rear with well-sprung ribs. Moved soundly and with confidence. Delighted to award him Reserve Best Dog.

Veteran Dog (1,0)

1st – CH RANNERDALE THE ENTERTAINER – MRS A A STAFFORD

9-year-old sable and white male, a striking exhibit. Displays a perfect head with beautiful eyes and an attentive expression, complemented by a correct scissor bite. Maintains a level topline and an outstanding overall shape, enhanced by a full, quality coat. Moved with power and balance. Thrilled to award him Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show.

Special Open Dog Sable and White (0,1)

Special Open Tricolour / Black & White / Black & Tan (1,1)

1st – SANDWICK STYLE COUNCIL – MRS J HARDY

5-year-old tri-colour male with a lovely expression, correct scissor bite, and well-shaped almond eye. Maintains a level topline with pleasing angulation throughout. Tail well set and reaching to the hock. Moved out well with ease.

Special Open Dog Blue Merle (1,0)

1st – GEMETTE GONE PLATINUM – MISS L AYRES

4-year-old blue merle with a good head, complemented by a nicely shaped eye. Lovely flecked markings add to the overall appeal of the coat. Displays a long neck, a nicely constructed rear, and a good length of tail, completing a pleasing profile. Moved well and freely.

Baby Puppy Dog (2,1)

1st – RANNERDALE JAMMY DODGER NAF – MISS C J STAFFORD

4-month-old sable male, a sweet and promising youngster. Displays a lovely head with a soft, appealing expression. Good length of neck leading into correct angulation. Long tail and a beautiful, endearing temperament complete the picture.

2nd – HIGHBROOK HELLS BELLS – MR K & MRS L A GOODWIN

Another 4-month-old youngster with a nice head and pleasing overall shape. Presents a balanced outline with a level topline. A sturdy puppy with strong bone who moved well. Preferred the expression of the first exhibit.

Baby Puppy Bitch (4,2)

1st – RANNERDALE COCO POP NAF - MISS C J STAFFORD

4-month-old baby puppy bitch with a sweet eye and soft expression. Displays good length of neck and a pleasing overall shape, finished with a long, well-carried tail. Moved well for her age.

2nd – HIGHBROOK HOTPANTS – MR K & MRS L A GOODWIN

Another 4-month-old baby with a lovely temperament and sweet expression, the head well carried on a long neck. Maintains a level topline, creating a pleasing outline. Moved well. Preferred the head of the first exhibit.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2,1)

1st – SHELCREST BRIGHT STAR - MRS P SAPSFORD

6-month-old sable and white puppy with a long neck carrying the head proudly. Sweet, almond-shaped eyes contribute to a soft expression. Maintains a level topline, creating a pleasing outline. Tail of good length, completing the picture.

2nd – LIANBRAY LUCY LOCKETT – MRS G BRAY

7-month-old bitch with a very sweet head, enhanced by a lovely eye and correct ear placement. Displays good length of neck and a nice level topline. Strong bone and a striking outline, completed by a long, well-carried tail. Unfortunately, she was unsure of me on the day, and I was unable to go over her, but I am certain her time will come — one to watch for the future.

Puppy Bitch (1,2)

1st – SANDWICK CHANEL – MISS M HILLS

9-month-old sable and white puppy bitch with a nice eye and correct bite. Displays a long neck flowing into a well-shaped body. Good length of tail completed a pleasing overall presentation.

Junior Bitch (3,2)

1st – EDGLONIAN APRICOT LIL – MISS D PEARSON

Wow! This 16-month-old sable and white bitch is absolutely beautiful, catching my eye the moment she entered the ring with her striking outline. Displays a perfect eye and the sweetest expression. A long neck proudly carries the head, flowing smoothly into a well-angulated and balanced body. Expertly handled and moved with grace and balance. Delighted to award her Best of Breed.

2nd – ROWANCREST LEGALLY BLONDE – MRS D GOODWIN

16-month-old bitch with a very sweet and feminine head, complemented by a good eye and a long neck. Maintains a level topline and a tail reaching the hock. Presents a pleasing overall shape and moved soundly around the ring.

Yearling Bitch (3,3)

1st – SMIDDYSHAW ALL THE GLITZ – MRS C & MISS J CLEGRAM

21-month-old bitch with a nice head and sweet expression. A long neck flows smoothly into a well-structured body with nicely sprung ribs. Moved gracefully around the ring.

2nd – KEYCHARM SWEET CANDY – MS S HAYHURS

23-month-old bitch with a sweet expression and beautiful almond-shaped eyes. Presents a lovely outline with a level topline, pleasing shape overall, and a good length of tail. Preferred the movement of the first exhibit on the day.

Novice Bitch (3,1)

1st - SANDWICK CHANEL – MISS M HILLS

2nd – VALMAY VICTORIANA – MR G & MRS V JAMES

This bitch displays a sweet eye and correct bite, with a well-constructed front. A tail reaching the hock completes a fine overall presentation. Moved well, although I preferred the outline of the first exhibit.

Graduate Bitch (5,1)

1st – RIBANS STARLET OF MILESEND (JKC) – MR G & MRS D G JACKSON

2-year-old bitch with a sweet eye and an attentive expression. Maintains a level topline, creating a pleasing outline, with a strong rear completing a fine profile. Moved well and confidently.

2nd – KEYCHARM SAMBA – MS S HAYHURST

This bitch displays a sweet temperament, a nice head, and a long neck leading smoothly into the body. Presents a pleasing overall shape, although I preferred the movement of the first exhibit on the day.

Post Graduate Bitch (2,1)

1st – RANNERDALE KILLER QUEEN – MISS S & DR P E LEWTHWAITE & STAFFORD

3-year-old bitch with a sweet nature, displaying a nice head, lovely expression, and correct bite. Presents a nicely shaped body with good spring of rib. Moved well with purpose and drive.

2nd – VIOLA RIVINIARA FOR COCHOCHR - MRS S HUGHES

5-year-old bitch with a gentle temperament, lovely eye, and good reach of neck. Shows nice spring of rib and a tail of pleasing length. Preferred the outline of the first exhibit.

Limit Bitch (5,0)

1st – RANNERDALE HONEY BEE AT HIGHBROOK – MR K & MRS L A GOODWIN

Very sweet bitch with well-shaped eyes and correct ear placement. Displays good length of neck and maintains a level topline. Well-sprung ribs and a pleasing overall shape. Moved soundly around the ring.

2nd – BALIDORN GOLDEN AMBER – MR W & MRS C ROSSLYN

This bitch presents a nicely shaped head with a correct eye. Maintains a level topline and a well-set tail. Displays a good overall shape, though I preferred the outline of the first exhibit.

Open Bitch (1,1)

1st – RANNERDALE THE SHOWGIRL – MRS A A STAFFORD

This bitch caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. She has a very sweet expression, with ears set nicely atop her head. Her long neck flows into a level topline, presenting a good overall shape. Moved with grace and fluidity.

Veteran Bitch (5,2)

1st – CH SMIDDYSHAW I’LL B THERE FOR U – MS S & F & MRS C & MISS J BERRY & CLEGRAM & CLEGRAM

One of the best movers of the day! This bitch has a stunning head and a very sweet eye. A long neck leads into a level topline, creating a pleasing outline. Good spring of rib and a long tail complete the picture. Nice angulation all around.

2nd – BALIDORN SOLITUDE AT SOLYRIC JW VW - MISS H GAMBLE

This bitch has a nice head with a lovely eye, showing expression throughout the class. Displays a pleasing overall shape, though I preferred the movement of the first exhibit.

Special Open Bitch Sable and White (3,0)

1st – JAELIS MYSTIQUE ADDICTION - MRS K & MR R SPARKS

3 and a half-year-old bitch with a good eye and attentive expression. Displays a nice shape and a lovely overall outline. Moved with balance and ease.

2nd – VALMAY IN VOGUE JW – MR G & MRS V JAMES

This bitch has a lovely head and good expression, complemented by a good length of neck. Displays nice angulation and moved well. Preferred the overall outline of the first exhibit.

Special Open Tricolour/Black and White/Black and Tan (3,1)

1st – SANDWICK A LA MODE - MISS L HARDY

This bitch has a nicely shaped head and a lovely reach of neck. Her jet-black coat was striking, enhancing a brilliant outline. Displays a good shape overall and moved very well.

2nd – RANNERDALE QUEEN OF THE NITE – MISS C J STAFFORD

This bitch has a lovely head and expression, complemented by a beautiful coat and pleasing shape. Displays good spring of rib and a tail reaching the hock. Preferred the movement of the first exhibit on the day, although it was a very close class.

Special Open Blue Merle (2,1)

1st – GEMETTE GLITTER GIRL – MISS L AYRES

This bitch was presented with a pleasing expression and adequate length of neck. She displays well-sprung ribs and a well-set tail. Moved well and with purpose.

2nd – AFTERGLOW MERINO - MRS S HUGHES

This blue merle showed expression throughout, with ears placed nicely atop her head. A good length of neck flows into a body that presents a lovely outline. Preferred the movement of the first exhibit on the day.
