Boston & District Canine Society

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at Boston & DCS open show, such a well run show with a friendly committee to welcome you. Thank you Catherine Dennis for stewarding the toy breeds for me and to Marion Sargent and Antony Bongiovanni for the puppy stakes.

GERMAN PINSCHER

L (1) Ellis’ Falkor Stand And Deliver, 3 years Red, one I have judged and gave BoB to before, cannot be denied, he has a super outline. Pleasing head & eye. Excellent neck into well laid shoudlers and firm level topline. Correct tailset. Pleasing mover with good reach and drive. BOB, G2. 2 Lawrence’s Falkor Poetry In Motion, Black & Tan, litter sister to 1. Feminine head and expression, dark eye. Good front with well laid shoulders, firm topline and correct tailset. Lovely mover.

O (1) Ellis’ Goodsoul’s Rumour Has It It’s Falkor, 8 years Red, another favourite of mine, beautiful head, dark eye & lovely ears. Nice neck into good shoulders and level topline, correct tailset and well angulated rear. Flows round the ring, not showing her age at all.

AFFENPINSCHER

P (2,1) Dowsett’s Ashiblack Baboushka for Tteswood, 11 months, good for size, pretty head and dark eye with cheeky expression, good for neck, into short body, topline could be firmer, good tailset, shown in good coat, moved out soundly. BP

SY (3) 1 Currie’s Faehat Halo, 16 months, well balanced, good for size, pleasing head and expression with dark eyes and well set ears, nice turn up of chin, short neck, firm topline & correct tailset. Good rear angulation. Small feet. Accurate mover. Shown in harsh coat.2 Gill’s Florindale Just Magic, pretty bitch with dark eyes, and small well set ears. Short neck. Short in body, tailset good but could be carried higher. Pleasing mover. 3 Dowsett’s Riogaioch King of Kings at Tteswood JW.

L (1) Gill’s Florindale Letty Larkin, balanced girl, pretty head, good turn up of chin, dark eye, small ears giving typical expression. Short neck into good shoulders and compact body. Good rear angulation. Small feet. Sound mover.

O (3) 1 McEvoy and Pirrie’s Afterglow Bat in The Belfry for Guereza, impressive male, presented immaculately, 2 years, beautiful head, darkest of eyes full of mischief, wide muzzle, good turn up of chin. Gorgeous expression. Small well set ears. Short neck into well laid shoulders and compact body. Straight front with small feet. Super rear. Excellent tailset and carriage. Beautiful mover. Correct harsh coat. BOB. 2 Shepherd’s Avantgarde I’m A Gangsta, 3 years, presents a nice outline and shown in good coat. Pleasing head with dark eye & small well set ears. Good neck, decent length of body, good rear angulation, preferred the tailset of 1. Sound mover.

BICHON FRISE

P (2) 1 Carr’s Petit ami’s Countin’ On A Miracle Bowichons (Imp Nor) 11 months shown in excellent coat. Well proportioned head, darkest of eye giving a pleasing expression. Good neck into correct shoulder. Good length to body, firm topline at all times. Super tailset. Round feet, Pads black. When settled, shows excellent movement with good head carriage. BP 2 Curtis’ Elliebums The Magic Begins, 6 months at her first show, shows lots of promise, pleasing head properties with expressive dark eyes. Well proportioned body. Good rear and correct tailset. Moves well.

SY (3) 1 Russell’s Rusmar April Forget Me Not, lovely bitch, pleasing head with rounded skull, dark, round expressive eyes, correct earset, well arched neck into good firm topline, slightly rounded croup, correct round feet with black pads. Super tailset. Balanced mover with typical head carriage. Presented in excellent coat BOB2. Marshall’s Blancazorte Never Say Never to Honeyvale She has a pleasing expression, well placed ears and lovely dark pigment, good reach of neck. High set tail, presented very well & a lovely sound mover. Rounded feet with black pads.

ITALIAN GREYHOUND

L (1) Henshall’s Gemolli A Million Dreams, I judged this girl as a very raw puppy and she has come on lovely. Feminine, and presents a nice outline. Pretty, well balanced head, with super ears, dark eye and good arch of neck. Correct arch over the loin leading to good croup and low tailset. Well angulated front and rear and has lovely feet. Moves out with lovely lift. BOB

HAVANESE

O (1) 1 Clements Roxholm One For The Road, stylish dog in good coat. Pleasing head of good proportions, correct pigment, good reach of neck and correct topline. Well muscled rear. Lovely mover with correct tailset. BOB

BOSTON LUCKY DIP PUPPY STAKES

What a treat to judge this class, over 30 dogs presents, full of quality which bodes well for the future! More than happy with my shortlisted dogs, any could have placed, sadly I only had 4.

1 Jennings & Bedding’s Alibama That’s My Boy, American Cocker Spaniel, 6 months Buff, and apparently at his first show. Instantly caught my eye, beautiful headpiece, well rounded skull, round full eyes, excellent ears with good leathers, long slightly arched neck. Strong topline with correct slope, well angulated rear, excellent tailset and carriage. Silky coat. Absoloutely gorgeous on the move, covering the ground effortlessly. One to watch.

2 Leonard’s Witchstone Nasabe Strikes Back, ETT, 6 months typical wedge shaped head, textbook candle-flame ears, small, obliquely set eyes. Alert expression. Long, slightly arched neck into good shoulders. Straight front, compact feet. Correct topline curving from behind shoulder to loin, and to root of tail. Good rear angulation. Super mover especially in profile showing the typical extended trot. Future star.
