Many thanks to Julia & the committee for the invitation to judge at their show and for a lovely gift to remember the day, and to my two hardworking stewards Julian & Alice. I had a super entry of 66, with 21 absentees. Some lovely dogs to judge, however there is a lot of mixed type so some compromises had to be made. Baby Puppy Dog (1) Swinge’s Balthazar Mr Blu Zkye, R/R, very raw as to be expected at this age, head is promising, wide skull between the ears, round, dark expressive eyes. Well placed nose & good turn up of chin. Well angulated rear. Moved OK. Baby Puppy Bitch (6,2) 1 Fernyhough’s Fennymore Ellie May at Sharnese, R/R caught my eye for her pleasing shape and overall balance. Feminine head, well placed nose, lovely dark eyes & cheeky expression. Neat ears. Good depth of chest for age. Compact in body, level topline, short loin & well set tail. Small feet. Moved round the ring with good reach. BBPIS. 2 Chapman’s Hipster Zenna avec Cilleine, Black Rough, she too has a nice shape, just being that slightly longer in body than 1. Feminine head, round, dark eyes, good turn up of chin. Straight front, good depth of chest, standing on small feet. 3 Swinge’s Balthazar Shake It Off. Special Open Red Dog or Bitch (1) 1 Carpenter’s Sabai London Pride, 10 years Red Smooth, feminine and of a good size, head is of a good shape, with an endearing expression from her dark eyes. Small, well set ears. She is slightly longer than tall. Firm topline. Good width to front. Slightly close behind going away. Special Open Black Dog or Bitch (1) 1 Suggitt’s Aptrick Arcturus, black rough, he has a large head, with round, dark eyes, ears are small and high set. Well placed nose. Good width to front, elbows could be closer to chest. Slightly longer than I would prefer. Good rear angulation. Moved out well with some drive. Special Open Black & Tan Dog or Bitch 1 Oliver-Barratt and Barratt’s Chinaskys Queen Grande, 5 years, smooth B/T, cobby female. Nice head with good turn up, straight front, well ribbed body. Small feet and standing on medium bone. Good rear angulation and moved round the ring soundly. Special Open Smooth Dog or Bitch (4,1) 1 Gullon’s CH Datiro Chickadee JW OSW, quality Red female of a lovely size, a feminine, fairly large rounded head, large eyes which are dark and give a cheeky expression, good turn up of chin. Straight front, with a deep chest. Firm topline and in lovely condition. Well angulated rear. Small feet. Sound mover from all angles. 2 Blore’s Movalian Musketeer, red smooth male, large head & excellent expression, compact body, correct tailset. Sound mover but not the rear drive of 1. 3 Carpenter’s Sabai Crysanthemum (taf) Veteran Dog 1 Swinge’s CH Harpersband Case In Point at Balthazar JW (imp Rus) R/R, an old favourite of mine, large head, dark eye and large open nostrils, good stop, wide muzzle with good turn up, giving a lovely expression, good bone, straight front and correct feet. Good rear angulation, tailset correct. Covered the ground well, with good rear drive. BV. 2 Omre’s Admiravel Crazy Man In Beard, B/R shown in excellent condition, another quality boy, large head with good width between the ears, round, dark expressive eyes, good turn up, good width to chest, legs straight and has nice bone. Small cat-like feet. Would prefer a touch more angulation for him to drive from the rear. 3 Suggitts Ir CH Aptrick Time For Elevenses CW19. MPD (5) 1 Price & Burns’ Marquant New Order, eyecatching R/R, still raw as expected at this age but has everything going for him, super head & expression, small high set ears, good neck into well laid shoulders & short back, correct tailset. Small feet. High set tail. Excellent rear angulation. Super mover, with good reach and drive, with a little more maturity I can see him carrying his title. 2 Spurr’s Zilcan Kick Boxer, R/R another with lots to like, pleasing head properties, topline is level, good length to body, good rear angulation, sound mover with great reach and drive. 3 Patrick’s Norymarbi Pantalaimon Lyra at Cohavrick. PD (1) Selby, Allen & Whitehead’s Zilcan Sunbeam, 10 months R/R, he presents a super shape, lovely large head and eye, short wide muzzle with good turn up, small high set ears, giving that cheeky expression. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front and standing on good bone, good width to chest, he has a short back, firm topline and super tailset, good rear angulation. Lovely free mover, with good rear drive, surely destined for the top. BPIS. JD(4,1) 1 Barney’s Cilleine Just Fun R/R of a super shape, pleasing head & skull and well placed ears of a good size, dark eye and prominant chin, decent width of muzzle, deep stop Good for neck, he is well bodied and has good bone. Straight front, good depth to chest and standing on small feet. Good length to body, well angulated rear. Tailset good. Best mover of the class, moving true for and aft. 2 Mackay’s Osthaen Master Of The Scene, Red Smooth, head of a good size, dark eye, well set ears. Good depth of chest, pasterns could be stronger. Well angulated rear. Moved OK. 3 Wood’s Star Griff Sheridan at Delighbull (Imp UKR) YD (1) Carpenter’s Beauborne Ray Bane at Xyliabud, very good head shape with a strong underjaw. Dark, expressive eye, small well set ears, good width to chest. Moved OK but could have a touch more drive. LD (7) A nice class 1 Selby, Allen, Whitehead & Hannigan’s Zilcan Parker, R/R of obvious quality. Super outline. Loved his large, round head and expression, round, dark expressive eyes, good width between the ears. Well defined stop, wide muzzle with good turn up giving that cheeky expression. Good width and depth of chest. Standing on straight legs of good bone. Good spring of rib. Small feet. Short, level back. Well musceled hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Low hocks. High set tail, carried over the back on the move. Lovely free mover showing excellent reach and drive. Shown in an excellent rough jacket. BD & BIS. 2nd Mercer’s Hierners Vidocq at Fennymore (IMP Swe) I thought this young R/R would be my winner on first glance, he has such a typical Griffon Bruxellois outline, he has a handsome large head with a super expression, dark round eyes, wide muzzle and a good turn up of chin. Super bone, legs and feet. Carries a solid body. Short back, topline is firm. High set tail carried correctly over the back. Muscled hindquarters, and low hocks. He moved out well but did not have the rear drive of 1 today, the exhibitor had left before the challenge so could not compete for RBD when called. 3 Blore’s Movalian Firestorm. OD (4,2) 1 Swinge’s Balthazar Supersonic ShCEX, 4 year R/R who I have judged previously at different stages of his career. Well balanced. Large head with good proportions. Dark eye with a keen expression, good front, legs and feet. Decent length to body. Topline is firm at all times. Tail high set and carried over the back on the move. Good rear angulation. Really sound mover fore and aft.. RBD. MPB (2) 1 Oliver-Barratt & Barratt’s Norymarbi Stelmaria Asriel, B/T Smooth. She has a pretty head, with small well set ears, dark eye with a pleasing expression, good neck, straight front, good width and depth of chest. Correct tailset. Moved with good reach. 2 Gullon’s Barnfall Vanity, R/S, this girl did not make the best account of herself today. PB (5,1) 1 Wood’s Delightbull Lady In Red, promising puppy heading this class. Presenting a lovely outline. She has a lovely head, good width between the ears, ears small and set high. Good bone and feet. Short back and topline is firm. Well angulated rear, with low hocks. Tail is set high. She moved out soundly with pleasing reach and drive. 2 Suggitt’s Aptrick Gateau Noir, another nice youngster. Pleasing head and cheeky expression. She is of a nice shape, correct high set tail, level topline. Good rear angulation and moved out soundly. JB (6,3) 1 Conway & Oakden’s Movalian All Fizzed Up, smart R/R, square and cobby, very pretty head of a good size, lovely turn up, small ears, dark round eye giving her a pleasing expression. Good neck and shoulders, straight front, good width to chest, level topline and well set tail. Lovely mover showing good reach and drive. Promising. 2 Selby, Allen & Whitehead’s Zilcan Toffee Apple, another smart R/R with lots to like and I am sure will swap with 1 on another day. Large feminine head with small well set ears, good neck and topline with a high set tail. Cobby in body. Nice mover showing good reach and drive. 3 McKay’s Osthaen Fire Will Reign. YB (2,1) 1 Conway & Oakden’s Movalian All Fizzed Up. 2 Mackay’s Osthaen Im Your Fantasy. R/R, good breed type, has a large feminine head, would prefer a touch more underjaw and smaller ears to complete the picture. Cobby in body, and good bone. Good neck, topline and tailset. Moved soundly. PGB (2) Mackay’s Osthaen Cast A Spell, R/S, good head and eye with typical expression, good turn up. Lovely cobby body and well boned, good rear and correct tailset. Sound mover. 2 Carpenter Sabai Crysanthemum, 12 years and enjoying her day out. Head OK, small ears, large eyes. Good width to chest, straight front and standing on good bone. Moved OK. LB (6,3) 1 Blore’s Movalian Burning Desire, R/S, she is good for size and type, pleasing feminine head with typical expression, well placed nose, good width between the ears, compact body, high set tail. Moved out soundly with typical reach and drive. 2 Suggitt’s Aptrick Buttersky JW, R/R, she has a pleasing head and expression, small well set ears. Well placed nose. Balanced outline, level topline and correct tailset. Sound mover with good reach and drive. OB (5,2) 1 Swinge’s CH Balthazar Pillow Talk, R/R who oozes breed type. She has a large head with the correct proportions, large, dark expressive eyes, well placed nose, good width to jaw, all giving a typical expression. Super bone & feet. Good neck into well laid shoulders, well muscled hindquarters, Shown in super coat. Moved round the ring showing super reach and drive. BB. Omre’s Admirval Power Dress, B/R, another with obvious quality. Pretty head, lovely eye & ear set all contributing to a typical expression.
