ASSOCIATION OF BLOODHOUND BREEDERS OPEN SHOW

SATURDAY 5TH APRIL 2025

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge their open show; it is so sad to see these fabulous hounds with such low entries these days but understandable. I would like to thank the exhibitors for entering under me and accepting my decision in a sporting manner and whilst numerically small I was delighted with my principle winners.

Junior Dog (1,0,1)

1st WESTRON’S FARLAP KALEB Upstanding young male presenting a powerful profile. Super noble head with good proportions and correct head planes, dark eye and large black nose and good length of leather set on correctly. Lovely forequarters, plenty of bone and good feet; chest is well let down with well sprung ribs extending well back for being young. He is strong in loin and in good muscular condition. Nicely angled rear, parallel hocks. A bit exuberant and enjoying his day, when settled he covers the ground well with, purpose and carries his tail well. I am sure he will have a very bright future. RBD & RBIS

Open Dog (2,0,2)

1st PRIESTLEY’S MARKSBURY RAILWAY OF QUIKOTIC He really caught my eye on entering the ring; this dog is not exaggerated but he is powerful and really stands over the ground. He has a masculine head; good proportions and head planes, lovely dark eye and super supple leathers of good length. Lovely strong nec into a well placed shoulder he has good forelegs, plenty of bone and good feet; he is mature in body, nice deep brisket and ribs extending back. He is in lovely harsh condition. Lovely strong tail; set correctly and carried well on the move. Muscular rear, parallel hocks. He moves with a long elastic stride, covering the ground but not exaggerated in any way. BD, BOB & BIS.

2nd MCKENZIE’S MOORLANDER DIOR Mature black and tan male. Presents a balanced profile; masculine. He has a good head, well proportioned, good eye giving a typical expression and good leathers. Good forequarters and chest is well let down, ribs extending back and strong in loin. He has a good tail, set well and carried well on the move. He is well angulated and muscular at the rear. He moved well and covered the ground but I preferred the movement and feet on 1.

Limit Bitch (1,0,1)

1st WATSON & LEWIS’ MARKSBURY NIGHTINGALE Mature female presenting a good balanced profile and proportions. She has a pleasing head, typical of the breed and good leathers, set on well and of good length. Good forequarters, plenty of bone, chest is well let down and she is in good condition. Muscular rear, good strong tail set on well. A little erratic on the move today and gave her stand in handler quite the runaround. RBB

Open Bitch (2,1,1)

1st WATSON & LEWIS KENYNTEN CINNAMON WHISKY Another mature female, feminine head of good proportions with plenty of depth of muzzle, good nose and lovely leathers. Front is ok, good forelegs, sufficient bone. Good depth of chest, ribs are extending back and strong loin, good length of tail, set correctly. Moderately angled rear. Once she gets going she covers the ground but like her kennel mate she enjoyed giving her stand in handler a runaround and showing her typically stubborn side. BB
