East of Scotland CC-2nd March 2025

Thank you to the committee for the kind invitation to judge, I thoroughly enjoyed my day, and thank you to the exhibitors for their entry. I would also like to thank my two stewards who kept the ring working efficiently all day.

POINTER

Post Graduate (1)

1. Storey & Dyer’s Kimifleur Gold Standard. 4 yr old O/W bitch with a balanced clean outline. She has a beautiful well proportioned head, stop well defined, nose and eye rims dark with well set ears. Good layback of shoulder, would prefer slightly more depth to brisket. Well muscled rear quarters, moved well on a nice side gait with lashing tail.

1. Fewster & Rossiter’s Sh Ch Ir Sh Ch Joneva Just a Kiss JW ShCEx OSW. 3 yr old O/W bitch who has a nice flowing outline. She has a beautiful feminine head with correct proportions. Long neck with a slight arch which flows into well laid back shoulders and good return of upper arm. Forelegs straight with a good width between the front legs, she has compact well arched feet. Well sprung ribs gradually falling away to a strong short loin. Good width to thighs with a well bent stifle. She moved out on a good stride around the ring and was true coming and going. BOB.

Post Graduate (3,2)

1. Angus’s Edelmidpoint Native River Through Calmerell. Almost 12 mth old L/W dog, he is a medium sized dog with a clean outline and a short back. Head nicely proportioned, and skull slightly rounded between high set ears. Moderately long neck that flows into well laid back shoulders. Would prefer more length to his upper arm so that he stands over more ground, but still a young dog who is maturing. Well muscled, with nice rear angulation with good width to thighs. Moved out well around the ring. BPIB

1. Stewart’s Sh Ch Magregor Amourette avec Levagrad. 5 yr old L/W bitch, she is a good type with a flowing outline and a short back, standing over plenty of ground. Beautiful clean cut head and expression, good depth to muzzle, good brow definition. Neck clean into well laid back shoulders and a corresponding upper arm enabling her to stand over her ground. Ribs deep and reaching well back. Correct topline and croup. Moved well around the ring and up and down. BOB.

2. Mccafferty’s Thorscrag Hades JW ShCEx OSW. 2 yr old L/W dog, taller dog but still has a balanced outline. Masculine head, well proportioned to body. Straight forelegs, good layback of shoulder and very well muscled throughout and has an excellent coat. Firm topline and short strong loin. Moved well, just preferred the front assembly of 1.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER

Junior (4,1)

1. Grady & Young’s Thornywait Bring It Back Glenrioch. 14 mth old dog with a lovely balanced outline. Skull is broad and length is in proportion to the foreface, and he has a kind expression. Excellent bone and feet, and front assembly with his angles balancing with his rear. Level topline which carried on to correct set of tail. Moved really well.

2. Purdie’s Thornywait Bring Me Luck. 14 mth old bitch, litter sister to 1, and you could see the similarities when they first stood side by side. A balanced clean outline, feminine head with good set on of ears. Round feet and good bone. Excellent layback of shoulder and corresponding upper arm. Level topline. She moved well around the ring, just preferred the movement and head carriage of 1 today.

3. Campbell and Robertson’s Milliemags She’s A Rainbow. BPIB.

Post Graduate (7,5)

1. Wallis’s Lamancha Roll On Good Times. 4 yr old dog. He has a lovely masculine head, in proportion to his body, and a kind expression. Good length to his neck, which is muscular and leads into well laid back shoulders. Correct angulation fore and aft. Level topline and correct tail set. Moved really well around the ring.

2. Macleod’s Bluebraes Bidey In at Rocamar. 20 mth old dog. Has everything in the right place just needs to tighten up overall. Lovely head and expression. He is balanced with the correct front and rear angulation. He moved out well but held his tail a little high.

Open (5,3)

1. Hain’s Fhairmhor Wee Midden at Strathain. 6 yr old bitch, who was so feminine, with such a clean balanced outline and lovely head and expression. Her front legs are placed well under her body due to her correct front assembly. Straight forelegs leading to round cat like feet, ribs are deep, and she is short coupled. Well bent stifle and low set hocks helped to power her round the ring, which she did very well from all angles. BOB.

2. Wallis’s Blue Gemstone Katrina at Camellis. 6 yr old dog. Lovely masculine boy who has a beautiful head and expression and a kind dark eye. Good length to neck which was muscled. Balanced fore and aft angulation. Level topline and deep through the ribs. Well muscled rear, good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved well around the ring.

GORDON SETTER

Open (6,1)

1. Miller’s Cafotaliena Heart Of A Hero. 16 mth old dog. He won this class on his lovely outline. Still a young dog and needs to fill out in chest, but so much to like about him. Beautiful well proportioned head that is deep in profile and through the muzzle, but lean cheeks when viewed from the front. Lovely dark eye and correct ear set. Neck is long reaching to correct layback of shoulder, leading into a level topline and correct tail set. Moved well around the ring. BOB.

2. Munro’s Panthera Bad Medicine Dulmaur. 5 year old bitch who pleases in outline. She has a kind expression, correct clearly defined stop and low set ears. Preferred the topline of 1. Her ribs are well sprung and reach well back, she has a slight arch over the loin. She is long from hip to hock with stifles well bent and short hocks. Moved well.

3. Hogg’s Gailech Ngalyod.

BPIB-4th in Open-Hogg’s Gailech Wirnpa.

COCKER SPANIEL

Junior (12,3)

1. Scotland’s Lynwater Tiana. 9 mth old bitch. Loved her balanced outline and pretty head. Correct stop and squared off muzzle. Moderate length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Level topline into a slight slope at the croup to the tail set. Had a lovely merry action on the move. BPIB.

2. Todd & Rahman’s Zheridons Trademark. 9 mth old dog. Such a beautiful head and melting expression, a compact balanced dog who is well boned. Correct angulation fore and aft, with a level topline, rounded bum and correct tail set. He has a good bend of stifle and short hocks. He just wasn’t as happy on the move as 1 today.

3. Maclean & Scotland’s Lynwater Flamenco.

Post Graduate (12,4)

1. Maclean & Scotland’s Rosecourt Tuxedo. 17 mth old dog. Has a pleasing balanced outline, correct head proportions, stop, square muzzle and ear set. Clean neck into correct front angulation, level topline and tail set. He has a good bend of stifle and low hocks, and moved very well around the ring.

2. Neatham’s Shoogsea Heir JW. 20 mth old dog. Another smart boy with a balanced outline. He has a lovely head and kind eye, a moderate length of neck into good shoulder placement. Level topline with slight slope to croup, good bend of stifle and low hocks. A beautiful silky coat. He gave his handler a bit of a hard time but was very merry on the move and moved very well.

3. Maclean & Scotland’s Lynwater Moon Walk.

Open (9,1)

1. Smith’s Pearkim Pokemon at Luanshya JW. 7 yr old dog who is the epitome of a merry Cocker, he is so happy and never stops wagging his tail. He is compact in outline and balanced, and flows from nose to tail. Lovely head, and soft expression, with a square muzzle and correct stop. Moderate neck into well laid back shoulders, level topline and a rounded bum. True movement covering his ground well with that lovely merry action. BOB.

2. Sinclair’s Chataway Dress Tartan at Duclarus JW ShCEx OSW. 4 yr old bitch who has such a beautiful feminine head with a melting expression. Compact in outline, moderate neck that flows into a level topline. Balanced angulation fore and aft, and moved very well around the ring.

HUNGARIAN VIZSLA

Open (9,1)

1. Mason & Clubb’s Oroshaza Bumble Bee JW. 2 ½ yr old bitch. She took my eye in this class as she is of a medium size with a lovely clean outline. Correct head proportions with a kind expression. She has excellent front angulation with a good length to her upper arm, straight forelegs and correct feet. Her back is level and short. Moderate rear angulation and hocks well let down. She moved very well. BOB.

2. Murray & Parker’s Szelkiraly’s Foolproof. 11 mth old dog. He is taller and leggier at the moment and needs to fill his frame. That said he is an upstanding dog and has a clean outline, with a beautiful lean and noble head showing a lot of work in it. He is balanced throughout with a level topline, and moved very well around the ring. BPIB.

3. Murray & Parker’s True Magic Of Skyrocket at Szelkiraly JW.

LABRADOR RETRIEVER

Junior (2,1)

1. Campbell’s Binnaig Sea Salt. 11 mth old bitch. Full of life and a lovely nature about her, loved her clean flowing outline and coat. Beautiful expression and feminine head that is clean cut but with the correct broad skull and stop. Excellent front angulation placing front legs well under her body, forelegs straight and well boned. Deep chest and well sprung ribs, level topline and short coupled. Muscular hindquarters with a well turned stifle and low set hocks. She moved very well and her tail never stopped wagging. BOB and BPIB.

1. Lawrence’s Dunnabbey Step Outside. 7 year old dog. Lovely mature boy, strongly built with a pleasing outline. Good head and ear, skull broad with correct stop. Strong, powerful neck into well laid shoulders and a level topline. Deep chest and a good spring of rib. Preferred the rear assembly of 1. Moved steady around the ring.

HUNGARIAN WIREHAIRED VIZSLA

Open (3,1)

1. Hamilton’s Redrafi Mutai with Noreaster. 11 mth old dog. Such a lovely medium sized dog with a flowing outline and a harsh wire coat. He has a kind expression and a well proportioned head, correct furnishings which gives him the square appearance and beard. Correct angulation front and rear giving him balance, level back to a slight slope to the croup. He moved very well. BOB, BPIB, G4 and PG2.

2. Leslie’s Stripehead Impact. 3 year old dog. He was nice in outline but lacks in coat. Head of good proportions set on a moderate length of neck. Liked his length of upper arm and is moderate throughout. Preferred the topline of 1. Moved well.

IRISH SETTER

Open (10,4)

1. Murchison’s Kerryfair Please Please Me Corphin. 6 yr old dog. Lovely mature dog with racy lines. His head is long and lean with a kind expression. Moderate length of neck into a good layback of shoulder with good length of upper arm, he is deep in chest and narrower in front. Correct topline gently sloping from withers. Muscular hindquarters and long from hip to hock. He moved very well. BOB.

2. Jacobs & Bernard’s Forfarian Fancy Footwork JW. 17mth old dog. He is a lovely upstanding young dog. Head is long and lean and has depth to his muzzle. Kind expression and correct ear set. He is a little wider in front and just needs to tighten in elbows which will come as he matures. Correct topline and tail set. Long from hip to hock, with a good bend of stifle and low set hocks. Another who moved very well.

3. Macfarlane’s Harelferg New Tricks for Umfrido ShCEx.

BPIB-4th in Open-Macfarlane’s Harelferg Macfarlane for Umfrido. A lovely quality young dog with lots to like. PG4.

CLUMBER SPANIEL

1. Nicolson’s Clumbus Jolly Jumper of Taranstigh DNK IMP. 5 yr old dog. Loved his outline, so balanced and well boned. Super head large and square, broad on top with deep flews. Strong neck into excellent front assembly. Long well muscled body with deep ribs. Hocks low which he used to drive around the ring, sound mover. BOB and G3.

2. Nicolson’s Knockhalon Spooktacular of Taranstigh. 16 mth old dog, son of 1. Another lovely dog, just not the maturity yet of 1. Lovely head with heavy brows and deep stop. Balanced angulation and long in body, good topline. Moved very well.

3. Nixon’s Stonielea Williams Charm at Glenbruetti.

CURLY COATED RETRIEVER

Open (3,1)

1. Bain’s Crimblescurl Time To Tango at Wenichones JW. 4yr old bitch. She has a balanced outline and has a touch of elegance. Beautiful feminine wedge shaped head, which is in proportion to body. Strong medium length neck into well placed shoulders, with corresponding length to upper arm and straight forelegs. Level topline, and she is slightly longer than her height. Moderate turn of stifle and low hocks. She moved well around the ring and was very happy. BOB.

2. Cummings’s Molokain Enchanted One. 5 yr old bitch. Pleasing in outline, beautiful head, and melting expression, correct wedge shape. Lovely strong clean neck, with slight arch, into good front assembly. She has a strong deep chest. Beautiful curls to her coat. Moderate rear angulation. Moved well but not as animated as 1.

ITALIAN SPINONE

1. Knowles, Knowles & Glen’s Bessalone Shameless ShCEx. 3 yr old dog. Loved his type and correct outline. Excellent head proportions with divergent head planes, he has a lean skull and depth to his muzzle, kind expression and correct ear set. Well muscled neck into correct lay of shoulder and corresponding length to upper arm. Unexaggerated correct topline to slight slope of broad croup, good bend of stifle. He is solid and well muscled throughout with correct coarse coat. Moved effortlessly around the ring maintaining his topline. BOB and G1.

2. Knowles, Knowles, Glen & Malcolm’s Sanjika Icona at Bessalone. 2 yr old bitch. Beautiful head and expression, correct proportions and divergent planes. Clean strong neck flows into well laid shoulders, excellent front assembly and good bone. Not the topline or rear angulation of 1. Moved ok.

SUSSEX SPANIEL

1. Mowbray’s Sh Ch Crumbledor Reubus Hagrid ShCEx. 4 ½ yr old dog. Strongly built dog with the correct roll on the move. Masculine head with width to skull, frown and kind expression. Long strong neck into well laid back shoulders, straight front and well boned. Body strong and level, chest deep and ribs extend back to a firm loin. Moved well. BOB.

2. Mcgeachie’s Malbecmogs Lady Of The Lake at Klanhallion. 13 mth old bitch, and daughter to 1. Lovely head and expression, pronounced stop. Good forehand assembly, strong and level in body. Very lively tail action. Moved out on a good stride.

1. Weaving’s Ir Sh Ch Stanegate Cast A Spell. 4 yr old bitch. Beautiful smart outline with a lovely head and melting expression. Good length of neck, excellent angulation fore and aft. Well sprung ribs and a short, broad, level back. Short hocks which helped her move with drive on a free gait. BOB.

Open (10, 3)

1. Logie’s Graf III Vom Busshof at Albadhu (Large Munsterlander). 20 mth old dog. Liked him for his clean outline and free movement. He has a lovely proportioned head, kind eye and expression. Strong neck into well placed shoulders and good length of upper arm, deep brisket and straight forelegs. Correct body to height proportions, strong loin and correct set on of tail. He moved on an excellent free stride around the ring. BAVNSC and G2.

2. Hodgkinson-Rutherford & Rutherford’s Rainethyme Rerite The Rules for Chanderhill (Spanish Water Dog). 7 mth old dog. What a lovely young dog he is, he is so well balanced and presents a very pleasing outline. Correct head proportions, ears set slightly above eye level. Short muscular neck into excellent front assembly, straight forelegs. Level back and is slightly longer in body than his height to withers. Moderate rear angulation and hocks well let down. He moved with purpose and drive. BPAVNSC and PG1. Delighted to hear that he went RBPIS.

3. Weimaraner. Gutherie’s Sireva Mayhem. 9mth old dog. He was stood much better in this group. He is a lovely type with the preferred silver grey colour. Balanced in outline with a lovely head and ear. Good front assembly with balanced moderate rear angulation and a level topline. Covered his ground well on the move.

1. Smith’s Pearkim Pokemon at Luanshya JW (Cocker Spaniel). See BOB in Cocker Spaniel. BV. Delighted to hear he also went RBVIS.

2. Miller’s Rhum Night Legend ShCM VW (Gordon Setter). 11 yr old, I judged him a couple of years ago and he really does belie his age. He has a lovely balanced outline with well proportioned head, long neck into well laid shoulders and level topline. Good rear angulation and low set hocks, moved very well.

3. MacLaine and Dickson’s Greyspirit Rock Star from Hantzburg JW ShCEx OSW VW (Weimaraner).

AV GUNDOG VETERAN BITCH

1. MacLaine and Dickson’s Greyspirit Purdue JW ShCM ShCEx VW CJW17 CW22 CVW24 (Weimaraner). 9 yr old, who certainly doesn’t look her age. Classic and clean in outline. Feminine well proportioned head with plenty of work in it and kind expression. Correct ear set with slight fold to ear. Moderately long and clean neck into well placed shoulders and good length to upper arm. Level topline and slight tuck up to flank. She has the correct body proportions that the standard calls for being greater in body length than her height to withers, with the correct length to her rib cage. Moderate rear angulation that is balanced to her front. Lovely ground covering movement.

2. Fewster’s Sonstraal Only An Illusion JW ShCM ShCEx VW (Pointer). 8 ½ yr old and another quality bitch. She is very typical in outline and flows from nose to tail. Beautiful head and expression, long neck with a slight arch that flows into her well placed shoulders. Straight forelegs and good oval bone. Ribs are deep and are carried well back to a short loin. She moved very well with a true action.

3. Dyer’s Benton Small Talk among Tylwyth IMP FIN (Chesapeake Bay Retriever).
