Ashington And District 09/02/25

I’d like to thank June and the committee of Ashington Canine for the invitation to judge the Gundogs at their Premier show. I’d also like to thank my expert steward Joy for keeping the ring flowing well. Overall there were some very nice quality exhibits today and many went unplaced however with Gundogs I do like to feel muscle and unfortunately there were a few today which lacked that muscletone or were overweight.

6mnth bitch showing loads of potential. Loved her well proportioned rounded head with a gorgeous expression. Well angled fore and rear. Well ribbed even at this age. Nice feet and moved well Should have a good future. BP PG3

23 mth old Black/Tan dog Nicely rounded head with a pleasing expression. Well set ears of good length Long slightly arched neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Correct body proportions with slightly sloping topline. Beautiful coat Moved well; BOB

2nd – Morris and Jefferson’s MyCalleys Koko

23 mth old bitch, litter sister of the winner with very similar attributes just preferred head and movement of 1 but I’m sure they’ll swap regularly.

7 mnth old dog. Still very raw. Masculine well chiselled head. Good length to ear and set well. Well angled front assembly. Correct slight slope and rising topline. Well sprung rib for a youngster. Would prefer a bit more width of thigh but he’s still young. Moved well when settled. BP

23 mth old male. Typical masculine head with correct planes and good proportions. Well off for bone. Correct topline, with a good depth of brisket. Well muscled. Just a little erratic on the move but when settled showed tremendous reach and drive.

1st Pearson’s Swiss Ch Kelevra Covo Di Ladri JW

Judged this girl as a youngster loved her then and she didn’t disappoint in the breed today. Well sculptured feminine head with correctly diverging head planes. Gorgeous expression. Correct body proportions and well muscled hindquarters Moved around the ring with good reach and drive. BOB just let herself down in the group as I think she was spooked.

15 month dog with masculine head. Good head with a pleasing expression. Clean eye with minimum haw. Well angled front assembly, long strong body with level top line and strong loin. Well bent stifle with low hocks. Moved well with enough drive. Presented in excellent condition BOB G4

15 month od male. Attractive masculine head. Keen eye with a square muzzle. Good length to ear and low set. Muscular medium neck flowing into level topline. Good width to thigh. Correct front and rear angulation. Moved well with a good ground covering drive, wagging his well set tail all of the way. BOB

2nd Davies’ Annaside You Are My Sunshine

Just over 2yr red bitch. Smaller but well made. Well proportioned feminine head with a kind eye. Balance in profile. Good forehand assembly and decent width of thigh. Moved well just preferred 1’s movement.

4yr old compact bitch with a lovely shape of correct dimensions. Gorgeous head with a square muzzle. Firm top line. Balanced angles. Nice feet. Moved well.

2nd Terry’s Shaggylands Don’t Look Back

11.5 mth male. Lots to like. Well proportioned head. Correct topline moved well but would prefer a little less weight.

2 lovely bitches in this class. This bitch has well shaped chiselled head with a gorgeous expression. Slightly longer in back but well ribbed. Balanced angles fore and aft. Nice wide thigh moved well

2nd Crawford’s Totenkopf Double Dutch Device

Slightly smaller compact bitch who has lots to like. Pleasing head with well placed ears of good length. Nice tight feet. Moved well just preferred the rear movement of 1.

10 month old l/w bitch. Very unsettled and giving her handler a real hard time. Well proportioned head with correct ear placement. Nice tight feet. Good turn of stifle. Moved OK when settled but losing her topline due to her erratic movement at times. BP

Just over a year old very pale Bitch. Femine head with just about enough width to skull. Nice dark nose. Well placed shoulder and front angulation. Good length to body with a level topline. Nice tight feet with correct slope to pasterns. Moved well.

What a smart boy. Just over 3yr. Unmistakenly masculine head with a keen expression. Good depth to muzzle. Broad skull. Strong neck of good length. So balanced in outline with correct angles fore and aft. Well muscled thigh of good width. Low parallel hocks. Moved with superb reach and drive. A well deserved BOB and G3

Very sweet 3.5yr pale bitch. Gorgeous head with correct broad skull. Good length to neck flowing into level topline. Well placed shoulders on a well constructed front assembly. Good depth of brisket. Well turned stifle with a good width to thigh. Nice tight feet. Well coated Moved well but lacked some sparkle which lost her place in the challenge.

What can I say other than WOW what a cracker. Has everything about him I liked. Strong head with flat skull Well placed ears. Strong short neck flowing naturally into a superb topline. So balanced in profile with balanced angles front and rear. Correct height to length ratios. Nice width to thigh. Excellent coat with corded texture. Moved with such reach and drive. BP and couldn’t deny him PG1. Will follow his career with interest.

Another nice example of the breed. 1yr old dog. Pleasing head of good shape. Good front assembly. Level top line. Good coat texture. Well turned stifle with hocks well let down Preferred movement of 1.

2yr old male I’ve admired from the ringside previously and wasn’t disappointed when going over him. Pleasing head of correct proportions and flat skull. Short strong neck flowing into his topline. Good front angles. Deep brisket with plenty heart room. Well sprung ribs. Correct coat texture. Good width of thigh. Nice feet. Moved with great reach and drive. BOB G2

Another good specimen. Very rustic looking coat. Flat skull and good ear placement. Short muscular neck set on well placed shoulders. Good spring of rib. Strong loin. Moved well.

Loved this boy as soon as he stepped in the ring. So much to appeal to the eye. Correct square body with the preferred topline. Well off for bone Diverging head planes. Deep muzzle Gorgeous expression. Correct coat texture Well muscled neck which isn’t over long. Well angled front. Nice feet with correct slope on pasterns and not overly sloped. Well ribbed and moved an absolute dream to easily win this group.

Well boned. Moved well when not messing around for her handler but showed enough to deserve her group placing.
