I would like to thank the hardworking committee of North Wales Cocker Spaniel Club for the honour of judging their Breed Open Show at Trefnant Village Hall, Denbighshire. It was a privilege to go over the dogs presented, and I sincerely appreciate the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity and for accepting my placings so graciously.

The show was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, making it a truly enjoyable day. A special thank you to my stewards, Ivor Williams and Judith McBride, for ensuring everything ran smoothly, and to my wife, Sharon, for capturing the day with her photos and sharing videos.

It was a fantastic experience, and I am grateful to everyone who contributed to making it such a success.

Any Colour Baby Puppy Dog or Bitch [6 1]

1st Edwards Manlinson Return Ticket 5½ month old Blue roan male of good breed type, presented in excellent condition, good bone and feet, head is balanced with good height to length proportions. Sound coming and going and held a good topline in movement.

2nd Tomlinson Milalder Breeze of Grace 5 month Black & white female of pleasing breed type, presented in excellent condition, she has a nice head with a kind expression, the front is good and stands on firm cat like feet. She has good proportions and is very square and cobby with big ribs. Sound coming and going and kept a level topline in movement.

Minor Puppy Dog [2 0]

1st Eisen Crankwoods Quick Step 7 month old Black male of good type, presented in lovely condition, he has a nice head and dark eyes, good reach of neck, the shoulders are well placed but the upper arm could be better angled and slightly longer. He is short & cobby with a correct topline, stands on correct feet with straight columns. He has good hindquarters and a good turn of stifle, Sound coming and going and kept a correct topline in movement. BEST PUPPY.

2nd Kengyelics Zheridons Tradeoff with Hebdene A very attractive 7 month old male of excellent breed type, presented in excellent condition. He has a lovely head with melting dark eyes, good reach of neck sitting on correct shoulders with a good length and angle of the upper arm. Strong bones with cat like feet, good brisket, big ribs. Correct hindquarters, sound coming and going and kept a correct topline. He seemed a little overawed today, which affected his performance.

Minor Puppy Bitch [1 0]

1st Prydderch Rockllocers Thistletail 7 month old black & tan female presented in excellent condition, she’s very typey with a lovely feminine head and dark eyes, good length of neck sitting on well placed shoulders and good length and angle of the upper arm. She has good bone and firm well padded feet with straight front legs. She has a firm topline with a wide loin and good ribs. Very good hindquarters and is sound coming and going, maintaining a firm topline. RESERVE BEST PUPPY.

Puppy Dog or Bitch[4 0]

1st Williams Rosetta Queen Frankie A 10 month old Blue Roan female of correct breed type, presented in lovely condition. Nice head and dark eyes, moderate neck which sits on correct shoulders, she has a good front, with strong bones and straight columns, very short and cobby with big ribs. The hindquarters are correct with a good turn of stifle, sound coming and going. In movement she has good reach and drive, keeping a level topline.

2nd Tomlinson Milalder April Showers 10 month old orange roan female, presented in good condition, nice feminine head, good reach of neck, sitting on correct shoulders with a good front assembly. She has strong bones with correct feet which are well padded, correct level topline and a short wide loin. Very good hindquarters and a good turn of stifle. Sound coming and going, holding a level topline in movement.

Junior Dog or Bitch[7 1]

1st Williams Bitcon Take a Chance For Wyndsmoor 12 month old blue roan female of excellent breed type, presented in good coat and condition. She has a lovely head and expression, complemented by dark, expressive eyes. Her reach of neck flows smoothly into a well-placed shoulder and a long, well-angled upper arm. She stands on firm, cat-like feet with excellent bone, strength, and straight front legs. Her topline is firm, with well-sprung ribs and a short, wide loin. She possesses excellent hindquarters, a good turn of stifle, and strong hocks. Sound both coming and going, she moves with reach while maintaining a firm topline. A quality bitch who made it into my final four.

2nd Tavernor Cassom Dancing Queen At Regaltav 16-month-old light blue female of excellent type, beautifully presented in lovely coat and condition. She has a gorgeous head and expression with dark, tight eyes. Her good reach of neck flows into correctly sloping shoulders and a well-angled, long upper arm. Strong-boned with straight columns and firm, cat-like feet. Compact and cobby, she boasts an excellent spring of rib and a strong, wide loin. Her hindquarters are excellent, with a well-bent stifle and strong, short hocks. Sound on the move, she maintains a firm topline coming and going. Really liked these 2 females and on another day could easily change places.

Maiden Dog or Bitch [2 0]

1st Prydderch Rockllocers Baby Angel 9 month Black & tan female presented in good condition, good type with a nice head & expression, front assembly is correct but would like a better angle of the upperarm, stands on strong straight columns with firm well padded feet. Short, cobby with a wide loin and correct ribs. Sound coming and going with a firm level topline in movement.

Novice Dog or Bitch [3 1]

1st Eisen Rockllocers Capno 12 month old golden female with a lot to like, put down in good condition, nice head and expression, good reach of neck and correct shoulders. The front is good but would like the upper arm to be longer. She has strong bones and correct feet with a short straight back and wide loin. Very good turn of stifle and short hocks, sound coming and going and maintains a level topline in movement.

2nd Proudler Kimapa Kwackers Kwtch 16 month liver roan female of good type & presented in very good condition, pleasing head and expression, good reach of neck sitting on good shoulders. The front is good but the upper arm could be better angled. Her bones are strong and feet correct, short back with good ribs. Good hindquarters with a good turn of stifle. Sound coming and going with good movement but the topline could be firmer but well presented.

Graduate Dog or Bitch [5 0]

1st Young Canyonn Classic Vision JW 2½ year old black female, presented in excellent coat and condition. She has a lovely head and expression with dark eyes, complemented by an excellent reach of neck flowing into correct shoulder placement and a well-assembled front. She stands on correct, firm feet with straight columns, displaying a square, cobby outline with a level topline and well-sprung ribs. Sound coming and going, maintaining her topline effortlessly in movement

2nd Pendlebury Chataway New Beginning at Sandabys 18 month old Black female presented in good order, she has a good head and expression and dark eyes, good reach of neck sitting on correct shoulders with a good front assembly. She has strong bones & correctly padded feet. Short strong back with good ribs & a wide loin, very good hindquarters & bend of stifle, sound coming and going maintaining a firm topline in movement.

Post graduate dog or Bitch [7 2]

1st Young Canyonn Black Caviar JW Two-and-a-half-year-old black male, presented in excellent coat and condition. He has a lovely head and expression with dark eyes, a good reach of neck flowing into correctly placed shoulders and a well-angled upper arm. He stands on strong feet and pasterns with excellent bone. His topline is firm and level, with a good spring of rib and a short, strong loin. Sound coming and going, with well-constructed hindquarters and short hocks. Maintained his firm topline at all speeds and shortlisted to the final four.

2nd Williams Bitcon Sea of Dreams of Wyndsmoor 2 year old light blue female of very good type presented in good coat & condition, she has a nice head, dark eyes and correct length of neck which sits on correct sloping shoulders & a good angle of the upper arm. She stands on straight columns with correct feet & pasterns. Sound coming and going, very good hindquarters, short hocks maintaining a firm top line in movement.

Special Beginners Dog or Bitch [6 1]

1st Mason Sandlauga Candy Crush 4 year old Blue Roan female of good type presented in lovely condition, pleasing head & expression, dark eyes. The moderate reach of neck sits on correct shoulders and the front assembly is correct, she is short & cobby with big ribs and a short wide loin, strong bones and correct feet & pasterns. Very good hindquarters and a good turn of stifle with short strong hocks, sound fore & aft and keeps a firm topline in movement.

2nd Tavernor Cassom Blue Muse at Regaltav 4 year old Blue Roan female of very good breed type presented in very good coat & condition, she has a lovely head & expression & dark eyes correct length of neck, correct shoulders & front assembly. Stands on straight columns with good feet & pastern. She is short & cobby with big ribs, very good hind quarters & short hocks. Sound coming and going. She could hold a firmer topline which would enhance the overall presentation and was the deciding factor today. On another day I could easily see these two swapping places.

1st Morris Riondel Solitaire 2½year old Blue roan female of super breed type, presented in lovely coat & condition. She has a lovely head & expression with dark eyes & good reach of neck which sit on correct shoulders with a long well angled upperarm. She stands on straight legs with cat like feet. Very square & cobby body and a straight level topline and a short wide loin. Her excellent hindquarters & turn of stifle and short strong hocks allow her to move with good reach and drive maintaining a very firm topline in movement. I judged this female last year and my opinion hasn’t changed of her excellent qualities. RESERVE BEST IN SHOW & BEST OPPOSITE SEX.

She has a nice head & expression with dark eyes, nice reach of neck on correct shoulders with good front angulation. She stands on correct feet with straight columns. She is very short & cobby with a correct level topline. Sound coming & going with good reach and drive, keeping a firm topline.

1st Jones Oktumi Star Chaser 3 year old Blue roan male presented in good coat and condition. He has a very good head, dark eyes and good reach of neck sitting on correct shoulders. He has a level tope line & strong wide loin, excellent hindquarters & turn of stifle. He stands on strong straight bones with correctly padded feet, sound coming & going. In movement he has a good reach & drive maintaining a firm topline.

1st Coombes Tomarisroan Star Maker 2 year old Light blue female of excellent type and presented in good order. She has a good head & dark eye, good reach of neck sitting on correct shoulders with a good front assembly. She is short & cobby with a strong loin and firm topline,straight front legs & short sound hocks. Her good hindquarters & turn of stifle allow her to move with good reach & drive through a firm back.

1st Morris SH CH Riondel Candyman JW What can I say about this excellent male that hasn’t been said before, he entered the ring and just owned it at 7 years young this super Blue roan male was presented in top form. He has a lovely head & expression, dark eyes, lovely reach of neck sitting on correct shoulders with a correct length and return of the upper arm giving him an excellent front assembly. He stands on cat like feet with excellent bone & substance, his short back with well sprung ribs gives a very cobby outline. He has excellent hindquarters and a good turn of stifle with strong neat hocks. Very Sound coming and going. In movement he portrayed a very harmonious picture with great reach & drive through a firm topline. It was an honour to go over him and give him BEST IN SHOW & BEST VETERAN

2nd Morris SH CH Riondel Caribbean Blu Litter sister to my winner and every bit as good. This 7 year old blue roan female put down again in super form a recurring theme from this successful kennel, she has a lovely head and expression, dark eyes and good reach of neck sitting on correct shoulders with an excellent front assembly. She is very short & cobby with a strong wide loin and a firm topline, standing on correct feet & straight columns, excellent hindquarters and a good turn of stifle with strong short hocks. In movement she has good reach & drive coming from a very firm topline and presents a very pleasing picture at all times. I had to call her back in the challenge to compete against her daughter who I thought had the edge on the day with youth on her side.
