Thank you to the Society for inviting me to judge your show and the hospitality afforded me.

My thanks to my two stewards on the day who kept everything running smoothly and my biggest thanks to all that entered under me and afforded me the privilege of assessing their dogs and the sportsmanlike like behaviour throughout. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day, and I do have a soft spot for local North East shows always having that “coming home” feeling, the friendliness and camaraderie among the exhibitors of the area is second to none.

On the day mouths were generally ok , the odd missing tooth , chipped tooth and a couple of tight canines and places considered accordingly but nothing for any huge concerns throughout the exhibits, I found no problems with tight nares or breathing issues , fitness again was of varying degree which did affect some places on the day and please remember as an exhibitor you maybe cannot change the conformation of your dog but you can present them in the best possible manner on the day and give yourself every chance possible.

Puppy (1,1)

Junior (4, 0)

1st 15. Geordiestoon Queen of Fury, (B 29.07.24) Philipps Mrs S,

Brindle Bitch with white front and feet of almost 15 months and ahead of the rest of the class on maturity. Well defined and very appealing head of good width and depth with a strong muzzle of correct proportions and nicely open nares. Correctly set dark eyes that gave her a very endearing expression, ears could be tidier but keen and alert throughout the class to make the most of what she has. She has a good strong underjaw and clean in the lip, good width to her clean straight front and enough bone, strong but not overly short neck leading into correct shoulders, good angulation front and rear when correctly stacked and decent depth to her brisket. Plenty of rib at this stage and correctly coupled with plenty of strength and definition in her rear quarters, held a level topline stacked and on the move, moved and handled ok after settling. She was presented in a good level of fitness and overall clean, a touch lighter in the loin for me would complete the picture of fine tuning to make the most of her.

2nd 3. Bullybranch Clever Coal, (D 06.10.24) Cockerham Mrs C & Mr A,

Red dog of just 12 months old. In general, less all over to my first place and giving away 3 months, but lots to offer and lots of time to get there. Pleasing head with a defined stop and good length of muzzle, eyes dark enough, ears quite flighty at the moment but time to settle. Clean in foreface and tight lipped with enough underjaw, ok for bone and clean straight front. Angulation ok, presented in a reasonable level of fitness for age without anything being overdone, moved ok holding a level topline, once settled, handled well, just preferred the overall fitness and maturity of the class winner.

Novice (1,0)

1st 14. Geordiestoon Agamemnon (D 29.07.24) Mr A Philipps

Brindle dog of almost 15 months with white blaze to front and obvious litter brother to my first in junior. Stood alone in class. Overall, a strong youngster with head of good proportions to compliment, showing good width and depth, good skull to muzzle ratio and ample underjaw. Enthusiastic in the ring, which is always good to see, eyes dark, ears tidy and used well for good expression. Short powerful neck flowing into correct lay of shoulder and showing fore chest. Plenty of bone, and enough width to a decent straight front and good depth of brisket. Front and rear angulation ok, ample rib with good width to rear. Moved and handled ok holding a level top line.

Post Graduate (4,1)

1st 22. Geordiestaff Toon Army, (D 04.04.24) Wilkie, Miss J

Brindle male of just over 18 months pleasing head with enough strength, dark enough eyes, good length to muzzle with adequate underjaw and clean in the lip. Good width to his front and ok for bone, feet tidy with correct turn out at pasterns, good front and rear angulations, ok for rib and correctly coupled, would have preferred a little more width and strength to his rear quarters but presented in a decent fit condition. In general, a little less of him all over than I would normally like but still maturing and a tidy dog that will hold his own in the right competition. He moved well and one of the better movers on the day, holding a level topline and could see the best efforts being put forward by this team so please keep up the good work and continue practice to put this fella forward in the best way possible

2nd 20. Daisy Duke Mooncake Von Der Rennstadt (Imp Deu) (B 23.07.21) Seaton Ms SL

Black Brindle bitch of 4 years. She has a head of good strength with correct skull to muzzle ratio, tidy enough ears, eyes dark enough, to give good expression when prompted. Well off for bone with good width to a clean straight front and tidy feet, little longer cast, plenty of rib and correctly coupled and good strength to her rear. Once she got into her stride a good little mover though she was lacking a little enthusiasm today, preferred the overall balance on the class winner

3rd 18. Marstaff Red Arizona at Priordan (B 15.03.24) Robinson & Charviille Miss D and Mr D

Open Dog (7,2)

1st 17. Ch Niatona Wreck it Ralph (23.07.21) Reynolds Mr G & Mrs

Flashy red and white quality dog of 4 years and one I have previously had the pleasure of judging as a junior. Smashing head on this one complimented by the symmetrical flashy markings, good width, and depth to skull with a strong muzzle of correct proportions, great underjaw and clean in lip, well developed cheek bumps, just the start of this boy to draw you in. On his toes throughout to show the rest how it’s done and no surprise at all he gained his title. A very well-balanced overall picture with good bone, lovely, neat feet, and a cracking front of good width, exceptionally clean all over and really ticking all the boxes for me, nothing overdone. Though like most Staffords not being able to resist checking out the floor at points he settled well into his stride, flowing up and down the mat for the best movement on the day I was most pleased to have the chance of going over him again as the finished article. Presented in tip top condition, 10/10 for his fitness and the one to beat on the day, handled to perfection, no hesitation in awarding him Best of Breed and pleased to stay on and watch him get awarded 3rd BIS, thank you for bringing him along.

2nd 11. Kalostaff Es Lo Que Es JW (26.11.22) Lloyd Mr S & Mrs A

Strong Black Brindle of coming up 3 years and another I have judged before. No doubt he excels on fitness with the hands only confirming what is plain to see ready to burst out of his tight-fitting coat it’s obvious his owners have put a lot of work into him. Strong head of good proportions, correct length to muzzle just not as clean in the lip as my class winner, eyes dark enough and tidy ears used well, another very much the showman and knew his job well. Decent width to a well-toned front with good front and rear angulation, very pleasing in side profile , well ribbed and underline flowing nicely up into a well-muscled loin and rear quarters of steel which he used well on the move to drive him up and down the mat holding a good level topline, a close call but preferred the head and expression on the class winner, pleased to award him Reserve Best of Breed , good luck for the future and thank you for bringing him.

Open Bitch (6,1)

1st 7. Geordiestaff Nee Botha JW (07.10.20) Hall, L

Black Brindle of 5 years I judged on a couple of other occasions through her career as a junior and in maturity. She was enjoying her time in the ring and gives the impression she knows exactly what to do, just needing someone there to hold her lead and tick that box. She is overall a very well-balanced standard bitch with a clean feminine head of good strength without exaggeration, dark well-placed eyes of correct shape, clean in foreface with a good underjaw, lovely neat ears and used very well to give great expression, correct length to her muzzle and nice open nares. Enough width to her clean straight front, adequate bone and lovely tidy well maintained feet to give a pleasing picture viewed from front. In side profile she demonstrates a clean outline with a good amount of rib, correct coupling and front and rear angulation is good, a level topline and held well on the move, handled well and moved well. She was presented in good condition and was very much in the consideration for RBOB but in the end preferred the impressive fitness levels of the 2nd place Open Dog. Thankyou for bringing her and good luck, plenty more in the tank on this one

2nd 12. Cafall Pinup Girl (16.01.22) Nicholson Mrs L & Mr P

Tiger Brindle with white front approaching 4 years. Another standard bitch of pleasing proportions. Good width and depth to her head, eyes dark and correctly set, good underjaw a good length to her muzzle with clean tight lips. Enough bone and front of enough width , front angulation correct , would have preferred a little more bend of stifles, a nice clean outline in side profile with correct depth of brisket text book to the elbows , ok for rib , topline ok when stacked correctly, moved well out and back, handled ok , just preferred the front and expression on my winner.
