Chippinham and District Canine Society Premier open show Sunday 6th April 2025.

Working Group Judge Danielle Seward (Elleonia)

I would like to thank the committee for the invite to judge this fabulous show. A very well run show and I had an enjoyable day. I apologise to all the exhibitors for the late submission of my critique, I’ve been struggling with personal health issues and thank you all for your patience. I also want to thank my wonderful stewards who kept the ring running smoothly and helped with moving us outside for the group, it really helped me assess movement.

BOXER

Puppy (1:0)

1st Robinson’s LEGEND OF THOR AT ROBINSTECK 8 month old male puppy. Very Nice baby to start the day on. Lovely head good diamond eye shape and set with a good ear set and shape. Nice arch to his neck into well laid shoulders. Lovely angulation front and rear with a square shape and a correct tail set. Sound in front and rear who came alive with his movement, he ate up the ground in profile and sound on the out and back. RBOB and BP. Loved him enough to award him Puppy group 1 in tough competition, well done.

Postgraduate (2:0)

1st Pearn’s BONMAC LITTLE STAR 12 month old bitch with a pleasing head and correct diamond shape to her eye. Good length of neck that was well arched and very square in shape and had good proportions. Very well muscled for age and was very sound on the move with good bone. Just needs time to mature into herself.

2nd Jones’ PRINCESS SNOWING DANCER 17 month old bitch who was finer all through than 1. Prefered the head on 1st her nose is slightly longer. Her neck was ok for length and arch which lead into well laid shoulders. Good angulation front and rear and a nice topline. She just needs time to mature, she was a bit all over on the move making it hard to assess.

Open (3:1)

1st Robinson’s ROBINSTECK A STAR IS BORN 5.5 year old bitch who ticked all the boxes for me. Lovely head with correct eye shape and set and a lovely expression. Lovely long muscular neck that was well arched leading into well laid shoulders, deep chest and nice tuck up. Good proportions giving an overall square shape in profile. Lovely balanced front and rear angulation and correct tail set. Correct substance and very sound front and rear. She moved very well in the small ring and managed to win BOB then when we switched rings to a larger ring wow did she up a gear. Pleased to award her Group two in very tough competition, well done.

2nd Pearn’s BONMAC LITTLE BO PEEP another 5.5 year old bitch who was also a good example of the breed just unlucky to meet one today. Nice head with a good neck into well laid shoulders. Good rear angulation and tail set just a tad longer in the body to one. Moved well from all angles.

BULLMASTIFFS

Puppy (1:0)

1st Popp & Myers’ OPTIMUS JAMESON OF PENYCHEN (AI) 9 month old male who ticked all the boxes for me for a standard bullmastiff. Lovely square head shape, masculine without being course, correct length to his nose. Nice eye set and shape and good ears. Nice front and rear angulation with good substance and size for age. Would prefer a tighter foot with road work this could help as he matures. Lovely neck into well laid shoulders slightly bum high at the moment but could level off as he finishes growing. Nice movement just a little loose coming but excellent away and in profile. Awarded BOB and BP and later puppy group 3.

Postgraduate (1:0)

1st Mangat’s NEHRANI BOLLYWOOD KNIGHT 3 year old male. A tall lean boy with a very different head to the BOB winner, would prefer more of a square head but good eyes and ear set. Good neck into well laid shoulders and good front and rear angulation. Nice overall shape with a level topline, moved with reach and drive just a little loose coming on the day.

Limit (1:0)

1st Mangat’s NEHRANI PRECIOUS INDIA 3 year old female litter sister to previous class winner. A nice sized bitch with good bone and substance. Head was of good square shape but would have liked a slightly shorter nose, good eye set and shape with good ears. Good straight front and neat feet, with balance angulation front and rear. Moved soundly from all angles pleased to award her RBOB.

Open (1:0)

1st Mangat’s NEHRANI RED REEFE 3 year old male another sibling to the PG and Limit winners. Unfortunately this boy was a little unsure of his surroundings today which cost him any top honors. Top end standard size boy with good substance. Nice head with a good neck into well laid shoulders good front and rear angulation with a level topline. Nice overall shape with sound movement from all angles.

DOBERMANN

Puppy (4:1)

1st Robinson’s KORIFEY MATCHY MATCHY 7 month old black and rust female. I would prefer better head plains as they are not quite parallel at the moment however as her head develops this may well alter. Her eyes are dark and almond shaped and her ear set is correct. Lovely neck leading into well laid shoulders and a cracking straight sloping topline leading into excellent rear angulation. Her front just needs time to drop slightly and develop more chest but you can see the potential is there. Nice angle to her croup and a good tail set, standing true front and rear. This girl really came alive on her movement and is what gave her the class, super sound out and back with a great reach and drive with the correct rear rotary action. One to watch for sure happy to award her RBOB, BP and puppy group 2 in tough competition.

2nd Webb’s SHALISSA’S INTO THE SHALLOW 6 month old black and rust female. Unlucky to meet one today in such different stages of development it was nit picking between the places. Nice head with a good elongated wedge shape with a nice dark eye with correct shape and set and correct ear set. Nice neck leading into well laid shoulders and excellent front angulation. Topline was straight but slightly rising towards the rear which could well alter with age as her rear angulation and muscle develops. She was very sound on the move with great rear rotary action I just preferred the reach and drive of 1st on the day. Another with a bright future will watch with interest.

3rd Merchant’s KRIEGER’S MARK MIWORDS AT MANDAREUS.

Postgraduate (2:1)

1st Emmence’s MANZART CHINA IN YOUR HAND 13 month old black and rust female. What a little cracker she is. Lovely elongated wedge shaped head with correct eye set and shape and a lovely ear set. Excellent length to her neck into well laid shoulders and correct slightly sloping topline, just appearing a tad longer throughout the loin at the moment but as she matures this could even out. Correct croup and tail set and excellent rear angulation. She was super sound on the movement showing great reach and drive. She pushed hard for top awards however I would like to see her with a bit less weight on her to see her full potential. Another I will watch with interest.

Limit (1:0)

1st Jones’ SUPETA’S WAITING FOR AN ALIBI FROM KORIFEY 17 month old brown and rust female. WOW what can I say about this girl, from the moment she entered the ring she demanded attention. Excellent head with an elongated blunt wedge, lovely almond shaped eyes which were dark and well set. Nice fill under the eye with excellent level parallel head plains and an excellent ear set and shape. Lovely long neck leading into well laid shoulders and excellent front angulation. Lovely strong, slightly sloping topline with a short back and good angle to the croup and nice tail set. Lovely overall proportions giving a square appearance to her outline. She has excellent rear angulation balancing with her front. She was very sound on the out back and showing nice reach and drive. Certainly a top draw bitch worthy of her title will watch her progress with interest, Awarded BOB and later group one in tough competition.

Open (2:0)

1st Lafford’s LATEAGAIN WILD HEART AVEC SARIANDOBES JW ShCEx OSW 3.5 year old brown and rust female. One who I have judged before and has matured well. Her head is ultra feminine with correct eye set and shape however I would prefer a bit more underjaw. She is such a show girl free standing herself beautifully, good neck leading into good shoulders and nice front angulation. Nice length to her back and a strong topline and correct tail set. Very sound in rear movement but today she was a little loose coming towards and having a tendency to crab, she didn’t seem to be a fan of the floor which unfortunately cost her the top honours to the youngsters coming through.

2nd Merchant’s COCKNEYOKA GET OVER IT AT MANDAREUS 3 year old brown and rust male. He is a big powerful boy that is still maturing even at 3. Nice wedge shaped head, strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good angulation front and back with ample substance. This boy needs a bigger ring unfortunately he wasn’t settled in the ring today, it was difficult to assess his movement which was a shame.

BERNESE MOUNTIAN DOG

Puppy (0:0)

Postgraduate (2:1)

1st Evans’ ETTERBERN MADE IN ESSEX FOR EVANSLY 12 month old female who really caught my eye. Beautiful head with a well defined stop and a long straight muzzle and lovely dark almond shaped eyes. Nice strong neck leading into well laid shoulders and good front angulation. Nice muscle tone throughout, good body proportions and good substance. She has a deep chest, parallel front and a lovely straight topline. Excellent rear angulation, sound movement and tail set with a lovely coat giving her a clean outline which won her BOB above the open winner. Later she went on to win group four in a strong group, well done.

Open (1:0)

1st Bird’s CH CULLUMBERN MILANO JW ShCEx OSW 6.5 year old male. Very handsome head with a flat skull and a well defined stop and a long straight muzzle. Stong neck into well laid shoulders with excellent angulation front and rear. Lovely straight topline and correct tail set. He moved well around the ring and was clean on the out and back for me didn’t match the condition of the postgrad winner and the overall shape was effected by this. He was unlucky to meet the postgrad winner in the challenge who just had the edge today. Pleased to award him RBOB.

LEONBERGER

Puppy (2:0)

1st Springel’s LIONSCORT ORENDA 8 month old female who was very much a baby but with lots of potential. Sweet head with an elongated nose good eye set and nice oval shape with good ear set. Still has a lot of puppy coat which stands off the body slightly this will hopefully alter when her coat changes. Nice straight parallel front legs and good shoulders, I would prefer a better return of her upper arm however this could change as she matures. Nice overall shape with good rear angulation and substance, she was a bit bum high at this stage in development but she has time on her side. Moved soundly with good reach and drive.

2nd Sollars’ BAVARUKI BEATE’S VISION 9 month old female with a very different head to 1 with a good ear set. She has a nice neck leading into well laid shoulders and excellent front angulation. She has a good overall shape with good rear angulation. Unfortunately it was hard to assess movement and handler didn’t do her justice. Would both benefit from some more ringcraft and training to achieve her full potential.

Postgraduate (3:1

1st Sharkey’s JANTONELY ZINGALONG BALOO 2.5 year old male with a nice head would prefer a slightly longer nose, correct oval shape eye that are set well and good ear set. Strong neck into well laid shoulders and good front angulation. Topline could be stronger he is a little high on the bum but still has time to mature. Balanced rear angulation and good tail set. Loved his size and substance and moved soundly in all directions which clinched him RBOB well done.

2nd Sollars’ BAVARUKI LEJON SAMBA 4.5 year old male larger male all over than 1st, His head is on the heavier side for me with loose lips, correct eye set and shape and the correct roman nose with a good ear set. Long neck leading into ok shoulders would prefer a better lay back and more return of his upper arm giving better front angulation. Slightly better topline than 1 just lacking more of the angulation, good tail set. Again another that was hard to assess on the move due to handling ringcraft would be beneficial to both.

Open (1:0)

1st Reader’s CH LEMPILEIJONAN UNELMIEN PRINSSI (IMP FIN) JW 3 year old male that took my eye as soon as he entered the ring and he didn’t disappoint. Stunning head with a nice elongated roman nose correct skull shape and good oval shaped eye and nice ear set. Neck was ok for length into well laid shoulders and good front angulation. Correct proportions with chest to leg ratio and good length of back and the best topline of the day lovely and straight with correct rear angulation giving a balanced picture. Lovely coat giving a wonderful overall shape. Moved soundly and covered the ground with ease with reach and drive. Pleased to award him BOB and group three later on in a strong group, welldone.

GREAT DANE

Puppy (2:0)

1st White’s JUTLANDER’S EAT YOUR HEART OUT AT TARADANES 11 month old fawn bitch and what a cracker she is. Lovely head with a good eye set and shape and a good ear set. Very elegant while still having substance, lovely long neck into well laid shoulders and excellent balanced angulation fore and aft. Lovely length to her body and a level topline with a good tail set. Excellent sound footfall with a nice springy free side profile movement showing great reach and drive. She is still young and has some maturing to do but she did enough to win BOB and BP and later on winning puppy group four, well done.

2nd Bartley’s PRIMUS GAMBLER ATELIB 10 month old fawn male who was definitely out to give his handler a hard time. Very masculine head which still has time to develop but shows good potential. Excellent front angulation his shoulders are ok but he does drop after the wither. I would prefer him to have more length to his back and tail set looks low due to being higher on the bum at present. Good pasterns and feet. He moved well when he held it together would be interesting to see how he develops as he matures.

Postgraduate (2:0)

1st White’s JUTLANDER’S EAT YOUR HEART OUT AT TARADANES winner of puppy see above.

2nd Bartlett’s GOLDANIA’S QUEEN OF DESTINY coming up to 2 year old brindle female. Very nice female, lovely head, good length to her neck and well laid shoulders and excellent front angulation. Nice strong level topline and a good tail set with excellent rear angulation. She is super sound on the move showing good reach and drive. I would like to see her when she is in more of a fit condition, she was rather heavy on the day which spoilt her outline slightly and cost her BOB, pleased to award her RBOB.

Open (1:0)

1st Bartlett’s GOLDANIA’S QUEEN OF DESTINY second in postgraduate please see above.
