Mid Herts Gundog Club

Brittany

O (1): 1 BOB Poole’s Bonapartist Temptress at Laurremar, really lovely orange & white bitch of 3 years whom I have done well for before & I’m delighted to learn she now has her title. Stacks up well, nothing is overdone, well rounded ribs with an excellent topline, nice head with excellent pigment, attentive to handler, keeps her outline on the move.

Spaniel (Field)

P (1): 1 BP & RBOB Cullen’s Trevoris One More Wine, liver bitch of 9 months, lovely kind eye with gentle expression, presents a pleasing outline with good proportions & excellent strong topline, lovely shine on coat, super front assembly, moved well once she got going with proud head carriage. Happy go lucky attitude & nice little bond going on between handler & dog.

Y (1): 1 BOB Adams, Lewis, Lewis & Hird’s Sonnetend Tailor Made for Irisbel, 17 months black bitch presented to advantage, good body proportions with moderate turn of stifle, clean neck into well laid shoulders, strong topline, in lovely muscled condition, super temperament.

AV Special Beginners

(28, 10a): Wow, what a super class. Not only strong numerically but strong in quality too. I felt very happy to see so many nice dogs in one class. 1 Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies, Clumber Spaniel, a junior bitch I have done well for before. Pure pleasure watching her move & it’s what clinched her the class. Appeals standing with correct body proportions & strong topline – she flows. In super condition both in muscle & coat. Pretty head – no exaggeration, good strong bone through the forearms. Just sheer quality & when she moves it’s all there, not only is she precise – driving from strong rear pasterns, she goes about it with a joie de vivre. Not surprised to learn that she had an amazing day with other judges too – in addition to being Best Special Beginner, she won Best of Breed, the Native Vulnerable Breeds & then went Best in Show. Well done; 2 Hutton’s Piccorino Portatore D’Amore, Bracco Italiano, what a lovely masculine orange roan boy of 2 years, stood out immediately to me, excellent strong oval bone through the forearms, correct topline, super scopey mover taking advantage of the spacious ring. Thought him a quality exhibit; 3 Brothwell’s Wilanorah Ticket To The Moon at Wissant, Spaniel (Cocker).

AV GCDS

(22, 9a): 1 Wright’s Caldera Coral Dawn at Lassemista, German Longhaired Pointer, won this class & the Best HPR on her super ground covering, easy free movement. She is such a lovely quality brown & white bitch, pretty head with good depth of flew, lovely disposition, stands on compact feet, strong bone through the forearms yet not coarse, super muscled quarters, rear pasterns vertical to the ground. I really could watch her move all day. Even when she is “at rest” nothing sags, or turns wayward – very well balanced & she has a lovely temperament. No hesitation in awarding her this quality class; 2 Middleton-Collins’ Berrymeade Dream On With Jasperleigh JW, Golden Retriever, super quality boy of 15 months, so full of himself he is hard to ignore. Good bone through the forearms, stands on tight feet, brisket down to elbow, taut loin, well-muscled quarters, moves well & goes about it with confidence, very well handled; 3 Strevens’ Tollisty Shincha JW, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

AV HUNT, POINT, RETRIEVE

P (4, 1a): 1 BP Dobbs’ Theondale Hopeful Heart, Weimaraner, stood out in the class, very mature for 7 months, stands up well & conducts himself well on the move with the attitude of a much older dog. He is nice to go over, stands on well knuckled tight feet, strong bone through the forearms, he is clean over the back with well angulated quarters. His forechest is a little too heavy & his neck into shoulders could be a better transition but otherwise he is quality exhibit; 2 Sladden’s Canemamans Final Blow, Bracco Italiano, what a little cutie patootie, only 6 months but has everything there & you can really see her potential on the move where she has super extension. Pretty head, brisket down to elbow, correct topline, excellent rear angulation, a lovely promising puppy; 3 Lord & Broomfield’s Chilternway Coriandrum, Weimaraner.

J (1): 1 C Coriandrum, 8 months old puppy, very clean & tightly made, brisket down to elbow, she is a nice size & has good bone, clean neck, good spring of rib. She moves co-ordinately but I would like to see more power in her rear pushing her forward.

PG (2) 1 Hutton’s Piccorino Portatore D’Amore, Bracco Italiano; 2 Parkin’s Doberway Queen Of Hearts, GWP, looks good stacked, balanced with strong topline & good bend of stifle. Stands on good feet with strong bone. She could be tighter in elbow & stronger through the rear pasterns on the move.

O (4): What a super class of excellent HPRs. 1 Best AV HPR Wright’s Caldera Coral Dawn at Lassemista, German Longhaired Pointer; 2 Foreman’s Toberworry Little Lies, Large Munsterlander, in really super muscled condition & a great mover driving off from strong rear pasterns. Brisket down to elbow, excellent topline, correct rear angulation, rear pasterns vertical to the ground. A little more length of neck would complete the picture; 3 Edlin’s Graygees Tsarine, GSP.
