Breed: Open Show

I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to judge at this lovely show – my first time judging in this part of the world!

Irish Setter

P (1): 1 BP, BOB & PG4 Wheeldon’s Quensha Fine And Dandy at Colemist, nice puppy to start my day’s judging. Nearly 12 months male who is still learning the ropes & is quite a challenge for his handler – nonetheless you can still see his qualities. Open nostrils, prominent occiput, stacks up well with a slight slope from withers. Well angulated rear quarters, good bone to him. Moved co-ordinately. Deserved his BOB & PG4.

O (1): 1 Wheeldon’s Colemist The Name Of The Game, veteran male of 8 years, appears balanced with corresponding angles, clean neck, moved ok. Preferred the topline & tighter feet of BOB.

Spaniel (American Cocker)

P (2):1 BP & PG2 Morris’ Mycalleys Itsallaboutmeme, lovely sprightly 6 months buff bitch & a complete show girl. Struts around like she owns the place so definitely lives up to her name! Lovely to go over, good ribbing, excellent bend of stifle. Preferred the flow of her neck into shoulder over 2 Sunter & Pinchen’s Kenoula No Regrets, black & tan bitch of 9 months. Appealing head, tidy feet, strong topline, moved well in profile.

PG (1): 1 Morris’ Mycalleys Sirocco JW, black & tan dog of nearly 2 years, well off for bone, presents a pleasing picture in outline – balanced with clean topline, in good coat. Moves well when settled - tendency to gallop but settles into a good stride.

O (1): 1 BOB & G1 Morris & Jefferson’s Mycalleys Koko JW, black bitch of nearly 2 years – litter sister to Sirocco. Stacks up beautifully, has a lovely quality, super disposition – friendly, pretty head, open nostrils, clean over the topline, good angulation. Really free mover. Tail settles on the move. Very well presented & in lovely condition. Couldn’t be denied the Group – she stood away.

Spaniel (Cocker)

P (1): BP Palmer’s Sandanca Lionheart to Colmeir, black, white & tan of nearly 12 months, large stamp of a male, tight feet, gentle expression, well sprung ribs, good bend of stifle. Carrying a few extra puppy pounds over the shoulder today.

J (2): Very alike but 1 scored on movement. 1 Proudler’s Kimapa Kwackers Kalon, liver roan dog of 16 months, came together on the move, well boned through the forearms, good ribbing, correct bend of stifle. A little polish in coat presentation would benefit; 2 Cox’s Kimapa Kwackers Kor, liver roan dog of 16 months, litter brother to 1. Lovely disposition, good feet & bone. A little uncooperative for his handler today which meant he didn’t show at his best.

PG (3, 1a): 1 K Kwackers Kalon; 2 Cox’s Kimapa Kune Kinch, blue roan bitch of 3 years, compact in appearance, feminine, good bone. Just a tad heavy over the shoulders today. Preferred the movement of 1.

O (6): 1 BOB Peterson’s Claramand Blu Delight for Dromacre, lovely quality blue roan bitch of 4 years, stacks up lovely & looks balanced & compact. Tight feet, good ribbing, moved well with a lovely merry action. In good body & coat condition. Well handled; 2 Bacon’s Timbric Doris Day JW, blue roan bitch of 2 years, moves with a free ground covering stride but doesn’t stack up as well as 1. Pretty head, good ribbing, correct rear angles; 3 Wilson’s Kenwad Wilbur Force at Mabelhope.

Spaniel (Clumber)

O (1): 1 BOB & G3 Nesbitt’s Creeaark Austin Healey from Chabrouille, what a lovely boy – just full of personality - honestly made me smile just to watch him. Super eyes, no exaggeration to them. Very strong & athletic to go over, brisket down to elbow, strong over the topline. On the move he went off with real power & drive – It was easy for him. A real charmer of a dog. Delighted to award him G3.

Retriever (Labrador)

O (3, 2a): 1 BOB Lawrence’s Dunnabbey Step Outside, veteran yellow male of 7 years, stacks up well, smooth outline, tight feet, brisket down to elbow, moderate rear anglulation. Would like more power in his rear action.

English Setter

PG & O (1): 1 BOB Taylor’s Kanietter Kocoa, blue belton & tan male of 4 years, masculine boy, handsome head, kind eye, well arched feet, level topline, good ribbing. Very well handled. Slightly long in rear pasterns which affected his rear movement.

Retriever (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling)

PG (1): 1 Wardrope’s Danehaven Nouvel, bitch of 3 years, stands on well arched toes facing forward, friendly expression, good neck into shoulder transition, brisket down to elbow, well bent stifles, moved ok.

O (2): Both different in type, especially in size & bone. 1 BOB Roffey’s Camusmor Ca Canny with Acanuck, nice to go over, strong through the forearms, brisket down to elbow, well sprung ribs, good turn of stifle & well muscled quarters. Very attentive to handler. Well presented in body condition & coat; 2 Wardrope’s Gold Star Struttin’ Her Daisy Dukes (Imp), bitch coming up 3 years, anatomically well made - balanced throughout, pretty head with a friendly expression, level topline, coat in good order.

Italian Spinone

PG (1): 1 BOB Whittingham, Wright & Bexon’s Rubino Spinone Del Mucrone with Riccini (Imp), strong masculine w/o boy with a lot of presence, strong oval bone, kind eye, spongy nose with open nostrils, brisket down to elbow, good rear angulation, lovely mover in profile but would prefer more strength through the rear pasterns.

Spaniel (English Springer)

P (1): 1 BP Calvert’s Chanangel Yorkshire Honey, l/w bitch of 6 months, stacks up well, good feet, leans forward a tad but she is learning the ropes & tends to challenge her handler on the stack. Brisket down to elbow. Little unsure on the move at this stage but she showed straight movement.

O (2, 1a): BOB Calvert’s Calvdale With Respect JW, l/w male of nearly 2 years. Nice to go over, very smart in appearance & cuts a dash, lovely presence about him, lovely texture to coat – certainly not coarse, well-muscled quarters.

Retriever (Golden)

P (1): 1 BP Foster’s Auristela Ginger Rogers, lovely stacked up, pretty head, good ribbing, & rear angulation with a level topline. She needs a little more return of upperarm.

J (5,2a): 1 Price’s Jomiagan Storm Warning, nearly 14 months boy, clear winner, stacks & moves well, nice size, lovely kind eye, good bone & angulation, strong rear pasterns vertical to the ground. In good body & coat condition. Tail can fly but at that age; 2 Phillips’ Kenleap Amazing Apple, cream bitch of 14 months, pretty head, level topline, good angulation. Handler needs to get her into a stride on the move; 3 Carney’s Astleyfold Snowy Barney of Fionafield.

PG (7, 1a): 1 BOB Johnson’s Moloko Ow Do, very together bitch, stacks well & is handled to advantage by her skilled handler. Brisket down to elbow, level topline, good rear angulation, strong rear pasterns vertical to the ground. Looks like she can be quite a handful at times but handler steers her well; 2 Allan’s Hoaaloha Simba, strong looking cream dog of 19 months, stands looking smart in outline, tight feet, good rear angles, strength through the rear quarters; 3 Towers & Henderson’s Baricia Bella Divino JW.

L (3): 1 Maddison’s Jaymardy Sweet Caroline JW, bitch rising 3 years, good body proportions, pretty head, stands on compact feet, clean neck into well laid shoulders, level topline; 2 Ritson’s Baricia Bella Dolce, cream dog rising 2, strong boned, showy presence, stands on tight feet, well laid shoulders, slightly long in loin; 3 Bell’s Hoaaloha Kealoha JW.

O (3): 1 Bell’s Hoaaloha Maui JW SGWC, veteran male, lovely & moderate, nothing overdone, strength in the jaw, level topline, muscled through the loin & rear quarters, moved ok; 2 Wright’s Palton Pavarotti, well made, strong bone, level topline, good rear angulation, moved well. Quite heavy over the shoulders today.

AVNSC Gundog

O (3, 1a): 1 Best AVNSC Gundog Wood’s Pabiaga’s Sergio Sinduda JW, white & brown Spanish Water Dog of 2 years, best mover in the class with strength through the rear pasterns. Also has a lovely front assembly with snug elbows to the chest wall, slightly longer than tall in proportions as per standard, woolly coat texture. Well made boy; 2 Wood’s Chanderhill Eagle Eye Sinduda, same owner, Spanish Water Dog, slightly taller than his kennel mate, not as well made through the front or rear. However, in outline he looks well balanced with a good topline.

Group 1 American Cocker: Morris & Jefferson’s Mycalleys Koko JW.

Group 2 Bracco Italiano: Atherton’s Braccorion’s You Win Again from Brevathos.

Group 3 Clumber Spaniel: Nesbitt’s Creeaark Austin Healey from Chabrouille.

Group 4 Golden Retriever: Johnson’s Moloko Ow Do.

Puppy Group 1 Hungarian Vizsla: Murray & Parker’s Szelkiraly’s Foolproof, coming up 12 months, very smart standing & moving, brisket down to elbow, stands on tight feet, streamlined over the neck, shoulders & topline - no humps or bumps. In good muscled condition. He went well in BPIS.

Puppy Group 2 American Cocker: Morris’ Mycalleys Itsallaboutmeme.

Puppy Group 3 Bracco Italiano: Atherton’s Callaiscroft Fait Accompli.

AV Gundog

P (9, 6a): 1 Morris’ American Cocker, Mycalleys Itsallaboutmeme; 2 Atherton’s Bracco Italiano, Callaiscroft Fait Accompli, very raw at present but has the general frame which he needs to fill & will do in time. Strong oval bone, correct topline, scopey side mover. In good muscled condition, 3 Palmer’s Cocker Spaniel, Sandanca Lionheart to Colmeir.

J (7, 5a): 1 Proudler’s Cocker Spaniel, Kimapa Kwackers Kwtch, liver roan bitch of 16 months, pretty head, good ribbing, correct turn of stifle, moved well; 2 Proudler’s Cocker Spaniel, Kimapa Kwackers Kalon.

O (7,4a): 1 Atherton’s Bracco Italiano, Braccorion’s You Win Again from Brevathos, lovely feminine o/w bitch, very eye catching, lovely to go over, good oval bone, correct topline, good bend of stifle & scopey elastic gait. Her phantom frilly belly didn’t detract from her overall conformation & movement; 2 Proudler’s Cocker Spaniel, Kimapa Kwackers Kwtch; 3 Cox’s Cocker Spaniel, Kimapa Kune Kinch.

V (5, 1a): 1 Wright’s Golden Retriever, Palton Pavarotti; 2 Lawrence’s Labrador Retriever, Dunnabbey Step Outside; 3 Proudler’s Cocker Spaniel, Kimapa Kickit Kiantu.
