North Staffs Canine Society

Breed: Lancashire Heeler

I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the North Staffs Canine Society committee for giving me the honour of my first Lancashire Heeler judging appointment. A big thank you also goes to my diligent stewards for keeping everything running smoothly, and to all the exhibitors for their wonderful entries—I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to assess these delightful dogs.

1st: Bradford’s Droversrock Pyrite, a charming 16-month-old black and tan bitch. She captured my attention immediately with her keen, alert expression and excellent breed characteristics. Her bright almond-shaped eyes and erect ears gave her a lively and intelligent air. I was particularly impressed by her strong structure and level topline, which she maintained beautifully while moving, once she settled. Her brisk and purposeful gait was a joy to watch, and I was delighted to award her Best of Breed.

Post Graduate 2 entered, 0 absent

1st: Lagonegro’s Lankeela Kristi And Eeyore, a striking 3-year-old liver and tan male. His masculine head, well-balanced proportions, and purposeful movement stood out. I admired his firmly muscled build, well-laid shoulders, and confident tail carriage, which he carried high and proud on the move. He exuded presence, and I felt he truly deserved his placing.

2nd: Bradford’s Simonsville Ediva, another impressive - 3 year-old, black and tan bitch. She demonstrated a lovely structure, with good bone and a brisk gait. She just didn’t quite match the presence and overall impact of 1st today.

Open 1 entered, 0 absent

1st: Hughes’ Poolheywood Barney JW, a 2-year-old black and tan male who showed himself beautifully in the ring. Masculine head and keen expression, strong, level topline and excellent tail carriage. His smart gait and purposeful movement added to his appeal. I was pleased to award him Reserve Best of Breed.

I thoroughly enjoyed judging these wonderful dogs and appreciate the warm welcome and hospitality extended to me throughout the day. Thank you all for making this an unforgettable experience!
