Scottish Collie Club

Scottish Rough Collie Club- Special Award Classes

21/09/2025

Many thanks to the society for asking me along to judge the special award classes. Rough Collies are a breed I have always liked, and I always enjoy the chance to get my hands on these wonderful pastoral dogs. Exhibits overall very well presented although dirty teeth the theme of the day! Special thanks to my stewards for their help.

A. Junior Dog/Bitch (2,1)

1st) Steven’s Cambrogan’s Blissful Barra- 18month old tricolour of good shape, alert, feminine expression with almond dark brown eyes. Well set ears set atop a balanced head. Happy with her tail today which at times spoiled her outline. Would like to see more drive on the move.

B. Post Graduate Dog/Bitch (5,0)

1st) Welsh’s Thistlewing Magic Lady- 5yr old sable of pleasing size and shape, classic head, good spring of ribs, excellent forechest. Moved gracefully with drive and purpose.

2nd) Taylor’s Thistlewing Fire Dancer at Bryany- 4yr old sable of pleasing shape, typical head with nice dark almond eye, lovely rise over loin, Movement not as fluid as 1, I would prefer shorter hocks.

C. Open Dog/Bitch (9,3)

1st) Proctor’s Wilmaranna Out of The Blue for Cathbri- 8yr old blue merle who contradicts his age, lovely balanced head, strong neck leading to well-placed shoulders, superb outline and moved with ease.

2nd)Melvin & Jopsonn’s Lillyway Lemon Sparkle at Nithview- a feminine bitch who presents with a lovely outline and kind expression. Feminine balanced head, presented in excellent condition, just didn’t move as well as 1 on the day.

Thanks,

Craig Sloan (Inverstag)
