Bracco Italiano Club
Many thanks to the committee for the invite to judge for the Bracco Italiano Club Open Show 2025. A breed I love, I remember seeing them when they first appeared on the import register, they are in a league of their own for movement.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day. My overall winners I was very pleased with but within the breed a few points of concern would be lack of oval tight feet, on occasion finding a super specimen but with worse club feet I’ve ever seen, if they haven’t got correct feet, they wouldn’t be able to do their job. Another worrying item in the younger dogs was bent forelimbs - the standard calls for ‘Forelegs strong and straight with good, oval bone’- I found more than one dog with bowed front legs - I found this a major worry. Lack of width between front legs also needs watching with dogs also lacking return of upper arm. Some dogs needing to be moved faster to show the true movement of a bracco ‘Capable of untiring, extended fast trot’.
