Lancashire Heeler Association

Vulnerable Native Breeds Show

(Hosted by The Lancashire Heeler Association)

Sunday, 24th August, 2025

My thanks to Jacky Cutler and The Lancashire Heeler Association for inviting me to judge at this show, to my two efficient stewards and to the exhibitors for entering. Promoting our Vulnerable Native Breeds is something that I feel strongly about and it was a pleasure to judge at this well run show. All exhibits present had qualities which appeal to me, which is always good to see.

Welsh Corgi [Cardigan]

Puppy (2, 1 Abs)

1st: TWINAN TRUE GRIT – Miss T J Irving. 11 mth Brindle D. A little unsettled on the table today, good head of correct proportions, with good sized ears used well, good dark eye and correct scissor bite. Good muscletone throughout for a youngster, well laid shoulders and good breadth of chest. Good level topline, which was held well on free movement. Has some maturing to do.

Special Yearling (3, 2 Abs)

1st: TWINAN TRULY OUTRAGEOUS – Miss T J Irving. 11 mth Brindle B, littermate to 1st puppy, some similar points apply, but of a more suitably feminine frame. Lovely, foxy head, in good proportion, again with good sized ear, and correct eye and bite. Well ribbed for the age, and shoulders laid well. Chest was broad, and good prominence of breastbone, forelegs wrapped around the chest well, standing and nicely tight, round feet. If I were to be picky, I would like to see a little more drive, which would hold the topline better, but again she has some maturing yet to do, which I am sure will bring that free and active movement. BPIB, and later RBPIS

Post Graduate (1, 1 Abs)

Limit (1, 1 Abs)

Open Dog (1, 0 Abs)

1st: CH TAMLIN MILLENIUM FALCON – Mrs T E & Miss B J Taylor. 3 yr old Brindle D. Strong and masculine all through. Typical foxy head of correct proportion, holding excellent eye, giving that typical Cardi expression. Ears of a good size, held well and good strong bite. Neck well developed and strong, leading onto well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket, well ribbed, and correct prominence of breastbone. Correct angulation, fore and aft, great muscletone all through, giving free and easy drive, holding topline well on the move. BOB

Open Bitch (5, 2 Abs) All 3 in this class had plenty to like about them.

1st: TWINAN SHIELD OF STEEL (ai) JW – Miss T J Irving. 2 yr old Brindle B. This young lady has matured well since the last time I judged her. Good head, with correct proportion, eyes dark, and ears well set with correct mouth. Good muscletone throughout, well laid shoulders and good depth of brisket. Nicely tight and round feet, with forequarters showing correct mould round the chest. Topline held well on free and active movement, pushed hard in the challenge. RBOB

2nd: CHRIS TEAM BAKALIA FOR TAMLIN (IMP POL) JW – Mrs T E & Miss B J Taylor. 2 yr old Brindle B. Of a slightly smaller frame than 1st, but still well in proportion. Typical foxy head, with correct eye and ear. Neck well developed, and correct lay of shoulder. Well ribbed, and with a good breadth of chest and prominent breastbone. Correct level topline, which held well on the move.

3rd: CH ANCKSUNAMUN HALLOWS EVE JW – Ms P Fitzpatrick-Graham.

Veteran (2, 2 Abs)
