Southern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club Open Show.   28th Sept, 2025.

Many thanks to the officers & committee for the opportunity to judge this breed that’s very dear to me, & for looking after my wife & I with your kindness & hospitality.

Every single exhibit was turned out in immaculate coat & condition with every single one a joy to meet & go over, same applies to all you lovely exhibitors too.

Dogs.

Baby Puppy. – (3)1a

1st – Surman’s – Charnell Go Your Own Way To Vallender.

Young Blenheim with a charming boyish expression & sweet nature, evenly marked, ample amount of bone on legs & feet, coat coming on nicely for age, handled the ring well & moved with an even, determined stride.

Best Baby Puppy Dog.

2nd – Machan’s – Cridensa Crispin.

Young 5mth ruby with endearing sweet expression & darkest of eyes & nose, of good development all round, coat growing well with good feathering showing, first time in the ring for both dog & handler, both used the ring well & kept a steady controlled pace & with animation.

Minor Puppy. – (1)0a

1st – Lock’s – Bowfort Sea The Fire.

Endearing youngster with a friendly happy disposition, at a nice stage of development showing a balanced outline for one so young, face & head filling out well with ears of good length, lovely tricolour markings which gives him real appeal, moved well for age using a fair length of stride, lots to like about him, shows true breed quality.

Junior. – (3)1a

1st – Stoilkova-Stoyanova’s – Mecho From Pirin.

Strong masculine lad well grown for age with ample bone & substance, shows sound construction & true conformation throughout, masculine head & face giving him an air of noblese, elbows tight in to shoulders, good spring of rib & tuck up of loin, shows a lovely balanced outline standing & moving, carrying his tail in true Cavalier fashion, moved foot-perfect using strength & forward reach to stride out well across the ring, handler guided him & let him take the initiative, presented in immaculate full clean rich black & tan coat, everything perfect about this boy today & well deserved his awards.

Best Dog & Best in Show.

2nd – Floyd’s – Laurami High Hopes Barney.

Lively & well-animated young man who was difficult to assess as he was having great fun today, head more finer than 1st place with face showing well filled muzzle, defined stop & clear round eyes of correct colour, fully made up nose with wide open nostrils, height & length of body in good proportion, good bend of stifle, feet facing forwards at all times, shown in lovely clean Blenheim coat & handled with sympathy.

1st – Mynott’s – Honeybet Hamilton. JW.

Blenheim boy of nice age & maturity, defined head not over nor underdone, even attractive facial markings with a good lozenge on the skull, ears well placed with leathers of fair length framing his face beautifully, correct make & shape all round showing a nice breed outline in profile, lovely clean pure white markings on rich orange background which showed out well, moved with a superb controlled striding action & presented in top condition.

1st – Stanton’s – Cassandy Say Something Nice.

Another Blenheim lad with a proper male head & expression showing even markings & lozenge, ears perfectly placed & of good length, well developed for age with sound construction & conformation all round, ample width & depth of chest, legs evenly spaced apart front & rear, well-muscled with defined second thigh, moved with a very true sound balanced action which proves his fitness, when standing presented a strong topline & true breed outline with tail coming off his back correctly & used well, shown immaculately & handled well.

1st – Cragg’s – Ryamil Rococo Harana.

One of good development & maturity, alert & attentive at all times, evenly balanced head & face showing rich striking tri markings with ear leathers of good length & hanging nicely, good reach of neck going in to well-placed shoulders & defined withers, all round substance & muscle development one expects from a mature male, very nice to go over, moved soundly & surefootedly, carrying his tail correctly at all times.

2nd –  Mynott’s – Honeybet Tri Again.

Close class this & again, a lovely mature masculine male of quality & sound construction, strong head & appealing features with well accentuated tri markings, similar to 1st placing in qualities & conformation, steadier on the move though, stands up well on his toes showing a strong topline, uses a good spring on his pasterns & reaches out well from the shoulders when moving, presented in full clean natural coat, well furnished & handled expertly.

3rd – Lock & Thomas’s – Bowfort Bo Jo.

1st – Kemp’s – Capriconia Donatello.

 Lovely striking black & tan of 7yrs young, full clean dentition & correct bite, good strength of bone & fit with hard muscletone all over still, nice masculine head & features, supports a strong level topline & well held outline, one still in his full prime & is young for his years, movement was very swift sound & precise, shown in rich coloured black & tan coat & was enjoying his day out. Best Vet Dog & Best Vet In Show.

2nd – Godwin’s – Cavaliegh Ice Man. Jw.

At nigh 12yrs this handsome Blenheim boy was still giving his ‘all’ in the ring, full of enthusiasm, happy tail wagging never stopped in true Cavalier style, not an ounce of fat nor loss of body condition but strong fit & muscled, sign of a good healthy life, shown in very full mature coat & handled with ease, he could still make short work covering the ground, thank you for allowing me the pleasure of seeing him.

With this class, each one could have had 1st place & I have no doubt they will be changing places as they progress through their show careers.

Young, dainty, feminine Blenheim girl showing nice qualities at an early stage, lovely evenly marked face & head showing a clear defined lozenge, well-feathered ears, overall height & length in good context with tail flowing correctly off the back, good bend of stifle, moved with enthusiasm & determination.

Best Baby Puppy Bitch.

2nd – Connor’s – Gadeslain Amara.

Another cute Blenheim baby with a lovely expressive inquisitive face & displayed a bright clear orange/white colouring, shows a balanced outline with nicely arched neck, tight feet facing forwards well, good angulation of rear quarters & standing well up on her hocks, took off around the ring with a swift even gait & moved with confidence.

3rd – Yeates’s – Vonnyisle Vera Lyn With Merryanna.

1st – Thomas’s – Tamyse Georgette At Pepyswood.

 

Just over 6mths, with alert expressive eyes & pretty feminine face with well accentuated tricolour markings, of good development for age with coat still coming on, mature in attitude for a youngster & stood & showed well, moved sound & true just getting on with it, handler obviously has got an early start in training, one to watch out for in the future perhaps?

1st – Aldous & Smith’s – Aranel Edie.

Impressive young Blenheim girl that shows good ring presence & quality features at this early stage, full feminine face & head not exaggerated in any way with ears & leathers of ‘typical’ cavalier length, proper Blenheim markings all over, body of good substance & construction which presents a classic outline & stature for one so young, when moving she showed off a sound balanced forward reaching action with experienced handler keeping a good distance apart & showing her attributes to best advantage, presented in tip top condition.

1st – Konoike’s – Ainrose Cherry Apple.

Ruby girl of just over 12mths that stands & show naturally, has real ring presence with her enthusiasm & liveliness, well developed for age showing nice amount of substance & breed qualities, nothing untoward or out of place with her, conforms to the standard well, moved with good speed & an even gait driving on from the rear, shown in immaculate fully feathered rich ruby coat & handled well, could certainly take her home.

2nd – Sharman’s – Leogem Milana.

Appealing girl with kind expression & lovely sweet nature, dark round kind eyes of correct colour, strong feminine head with ears placed well & leathers of nice length, deep chest , good spring of rib & tuck up of loin, elbows tight in to shoulders, muscled & well developed with correct amount of substance for age, moved with a balanced & easy free action from behind, turned out in full profuse clean Blenheim coat of lovely colour.

3rd – Knox’s – Sweet Little Molly Malone.

1st – Surman’s – Harana C’Est Si Bon.

Cracking female of beautiful rich ruby colour with correct eye colouring, full black nose with wide open nostrils, of superb quality throughout, full development & construction of body conforming perfectly to the standard, strong neck of correct length going on to a strong level back with her tail flowing off & nicely carried at all times, right amount of bone & muscle in proportion to body size, very hard to fault any part of her, holds her topline & classy true breed outline naturally, very sound & balanced when moving using an even steady controlled gait that comes from a good spring of the pasterns, presented & handled faultlessly she was in no doubt deserving of her awards today.

2nd – Workman’s – Toraylac Georgianna Of Costara.

Well-developed lady of good maturity & attitude, striking black & tan colouring evenly marked in all the correct places, feminine face with soft expression & kind eyes of correct colour, nigh on flat skull & slight stop gives a true breed impression, length of her neck & back in context to her height from the ground to the withers shows all is of balanced proportions, tight well feathered feet facing forwards & evenly spaced rear legs standing well up on her toes giving her a good outline in profile, moved with good animation & even tracking & presented in superb full coat & condition.

1st – Atkin’s – Lacerta Luisa.

Class of all Blenheims correctly marked that all could have taken the 1st placing, this endearing lady with lovely white masking around her muzzle & even orange colour around the eyes, on the sides of her head & ears gave a nice balanced look when viewed front on, leathers of good length fully feathered framing her face beautifully, body shows predominately rich orange with correct white patches not overdone, as they should be, conformation & construction all round is all in context with nothing extreme or distracting to the eye, a sound honest girl who moved gracefully with an evenly balanced gait.

2nd – Connor’s – Gadeslain Eliane.

Very similar to 1st & of around similar age, attractive feminine face, again evenly marked & supports a balanced look, has more white on the neck & shoulders which actually highlights a super length & arch of her neck beautifully, ‘very breed specific’, lovely good orange colouring on her back & rear quarters highlights a strong level topline superbly giving a classic outline, quality stood out in this class & placings were difficult to sort out, she moved also with grace balance & determination.

3rd – Case’s – Tamyse Kiss Me Kate For Ginajay.

1st – Stanton’s – Verheyen Isabelle At Cassandy.

One of nice maturity & sound construction, I like to see good substance at this age but still maintaining the feminine traits & daintiness that she possesses, very alert & animated with dark expressive eyes, well filled out head evenly marked in true Blenheim fashion. Legs placed well under body with neat well feathered feet facing forwards, good shoulder placement giving a nice extension to her forward reach, elbows tight in to body, ribs well back & short loin, muscled rear quarters with defined second thigh & evenly spaced between legs giving her the powerful driving action when moving, cleanly presented & handled with quiet sympathy.

2nd – Kemp’s – Dinitro’s Princess Rio Of Capriconia.

Sweet natured girl with a happy disposition & attractive face which supports an endearing ‘beauty spot’ on the side of her cheek, correct dentition, lips clean & fitting tight to the mouth, darkest of eyes & nose with good open nostrils, balanced head & body of nice height to length ratio, good bend of stifle & stands well up on her pasterns, moved with a fair turn of speed & drive, shown in lovely full furnished coat.

3rd – Armitage-Walker’s – Wirewood Elsie.

1st – Floyd’s – Laurami Comfortably Numb.

Fully mature well grown lady with happy appealing face, head & skull of correct proportion & dimensions supporting a true lozenge shape, bright clear round eyes of correct colour well-spaced apart, tight compact body showing clean lines & angulation, defined rear muscle on second thigh, used a true sound positive action when moving, presented in full correctly marked clean Blenheim coat & handled expertly.

2nd – Surman’s – Harana Joan Jet.

Strong female head with face showing striking black & tan features that appeals to the eye, good length of neck in context to height & length of body, ample width of chest between front legs giving plenty of heart & lung room, good spring of ribs set well back with tuck up of loin, moved with plenty of enthusiasm & freedom tracking evenly fore & aft, shown in beautiful fully mature natural black & tan coat completed the picture.
