I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Committee of the Bridgend & District Kennel Association for the invitation to judge at their Premier Show. From the warmest of welcomes by the Chairperson at the door and again at the secretary’s table, you knew you were in good hands and that this show was run well. I want to thank the exhibitors for allowing me the privilege of being able to go over their dogs, I was extremely pleased to get my hands on some top-quality dogs. All dogs put forward for BIS were outstanding for breed type and performed well. I was very pleased to see the Working Veteran go on to Reserve Best Veteran in Show. Lastly, but not least, I must thank Sonali and Richard, my stewards for the day, for keeping the ring running smoothly.

Bullmastiff Junior (1,0) 1. Warren’s, Copperfield Jonas Mudge JW. Quality 13mth red male. Masculine head of correct proportions with good ear placement, defined stop and well filled cheeks. Strong well arched neck. Excellent width of fore chest with straight forelegs. Firm topline and good tail set. Ample rear angulation allowing for good rear thrust. I will watch his progress as he matures as I’m sure he will finish well. RBOB

Bullmastiff PG (1,0) 1. Warren’s, Allwatcha Copperfield Tiffs Diamond. 2 yr old red bitch. Good breadth of skull, short muzzle with expressive eyes of good colour. Lovely outline with muscular arched neck, firm topline and correct tail set. Good angulation front and rear allowing for good movement.

Bullmastiff Open (2,0) 1. Warren’s, Ch.Yakee Blue Topaz of Copperfield. Quality feminine, brindle bitch. Head of good size with short muzzle and broad under-jaw, correct eye shape and colour and correct ear placement giving the desired square appearance. lovely profile and muscular arched neck of good length, correct slope of shoulder into chest with good width and depth, excellent straight front. Short back and firm topline Moved with drive BOB & Grp 4 2. Warren’s, Yakee Tantalum of Copperfield. 3yr old red male. Large skull of good breadth, short muzzle, good ear placement, strong neck of ample length. Balanced outline, moved well.

St. Bernard Open (2,1) 1. Phillips, Surleval Draig Sisu. 2yr old bitch, stood alone but has excellent breed type. Beautiful head piece, broad skull with defined stop as required. Good width and depth of muzzle. Neck muscular and long. Excellent broad deep chest with well sprung ribs. Super angulation front and rear allowed her to move with an easy extension with drive from the rear. BOB

Newfoundland Open (1,0) 1. Plant’s, Barracechi Romani Charm for Shadann (A.I.) 5yr old well balanced black bitch with excellent bone. Head of good proportions and well set, dark eyes. Chest deep and broad. Solid, level topline with tail well set on and carried slightly raised on move. Moved with correct gait.

Russian Black Terrier PG (1,0) 1. Williams, Evrussky Black Widow (A.I) 2yr old bitch of outstanding breed type just oozing quality. Feminine, well-proportioned attractive head, flat skull with parallel plains and excellent high set ears. Neck of ample length and well set. Shoulders well laid back. Straightest of fronts with back firm and muscular. Tail set on high and carried well on move. Shown in hard condition and she is so well balanced, moving with super reach and drive, producing great ground covering. She was able to show her full drive in the larger Best in Show ring. BOB & Grp 1

Russian Black Terrier Open (1,1)

Boxer PG (3,2) 1. Evans, Rocvilla Secret Hardd 3yr old bitch. Feminine head with dark eyes and broad muzzle. Neck of ample length and well arched. Well balanced in outline and good width to chest and depth of brisket. Well-muscled. Back straight and with slight slope to correct well angulated rear quarters. Nice tight feet but tends to toe in. Moved Ok. RBOB

Boxer Open (2,1) 1. Evans, Chaos Theory at Rocvilla 4yr old bitch, lovely head proportions with dark deep-set eyes and correct ear placement. Strong clean neck of ample length. Square in profile with slight slope to topline, would have preferred more rear angulation but her overall balance and maturity won her BOB.

Dobermann PG (2,0) 1. Bodfield’s, Grafmax Aladdin Sane 17mth male shown in lovely condition. Pleasing head with dark eyes. Good length of neck. Square in outline with good topline and tail set and good front and rear angulation. Standing on well arched feet. Moved well. 2. Moore’s, Elmorell Ready for It. 8mth puppy bitch. Lovely feminine head and expression. Good length of neck and firm topline. As would be expected at this age she needs to drop in chest. Shown in lovely condition and moved well. WPG4

Dobermann Open (3,1) 1. Webb & Mullins, Protocol’s The Midas Touch (Imp USA) JW. Striking 2yr old presenting a balanced and clean outline. Quality head and expression with dark almond eyes. Neck of good length, strong and carried well. Excellent straight front, deep brisket. Firm topline with slight slope. Good front and rear angulation, standing on excellent feet. Moved with excellent reach and drive. BOB & Grp2 2. Reid’s Dobshangrila Xavi (Imp IKC). Masculine balanced head with dark eyes. Strong clean neck. Shoulders well placed with lovely deep chest. Good substance and bone. Excellent rear angulation which he put to good use on the move. Unlucky to meet 1 RBOB

Tibetan Mastiff Open (1,0) 1. Hollifield & Humphreys, Ch Richearon Palden. 9yr old Black/tan male. Powerfully built and with an impressive head, giving the desired noble look. Shown in hard condition and such a pleasure to go over. Muscular straight front, excellent bone standing on compact feet. Good depth of brisket and correct oval, well sprung ribs. Impressive dense, long coat with correct undercoat. Tail carried well. For his size he moved freely and was even more impressive when he was in the veteran group and given a larger ring which allowed him to move out. BOB, WVG1, RBVIS

Bernese Mountain Dog PG (1,1)

Bernese Mountain Dog Open (1,0) 1. Jones, Collansues Abracadabra 4yr old male, strongly built and of good proportion. Head with correct stop and dark almond eyes. Good length of neck. Well filled straight front with good depth of brisket. Correct bushy tail, carried well. Carrying too much weight which affected his movement.

Siberian Husky PG (2,0) 1. Stimpson, Cwnhapus Takhini with Adellarz , 6 yr old male Head proportions good, but would prefer less stop. Correct obliquely set eyes and medium well placed ears. Firm level topline and correct tail set. Moved OK. 2. Stimpson, Arcticskies Forest Fairy at Adellarz 6mth old well balanced black /silver bitch will a lovely foxy expression. Nicely put together with moderate angulation fore and aft. Level topline and carried tail well. Narrow in front but should improve as she matures. Moved very well. WPG3

Siberian Husky Open (1,0) 1. Stimpson, Cwnhapus King in the North for Adellarz . 3yr old male of nice make and shape. Lovely head and expression with correct almond shaped eyes. Ears of good shape and placement. Arched neck of moderate length. Level topline with correct tail set. Deep chest with well sprung ribs. Lovely rear angulation allowing for free, easy movement. BOB, Grp 3

AVNSC Working Junior (3,2) 1. Smith’s Snowshoes Light the Way, Alaskan Malamute. 7mth old feminine bitch with pleasing head and expression of correct proportions and good ear placement, lovely dark almond shaped eyes. Strong neck. Excellent bone and so balanced throughout, this showed in her free, easy movement. Pleased to award her BAVNSC & PGrp1.

AVNSC Working PG (2,1) 1. Dunning’s Chayo Perfect Conditions, Alaskan Malamute. 2yr old male, Typical head set on strong powerful neck. Well filled front and strong hind quarters with slightly sloping topline. Nicely balanced dog in profile but unlucky to meet a lovely puppy on the day.

AV Working Veteran (4,1) 1. Ch Richearon Palden, (Tib Mastiff), Best Working Veteran & RBVIS 2. Evans Rocvilla Chances Secret (Boxer) 7yr old Brindle & White male. Lovely, proportioned head and excellent dark eye giving correct expression. Clean well arched neck. Straight front and deep brisket. Back short and straight. Nicely muscled and moved with a nice ground covering gait. 3. Ch. Snowshoes the White Witch (Alaskan Malamute)
