7th Sept 2025

Judge Carolyn L Hall (Cynami)

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Thank you to the officers and committee members for the invitation to judge Rhodesian Ridgebacks at your show. It was a lovely day and a well-run show, set in a busy agricultural show.

Junior 3 (1 abs)

1st Hodge’s Colkeririn To The Nines – Caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. 6 month old wheaten bitch who is very much one to watch. For such a youngster she really is well put together already. Good width to her skull with depth and length of muzzle all in proportion, correct scissor bite. Soft eye, right amount of wrinkle to forehead and correctly set ears. Good length and strength to neck for her age, flowing into nice lay back of shoulder. Good depth of chest. Nice amount of bone to the leg and a tight foot. Length of loin in proportion to the rest of her body and she already has good muscle to rear. Good turn of stifle and hocks were well let down too. Moved out well and was seemingly effortless. BOB and BPIB. Was lovely to be able to watch her to go on and take Best Puppy in Show.

2nd Bates’ Gunthwaites Boerenveld Classy Man – 12 Month old male. Darker red wheaten and heavier set than no1 but still correct and in good proportions. Would prefer less wrinkle to head but he still has growing to do. Masculine in appearance and heavy in bone. Good length and depth of muzzle. Ears set well. Strong neck leading into nice shoulders and front assembly. Nice spring of rib and a good length of loin. Tail set well and carried well on the move. Nice angulation to the rear.

Post Graduate 2 (1 abs)

1st Tanner & Baldwin’s Barfordridge Igor – 18 month wheaten male. Good head with good depth and length of muzzle. Correct scissor bite. Correct ear placement and good length to neck. Good depth to chest with nice spring of rib. Would prefer a slightly tighter elbow. Good length of loin and nicely muscled rear. Moved well but would prefer slightly more bend of stifle.

Open 4 (3 abs)

1st Tanner & Baldwin’s Barfordridge Rudolph – 5 Yr old wheaten male. Handsome in appearance with eye colour complimenting the coat well. Good proportion to his head with a nice depth and length to muzzle. Nice length and strength to neck. Would have preferred slightly more chest. Good spring of rib. Strong loin and shown in good condition. Unsure if the ground/surrounding unsettled him today as he appeared to be wide in rear movement when going away.
