Retriever (Labrador)

Many thanks to the welcoming committee for the invitation to judge my fabulous breed at one of my favourite shows and with two super stewards to help.

MINOR PUPPY (1)

 1. Edwards’ Frewlings Fastrack at Bearstone

Black dog of just 6 and a half months with a lot to like about him: lovely head with a good eye colour and soft expression. Great coat and lovely thick tail set on well. A little loose movement wise but will tighten up as he matures. Very happy puppy.

PUPPY (4)

 1. Brambles’ Shaymiloney Saucy Olive

Beautifully balanced black bitch of 11 months. She may have left her jacket at home, but she took the class with her very pretty head and unexaggerated silhouette. The tannoy upset her (and many others) but she recovered to move effortlessly around the ring. Loved her elegance from her clean neck into her well placed shoulders, through to her level top line and tail straight off the back. Pleased to award her Reserve Best of Breed & Best Puppy.

 2. Hodge’s Naiken Island Hopping (AI)

Sweet chocolate boy of 9 months with a lovely head and cheeky attitude. Heavier in stature than 1, but light on his tight feet as he went round the ring. Great coat , front and tail set. Super puppy.

 3. McManus-Barthram’s Danru Olyimpia’s Iris Star

JUNIOR (5, 2)

 1. Brambles’ Shaymiloney Saucy Olive

 2. Baron’s Landebec Ventura

A young yellow dog with a kind expression, good length of muzzle and ear placement. Moved well and held his topline.

 3. Young’s Fourjays Comets Carnival

YEARLING (2)

 1. Baron’s Landebec Ventura

 2. Edwards’ Frewlings Gary Player at Bearstone

A 20 month old black of heavier type than the winner. Strong head on solid shoulders, ample bone leading to lovely tight feet. Good front and fabulous coat.

GRADUATE (3, 1)

 1. Edwards’ Frewlings Justin Rose at Bearstone JW

Substantial young dog with a lovely hard coat and super tail. A soft kind eye, correct stop, ample muzzle and good ears. Great front, correct shoulders, well-sprung ribs and good stifles meant he powered round the ring on his super feet. BOB

 2. Young’s Huntress Happy Kiss at Fourjays (IMP UKR)

A pretty bitch unlucky to have met the winner today. Good eye colour and stop. Nice front, good solid topline and good tail set. Moved true.

POST GRADUATE (2,1)

 1. Baron’s Landebec Crazy in Love.

A sweet yellow girl with a very pretty kind head and a lovely eye colour. Clean decent neck on to good shoulders, great coat on a deep chest and good tail set. A little flat on the move but sound nonetheless.

OPEN DOG (0)

OPEN BITCH (2,1)

 1. Baron’s Mariank Vanity Fair at Landebec

Very feminine yellow with a lovely outline and at one with her handler. Well balanced and in good coat, lovely angulation helped her on the move.
