I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge all 6 varieties of Dachshund at their show. What a lovely, well run show this is, I congratulate the committee on such a successful, friendly event. The weather was kind to us although it did get very cold towards the end of the day but at least it was dry. Thank you also to all of the exhibitors that very kindly brought their dogs for me to judge. I had some lovely quality dogs to go over. A couple of things I would like to say is that I was very pleased to see some good fronts & prosternum’s in most varieties as some have been lacking in that area of late. On a not so positive note I had one exhibitor tell me that the dog they were exhibiting needed its last JW point when the dog was presented to me on the table! I found this behaviour disgraceful and this behaviour should be chastised by the Kennel Club. I will add that I continued to judge the class as I would have if this person hadn’t said anything. This is not behaviour that should be encouraged.

Dachshund (Long-Haired)

PUPPY (3/1) 1st BPIB Paskins - Kindeace London’s Calling. A 7-month-old Shaded Red male. A good hound shaped head & masculine too. This dog has a well-developed fore quarter with a prominent prosternum, his hind quarters balanced with his front giving him good, sound, balanced movement. Excellent condition of coat. 2nd Riseborough’s - Abydezi Stand In The Light. A 9-month-old bitch. She has a good shaped feminine head. Her angulation front & hind were good & balanced. She was quite unsettled to begin with but improved as she went on. She has very good drive. SPECIAL YEARLING (2/1) 1st Riseborough’s - Abydezi Stand In The Light (as above). POST GRADUATE (3/0) 1st RBOB Paskins – Kindeace You Wear It Well. Another well-made bitch. She has a good head with an almond shaped dark eye. He stands on good, sound feet. Good angulations fore & aft with a good, solid prosternum. Good length of keel & rib. Moved with balance & ease, driving well from behind. 2nd Paskins – Kindeace Hit The Road Jack JW. This was a tough decision as both 1 & 2 are very similar in their good qualities & later discovered they are litter mates. I found that 1 has a slightly better rib length but to be honest I was splitting hairs with these 2. He has a very h&some, correct head & eye, he is also in super coat, he st&s on good strong feet. His front & hind are well balance as is his movement. He has a super topline which he holds well on the move. 3rd Foleys - Beauty Long at Clavennae. OPEN (4/0) 1st BOB, BVIB Paskins – Cedavoch It’s Taboo at Kindeace A 7.5-year-old male in good quality coat. A good masculine hound head. He has good balanced angles throughout. On the moved he is sound fore & aft holding a good topline. 2nd Bailey’s - Glasvey Double Trouble for Logetta JW VW. An 8 year old bitch that is very nicely put together, she is feminine with a very pretty hound head & good dark eye. She has good fore & rear quarters & moves in balance using herself well. I preferred the ground clearance of 1 but a very tight decision. 3rd Paskins - Kindeace Texas Ranger ShCEx

PUPPY (0) SPECIAL YEARLING (1/1) POST GRADUATE (2/1) 1st BOB Taylor’s – Hampdachs Cheeky Chappy at Whitewebbs. This is a very nice 2.5 year old male. He has a handsome correct hound head with a lovely kind almond shaped eye. He has super forequarters with a strong prosternum. HE stands on good feet. His length of keel is good. On the move his is free moving, holds his lines well & covers the ground with ease. OPEN (1/0)

PUPPY (0) SPECIAL YEARLING (2/0) 1st RBOB Beagrie’s – Felhund Show The Way. Very little to choose between this girl & her litter brother (2nd) She is a 17-month-old, Wild Boar bitch. This girl has a good wire jacket, she has good head shape which is feminine, her eye shape & colour is good as is her ear set, shape & size. She has more prosternum than 2 & her hind quarters were more pleasing on the move. 2nd Beagrie’s – Felhund Moonlight JW Litter brother to 1. Not quite as confident as 1. He has a good quality wire coat; his head is a pleasing as is his eye shape & colour. He has a good length of neck. His keel & rib is of good length. Moved well. POST GRADUATE (3/0) 1st Beagrie’s – Felhund Show The Way 2nd Beagrie’s – Felhund Moonlight JW 3rd Maes-Jones – Cloudside Venus with Derochaise. OPEN (2/0) 1st Maes-Jones CH Derochaise Elusia JW. This bitch oozes quality throughout. What a pleasure to go over such a balanced well-made bitch. She has a good wire jacket. Her head is a classical hound shape & very pretty, with an almond shaped, dark eye. She has a strong prosternum, good angulation in front with good length of upper arm. Her keel is of good length as are her ribs. She has well let down hocks & is nicely angulated behind. On the move she is balanced, showing good reach & drive. Very pleased to award her BOB & BVIB. 2nd Osbourne’s Derochaise Vincenzo Di Braego. A Wild Boar male of good substance. He has a good wire jacket, good head & eye. He has good length of neck. His shoulders are well laid. He was carrying a little too much weight today, but still moved with very good drive covering the ground well.

PUPPY (4/1) BPIB 1st Edwards-Everett & Everett’s Emeraldax Naked Kiss. An 11.5-month-old Cream Bitch puppy, she is of good size with a good hound shaped head, she has a lovely dark pigment to her eyes & nose. She has a good length of neck with well-placed shoulders & good angulation. Her crook is of good shape. Her keel & rib is of good length. Her hind angulation is in balance with her forequarters. On the move, she really motored on, using good reach & drive. 2nd Phillips - Summerview Midnight Sky. A well matured 9-month-old Black & Tan Bitch of good size & in good coat. She has a very pretty hound head with good eye colour & shape. She has well angulated hind quarters that she used well on the move. 3rd Dabrowa’s Grondhale Black Tulip. SPECIAL YEARLING (1/1) POST GRADUATE (1/0) 1st BOB Taverner’s Brackenfire My Honey Bee at Tavertekal. A 3-year-old Black & Cream Bitch of good quality & size. I really liked this girl. She has a pleasing hound head. She has a good length of neck & lovely angulation fore & aft. Good length of keel & rib with a short strong loin. Her balance in angulation showed on the move, she with good reach & drive covering the ground with ease. OPEN (0/0)

PUPPY (3/1) 1st BPIB Carter’s - Russetcopse The Fig Cheese. A 9-month-old Black & Tan Bitch with the most exquisite, pretty hound head. She is of good size & shape. Well bodied up for a youngster. Excellent prosternum & front angles with super length of keel & rib. Moved with ease showing good drive & balance. 2nd &rews – Savannah Seasons Diamond. Unfortunately, she didn’t stay for a critique. SPECIAL YEARLING (6/0) 1st Carter’s – Russetcopse Figaro. 9 months old Black & Tan male. Litter brother to the puppy winner. He is a male version of his sister. He has a super appealing head of good shape & eye. Super construction & angles in front & behind. Good length of keel & rib. Lovely topline. Moved very well & balanced. 2nd Watkinson’s – Whitewebbs Excalibur. 18-month-old Black & Tan male. Another super youngster, very nicely put together. He has a h&some hound head with good eye shape & colour. Good angulations in front & behind with a good strong topline. Moved very well. 3rd Foley’s Loggeta Lucky Swirl at Clavennae. POST GRADUATE (8/1) 1st BOB Hambling’s - Chaseover Pascala. A Black & Tan bitch of almost 2 years old. Nothing to dislike about this girl. She has a pretty feminine head of correct shape, good length of neck, her forequarters are of good equal angles showing a prominent prosternum. Her keel & ribs are of good length. Her hind angles are good balancing well with the forequarters. He moved well & in balance. 2nd Coote’s - Andeysson Cape Verde A lovely Chocolate & Tan 4 yr old bitch. This girl has a good hound shaped head. Her ear set is good. Angulations are balanced fore & aft. Would have liked a little longer keel. She moved very well particularly using her hind quarters driving her along. 3rd Taylor’s – Whitewebbs Titania. OPEN (6/1) 1st RBOB BVIB Watkinson’s - Loggeta Boom and Bust. A very good quality Red bitch of 8 years old. She has a stunning classic hound head showing femininity. Her forequarters were of equal length & angles. Super topline & underline leading to a very well balanced & angulated hind. The drive on this girl is just superb.2nd Strange’s – Stargang Magic Alfie Moon at Cazdachs. A Red male of 6 years old. This is another well-made boy. A little shorter in rib than 1, nevertheless, still a nicely balanced dog with a good head & eye. Good length of neck, balanced angles front & rear. Moved well. 3rd Williams – Lokmadi Call Me Louis Rozamie.

PUPPY (2/0) 1st Grant’s - Bingobongo’s Dodge at Granhoward. A Black & Tan male of 8 months old This boy has a good wire jacket. His head is of good shape with an almond shaped eye. He has good length of neck. His shoulders are well laid & his blade is of equal length to his upper arm giving him good angulation in front. He has adequate keel & rib length with a short loin. His rear angles are good with a well let down hock. Moved well with balance. 2nd Tomsett’s - Dajean Spanish Lace. A shaded Red 7-month-old bitch. A very cute, pleasing face & head with good eye colour & shape. This girl has a super forechest & prosternum, her keel & ribs are of good length & has a short, strong loin. She moved well but was a little unsettled. I think she will be one to watch for the future. SPECIAL YEARLING (5/0) 1st BPIB Tomsett’s – Sandanca Cosmos at Dajean. A Wild Boar Male of almost 12 months. WOW! This dog just impressed me so much. Standing on the table he looked superb. He has a good thick wire jacket; his head is good conical shape & has good facial furnishings. He has good length of neck, lovely lay of shoulder with an amazing forefront showing excellent angulation. His long keel & ribs leads to a beautifully angulated rear. He stands on good feet and moves with good reach & immense drive. Thrilled to award him BOB 2nd Gaut-Jones’s - Rosenbach Christmas Rose. Another super type. This bitch is 17-month-old. A good head with a feminine look. She is in good harsh coat. Her neck is of good length, shoulders well laid. Good length of rib, hind quarters are well angulated. She moved very well with balance & drive. 3rd Ward-Blower’s - Dajean Surely Keifer at Willowmist POST GRADUATE (3/0) 1st Tomsett’s – Hebrideansky Canna By Dajean. A 16-month-old, Wild Boar Bitch. A super girl, very balanced & together in her appearance. Her head is of good shape & her eye colour & shape is correct. Again, this girl has a super well angulated a developed front quarter with matching angles in the hind quarters. She has a super topline both stacked & on the move. She also has super drive. 2nd Ward-Blower’s - Whitewebbs Jonny Be Good at Willowmist. A male of 5.5 years approx. A little finer in bone than 1. He has a good head shape with good length of neck. He has good angles front & rear, good length of neck. Moved well. 3rd Grant’s – Granhoward Priscilla. OPEN (4/0) 1st RBOB Tomsett’s = Dajean’s Red Sun A Shaded Red male of almost 3 years of age. My notes read “another cracker, one hell of a coat”. This dog has an amazing, dense, wire coat, he has a masculine, handsome head of correct shape. His well laid shoulders & equal length of blade & upper arm give this boy a super well angulated front outline. He has a good topline with good length of rib. His rear quarters are in balance with the front. His movement both in reach & drive was a pleasure to watch. 2nd BVIB Macfarlan’s – Granhoward Lilly. A bitch of excellent quality again. She is 8.5yrs of age. Super construction fore & rear. Her angulation is balanced & well developed. She has a super topline & matching underline. Her movement is balanced & powerful. 3rd Ward-Blower’s – Whitewebbs Jonny Be Good at Willowmist.
