POINTER CLUB OPEN SHOW 11/10/25

I would like to thank the committee for their invitation to judge this show, it’s always an honour to judge your own breed at a club show, also grateful thanks to all the exhibitors for their entries, there were lots of quality dogs present……and I thoroughly enjoyed my day!

MINOR PUPPY DOG (2)

1ST Angus & O’Neill – Tenshilling Catch the Wind 8 mth old O/W, good size for age, pleasing head of good proportions with good turn of lip, nice length of neck leading to a straight front with correct lay of shoulders and good upper arm, chest to elbows, ribbed well back, nice and strong in his loin, adequate rear angulation. Moved out true and soundly on a naturally long free stride showing plenty reach. BPD & RBPiS

2nd O’Neill – Tenshilling Hello Stranger 8 mth old B/W litter brother to 1st, similar remarks apply, preferred the head on this boy, his brother just showed a little more balance stacked today, moved with precision using his tail showing true pointer character. I’m sure these boys will switch places with one another in the future.

1st (2nd Minor Puppy Dog)

2nd Raynor, Spinks & Pringle – Collholme Mr Brown with Spinray 9 mth old L/W has a beautifully balanced head, dark eye with kindly expression, thin leathers, reachy neck, good bone and feet, balanced proportions front and rear, has strength all through. Moved out well using his level set tail.

JUNIOR DOG (3)

1st Matthews – Sonham Just the Ticket (AI) 14 mth L/W up to size boy, has a pleasing head with nice thin leathers, would prefer his eye colour to be a shade darker, reachy neck, good bone shape and feet, slightly sloping pasterns, correct shoulder and rear angulation, would like more heart room and depth to fore chest, strong in his loin, moved well using his tail, just needs to settle both coming and going.

2nd Booth & Oddie – Lundgarth Fly the Flag JW 12 mth old O/W who possesses the most exquisite head, good turn of lip and fine leathers, dark mischievous eyes of good shape, archy neck, he stands on good feet and has correct bone, good depth of chest for age, super front angulation, just needs to mature and drop into his shape. He was a tad keen on the move today, used his tail well and showed good carriage.

1ST O’Neill – Tenshilling Shboom JW almost 2yo B/W head of equal proportions, neat thin ears, slightly arched neck with good reach, liked his front construction and return of upper arm, good depth of chest, nice straight front with slightly sloping pasterns, stands on good well padded feet, brisket to elbow, nice spring to his ribs and strong in his body, sufficient rear angulation, well muscled quarters. Moved out straight and true with good footfall using his tail.

1st Feichtinger – Berseydale Poker Face 2yo B/W very hard to fault this boy, and one I would like to take home! He’s super curvy, balanced and symmetrical all through, short coupled, excellent lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, strong sweeping well-muscled quarters and expanse of 2nd thigh, His head is balanced with plenty of chiselling under his eyes, lovely thin leathers. On the move he is so sound true & stylish using his short, neat tail. RBD

1ST Anthony – Jilony Zeuss 2.5 yo B/W lovely head on this boy, with lots of work under his eyes, nice turn of lip, reachy neck leading to good shoulder placement, good return of upper arm, has good shape of bone with slightly sloping pasterns, good depth of chest, well ribbed back, falls away slightly over his croup, moved ok and just needs to settle.

2nd Halls – Jilony Columbo at Dalhallpals 4yo L/W who was a bit of a fidget today! Nice size of dog stronger in head than 1, good ear set, would prefer a little more angulation front and rear, short coupled and had nice short hocks, preferred this boys tail set, moved out happily.

POST GRADUATE DOG (6)

1ST Millett – Riowood Orange Twist 2yo O/W, medium sized well-muscled dog, head of equal proportions, nice dark eye, he has good bone and stands on well-padded feet, slightly sloping pasterns, there is a good shape to him, short coupled with balanced angles front and rear, good lay of shoulder, liked his tail set and neat short tail which he used on the move, moved soundly with good footfall.

2nd Norbury & Ganney – Heartbury Matador JW 2yo O/W a shade more rangy and not as far on in body than 1 but very shapely none the less, has curvy and produces a nice balanced picture, pleasing head of equal proportions, clean neck, lovely slope to pasterns straight front, needs to deepen in chest but still young, showing some strength in his body, moved out ok using his tail well.

1ST Webb – Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW 3yo O/W medium sized dog who is easy on the eye and stands over his ground well, he has a pleasing head with good turn of lip, kind but alert expression, high set fine leathered ears, archy muscular neck leading to a good lay of shoulder, straight front with oval bone and pronounced sinews, stands on well-padded feet of good shape, good depth of chest with plenty heart room, good return of upper arm, short strong loin with good layback of rib, well-muscled sweeping quarters and low set hocks, moved out sound and true with a ground covering stride using his correct well set tail.

2nd Allen – Dondaig Wooden Heart 5.5yo B/W of a larger mould than 1 and longer cast, he presents an appealing curvy outline, preferred this boys head which is balanced with a pronounced stop and kindly expression, nice turn of lip, he has a reachy well-muscled neck, shoulders well laid back, nice straight front and depth to his chest, plenty heart room, stands on good feet and has nice shape to his bone, good spring of rib, he has super angulation front and rear showing good return of upper arm and lovely sweep to his stifle, in good coat and condition, moved out well in profile, just a shade loose in his pasterns.

1ST Philo – Sunhouse Black is Back at Salmonmist JW (AI), 2yo blanket B/W he draws you in with his super curvy outline, he has the most beautiful head and expression, along with a naughty glint in his dark eyes, thin high set ears, archy strong neck leading to good shoulder placement, lovely front angulation with good return of upper arm, lovely depth of fore chest, straight front with nice oval bone, padded feet of good shape, well ribbed back with strong loin and firm topline which he held on the move, nice gentle sweep to his stifles leading to nice short hocks, moved out sound and true using his tail, in super coat and muscular condition. 2nd Oliver & Stilgoe – ShCh Teisgol Love is in the Air ShCEx 5yo O/W a worthy champion with lots to like and just unlucky to meet 1, he’s a dog of good size, pleasing head with plenty of work, fine high set ears, archy neck, good shoulder placement, nice depth of chest, well ribbed and shorter coupled than 1, nice and strong in his loin, moderate angles front and rear, liked his tail set and shape of tail, in muscular condition, a super sound moving dog.

1ST (1ST Novice Dog)

2nd Walton – Meadowpoint Jack O’Lantern at Pointmoor almost 2yo O/W he possesses the most beautiful head and expression, high set thin ears, long reachy neck leading to a good shoulder placement, nice straight front with good bone and feet, he has super construction but still has a lot of maturing to do but growing at a nice rate, short and strong in his loin, moved out well holding his topline, just a little fidgety today for his handler on the stack.

VETERAN (2)

1st Philo – Fydal Caprio at Salmonmist JW ShCm OSW ShCEx VW 8.5yo O/W medium sized dog, balanced well chiselled head, kindly expression, high set thin leathers, archy neck, good lay of shoulder placement, he’s excellently constructed showing strength and balance, stands on good bone and feet, moved well with good reach and drive, using his well-set tail. BVD & BVIS

2nd Wall – Meadowpoint Spirit of Fire 11yo B/W who certainly doesn’t look his age, an honest dog with nothing overdone, of a larger mould than 1, he has a pleasing head with kind expression, good bone and feet and depth to his chest, moderate angles front and rear, good spring to his ribs and short in his loin, moved out happily holding his topline and using his tail.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (2)

1ST Wright, Stilgoe, Stilgoe & Fox – Teisgol Aurora Borealis at Abbothagg 9mth O/W, a sweet girl who has lots to like and shows lots of promise, nice size, pleasing head of equal proportions, high set thin leathers, pronounced occiput, reachy neck leading to good shoulder placement, good shape of bone and stands on well padded correct feet, nice return of upper arm, ribbed well back with short strong couplings, good sweep to her stifle and width of second thigh, moved well and behaved better as the class went on.

2nd Upton-Lovett & Upton – Heartbury Endless Love with Roydack almost 8 mth L/W, a pretty girl, not as together as 1 today, and definitely had her naughty head on! She has a lovely head with defined stop and plenty work under her eyes, lengthy neck leading to clean shoulders, lovely angles in front with good upper arm, longer cast than 1, showing some strength in her loin, adequate rear angles, stands on good feet, moved out well, just needs to settle which will come with time.

1st Hinton, Luke & Leman – Fleurfield Betty Barclay 9 mth B/W, another who appealed in many ways, she has the most exquisite head with pronounced occiput and has the darkest of eyes, kind expression with a glint of naughtiness, long archy neck leading to nice clean shoulder placement, good return of upper arm, ample bone and correct well padded feet, nice depth of chest for her age, good length to her ribs and shows plenty strength in her loin and topline, moved really well showing plenty reach and drive using her well set tail. 1st Booth – Lundgarth Ticket to Fly JW 12 mth B/W, a quality girl of a nice size, she has the most gorgeous head and expression and possesses the darkest of eyes, lovely neat high set ears, excelled in her angulation both front and rear, straight front and ample depth to her chest for her age, short coupled and strong in her topline, good expanse of thigh and well-muscled quarters, moved out well, sound both coming and going.

2nd Matthews – Sonham Just Good Friends (AI) almost 15 mth L/W, honest girl who presents a lovely picture in profile, nothing overdone, longer cast and of a larger mould than 1, she has a balanced head with thin leathers, long reachy neck leading to the cleanest of shoulders, good return of upper arm, would like a little more width to her chest but that will come with time, she has a nice sweep to her well-muscled quarters, moved out well using her tail.

Really splitting hairs with 1 and 2!

1st Dunn – Meadowpoint Hocus Pocus JW almost 2yo L/W super curvy and very much in proportion all through, has a beautifully balance head with correct eye colour, high set thin ears, long muscular neck leading into well laid back clean shoulder placement, straight front with slightly sloping pasterns, stands on the best of feet, brisket well let down and well ribbed back, firm in her topline and has strength over her loin, gentle sweep to her stifle leading to low well set hocks, moved sound and true showing correct footfall.

2nd Oddie – Riowood Tick Tick Boom to Sharnphilly 21mth B/W, another super curvy ultra feminine girl, her head is exquisite, deep stop, plenty of chiselling and pronounced occiput, long reach to her neck, good lay of shoulder, super angles front and rear which compliment each other, short in her couplings showing strength, loved her neat well set tail, on the move again she is sound and true, just preferred the carriage of 1.

1st Millett – Lavetto Tennessee Whiskey 19 mth O/W, clean in profile, balanced head with good eye colour, straight front and depth to her chest, good shoulder placement, well ribbed back leading to strong quarters and lovely turn of stifle, tail set on well and of good shape, moved steadily on an even stride.

1ST Booth – Lundgarth Jubilee JW 3 yo O/W pretty girl with a pleasing head with ears set high and thin leathers, she has a super lay of shoulder and good upper arm with corresponding sweeping quarters showing good expanse of thigh, she moved well using her well set tail.

2nd Anthony – Jilony Zelda 2yo B/W She has the most beautiful head of equal proportions, darkest of eyes, long archy reachy neck leading to a good layback of shoulders, good return of upper arm, chest to elbows, short in loin, nice sweeping stifle leading to short hocks, tail well set on. Moved ok

POST GRADUATE BITCH(3)

1st Brooksmith – Nightgold Pipkin 6yo L/W sweet girl of good size, pleasing head, would prefer more width to her muzzle, lengthy neck leading to good shoulder placement, ample proportions front and rear, good bone pasterns and feet, moved ok.

Spoiled for choice in this lovely class.

1st O’Neill – Tenshilling To Sir with Love JW 3yo O/W, super curvy and symmetrical, prettiest of heads, dark eyes with kindly expression, good turn of lip and wide flaring nostrils, muscular neck, cleanest of shoulders, nice depth to her fore chest, straight front with gently sloping pasterns, correct shape to her feet, she is well ribbed back and strong in her topline, her tail comes straight off her back and is of good shape, sweeping muscular quarters showing good expanse of 2nd thigh, strong in her low set hocks. She moved out with purpose, sound both coming and going, in profile she was light on her feet.

2nd Boulton – Codnorhawk Starlight at Moreoldglen almost 3yo L/W, what a soundly constructed very honest bitch, clean lines, nothing overdone, balanced head with good turn of lip, reachy neck, strong in her body, good shape of bone with pronounced sinews, straight front with plenty heartroom, balanced angles both front and rear making her stand over her ground well, short coupled with strength in her loin. Her movement compliments her construction, ultra sound from all angles with good carriage, lovely to see her lashing her tail.

1ST Webb – ShCh Tenshilling The Wanderer 5yo O/W who has lots to like, ultra feminine, curvy and symmetrical, she possesses the most beautiful of heads with darkest of eyes, lots of work under her eyes, deep stop and pronounced occiput, archy neck leading to a good layback of shoulders, lovely front angulation with good return of upper arm, nice spring to her ribs, strong in her topline which was held on the move, her rear is curvaceous and well muscled showing good expanse of 2nd thigh, lovely short hocks. Moving she is super sound and light on her feet, precise in her foot fall and shows lovely carriage. BB & BiS

2nd Hinton, Luke & Leman – ShCh Fleurfield Black Caviar 3yo B/W another with lots to like, again oozing femininity, of good size and not overdone in any way, gorgeous head showing plenty of work and pronounced occiput, dark eye with kindly expression, lengthy neck, excellent lay of shoulder, excels in her front and rear angulation, well muscled with short and strong couplings, her tail of good shape comes straight off her back, she moved freely on a loose lead showing good carriage, soundness and precision with plenty reach and drive. 1ST Robson – Codnorhawk Dinky Stta at Bradgate almost 6yo B/W sweet girl who enjoyed her day out, pleasing head with kindly expression, she has moderate angles throughout, she moved out happily using her tail.

1ST Guy – Carofel On Silent Wings JW 8yo B/W, symmetrically balanced and not overdone in any way, retaining her femininity at all times, stands over her ground well which compliments her sound construction, she has a beautiful head with plenty chiselling, wide flared nostrils, thin leathers, muscular neck with good layback of shoulder, straight front with plenty heart room, slightly sloping pasterns, elbows tight to her ribs, she moved of freely on a loose lead with great carriage, sound and positive with her foot fall. 2nd Raynor, Spinks & Pringle – Gartarry High Society at Spinray JW 8yo B/W very pretty head showing lots of work, deep stop and pronounced occiput, neat high set ears and wide flared nostrils, feminine throughout with moderate angles front and rear, good shoulder placement, nice spring to her ribs, strong in her topline, her rear is well muscled, tail set on well and of good shape, she moved out well both true coming and going.

1ST Booth – Almost foot perfect, moved and turned very well together.

2nd O’Neill – 2 boys that were very well behaved but thoroughly enjoying themselves, looked good in unison.
