Colne Nelson & District Canine Society

Colne Nelson Premier Open Show 27 September 2025

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at its Premier Open Show and to my excellent steward for her invaluable assistance. A most enjoyable show in an excellent venue. Also, thanks to those exhibitors who entered this well run event.

German Shepherd Dogs

I was pleased with an entry of excellent quality in every class. Temperaments were without exception rock solid. I was happy to see the maturer exhibits were generally sound in movement without any significant exaggeration in conformation.

J (1/0)

1/ Landgren and Towning’s Yakasimba Bianca

16 month old, black and gold long coat female. She is of correct size. Overall appearance was pleasing with no exaggerated features. Excellent bone adding to the overall impression of a quality youngster. Head was clearly that of a young female with correctly proportioned ears. Straight back leading to a slightly steep croup. Front angulation correct. I’d prefer slightly less rear angulation. Still slightly loose going which hopefully will strengthen as she matures, but side gait was excellent. A bright future awaits this young female.

L (4/0)

1/ Cave’s Casiann Atlas

Five year old black and gold male. Long coat with excellent pigmentation. He is a mature top size dog with no exaggeration. He was presented in good condition and has a superb coat. Clearly masculine head with correct ear size and setting. Withers and back are correct and remain firm on the move. Pasterns could be stronger. Front and rear angulation are correct. He is sound in movement, but today, I would have preferred more dynamism on the gait.

2/ Lemon’s Solophina Floyd at Mitzahner

5 year old black and gold male. Strong male characteristics. Correctly sized dog with little exaggeration. Front and rear angulation are balanced and correct in stance. He was slightly close moving away. Efficient mover when gaiting, but could have been a bit harder in condition. On the day, just lacked the presence and condition of the class winner.

O (2/1)

1/ O’Neill’s Kidaforce Corin of Dunningwell

5 year old black and gold large female. She is very feminine in appearance of solid construction. A touch deep in the body perhaps. Front and rear angulations are correct. Back is straight with correct croup. Although, she could have been presented in harder condition, her movement on the gait was excellent and she was sound both coming and going. Very well presented and handled and deserving of Best of Breed on her movement.
