MINEHEAD AND DISTRICT CS OPEN Show- 2 NOV 25.

Gundogs:

Many thanks to the committee for asking me to judge and their warm hospitality. Thanks to Ian and Sue my efficient stewards and to the exhibitors for bringing such quality dogs for me to preside over. A thoroughly enjoyable day.

Gundogs group, I shortlisted 9 from this quality line up and anyone of them could have taken the top spot and in the end it was down to showmanship and ring presence. G1 the stunning pointer, Philos Sunhouse black is back at Salmonmist JW, caught my eye with his classic outline, full of breed type and well balanced all through, handsome head refined with chiselling under eyes, deep chest and good lay of shoulder, has excellent feet, moved with drive, holding his outline, Heard after he has 2 CCS, so should get his title as well worthy of it. Was pleased to learn he went on to win BIS, Well done. 2nd Stirks IWS Nyllaup akoya pearl for Grakar JW, Exciting youngster, Feminine head with alert eyes and expression, plenty of brain room, hint of cheekiness, powerful neck leading to big ribs. Already well off for bone and muscle tone, coat of correct texture, holds her outline when moving, not surprised she has 2 CCs already but I feel the best is yet to come and she will win champ show groups before long. 3rd Challis Vizslanya Domenkos JW, Another quality dog from this kennel, won through earlier from a good entry of vizslas. Loved his handsome head, good eye colour and well set ears, has strength through his neck and body, prominent breastbone and tight elbows, presents a classic outline stacked and moving, certainly fit for purpose, and well handled, gorgeous russet colour coat which positively gleamed. 4th Serpa and Grahams Winterwell Tubby tompkin from Nyliram. JW, GSP, I have often admired the Winterwells GSP and was not disappointed in going over this lad. Quality dog, full of breed type, all male from his correct head proportions, with dark eye and expression, through to a well balanced body. Strong in second thigh and hocks, also fit for function. Showed himself to advantage to pip the Field into 4th place.

Deserves her title. 2nd Hills Peasblossom Emotions with Teignvalley, Stunning ESS puppy, again from a kennel I admire. Elegant feminine head with soft dark eye, deep chest and well sprung ribs, strong rear and well muscled up, held pleasing outline on the move and presented in lovely bloom, another who should make up. 3rd Mcilwaines and Reynolds Flatcharm mr heckles for Benoveor, very happy flat coat lad from a top kennel, handsome head with kind eye and expression, well made body with depth of chest and firm in topline, moved out well holding a lovely outline, in great coat and condition and pushed winners hard. 4th Moodys Trendlewood hometown glory, yellow lab who had won a quality class earlier on, liked his head piece, broad skull, good stop and muzzle and dark eye, uses his ears well as attentive to handler, well balanced body with barrel ribs and strong second thigh.
