 Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at the 100th Anniversary Show It was quite cold today and some of the exhibits had to change their placings as they were not always showing their best

Irish Setter

Graduate (3,0abs)

1 – Murray’s Quensha I know him so well

A well-balanced dog with excellent overall proportions, epitomising the elegant outline typical of the breed. Head refined yet strong, with a lovely dark eye expressing typical setter gentleness. Neck clean and arched, flowing neatly into well-laid shoulders. Deep chest with plenty of heart room, and straight forelegs with tight feet. Topline level both standing and moving, with good hind angulation allowing a ground-covering, flowing stride. Rich, lustrous chestnut coat in beautiful condition, feathering of good length without excess. RBOB

2 Taylor’s Dendroch Anne Frank

A promising young bitch showing much breed quality and potential. Slightly less mature than 1, but with a pleasing outline and good bone. Elegant head with correct stop and well-set ears, adding to an alert yet gentle expression. Well-angulated front and rear, with free, balanced movement. Topline remains firm on the move. Coat developing nicely, with deep colour and even texture. Will only improve as she matures and gains more ring confidence.

1 Murray’s Henaleas Maximilian With Derrydore JW

A standout male, exuding quality and strong adherence to the breed standard. Beautifully proportioned with flowing lines from nose to tail. Masculine head without coarseness, expressive eyes and correct ear set. Well-arched neck leads into perfect shoulders. Strong, straight forelegs and deep, well-sprung ribcage. Powerful, well-muscled hindquarters give excellent drive. Moving effortlessly maintaining harmony front to rear. Coat gloriously rich in colour, with good feathering and texture. Presented in peak condition — a credit to his handler. BOB

2 Richards ‘– Redclyst Captain Kidd

A quality dog of correct type, slightly heavier in build than 1 but still maintaining elegance. Well-shaped head with kind eye and balanced proportions. Neck clean, shoulders well laid back, and forequarters strong. Solid topline with muscular loin. Moves with purpose and drive, Coat rich in colour and well-groomed. Just lacked a touch of the fluidity in movement seen in 1 today.

Nova Scotia Duck Toller Retriever

 1) Hipkiss’s Deltandamba It’s A Sin

A delightful young dog already showing promise for the future. Balanced outline, with straight front legs and tight, compact feet. Head in proportion, ears set high and carried slightly forward when alert. Chest developing well, reaching to elbows, and body showing appropriate depth for age. Movement confident and free, with sound tracking front and rear. Coat of soft puppy texture but already demonstrating correct density and beginning feathering. Displays the keen and engaging temperament the breed is known for, without loss of composure in the ring (BP and RBOB)

Litter sister to my winner but not as mature but the majority of remarks apply

 Maintained quality and balance throughout the competition. Head shows correct wedge shape, moderate stop, and well-balanced proportions between muzzle and skull. Eyes almond-shaped, set well apart, with a bright and intelligent expression. Strong, slightly arched neck leading into level topline. Moved with agility and purpose, demonstrating breed-typical endurance. Coat of correct double texture, water-resistant, and in prime condition, although not entire, his qualities outweighed this for me to award him BOB

2 Johnson’s Stellenbach Almeda of Tarnlaikers

8 yr old dog who still shows well . Good length of back and straight front, moderate tuck up, good tail set, moved out ok

16 Month liver and White dog who I have judged as a puppy , maturing well with good head planes and a kind eye. Long lobular ears and good lay of shoulder. Level topline with good tail set. Moderate hind angulation and tight oval feet. Pushed hard for BOB, pleased to award him RBOB His time will come

2 Bullock’s Trixhund shut for Lunch

Liver and white bitch, not quite the body of the dog, feminine head and ears set level with eyes . good length of neck, feathering needs to develop.

A well-balanced, quality dog of excellent type, displaying the classic English Springer Spaniel outline. Head strong, with a refined skull, proportionate muzzle, and well-defined stop. Dark, expressive eyes giving that kindly, alert expression, correctly set ears with good feathering, lying close to the cheeks. Neck of good length, flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders. Forequarters straight and well-boned, tidy feet, and correct angulation allowing for free and easy movement. Body of correct proportions, deep chest, and strong, level topline retained on the move. Hindquarters powerful with well-developed second thighs, moderately bent stifles, and short hocks. Coat of ideal texture, dense and weather-resistant with moderate feathering. Movement true and effortless from all angles — ground-covering stride, forward reach coupled with strong drive from the rear, maintaining discipline and style in the ring. (BOB)

Welsh Springer Spaniel

Graduate (2,1 abs)

  1st: 136 Johnson and Langley’s Santallina Corebus

  A well-balanced, typical Welsh Springer Spaniel exhibiting excellent breed type. Head of correct proportions with a slightly domed skull, well-defined stop, and kind, expressive eyes. Ears set on at eye level, nicely feathered and lying close to the cheeks. Strong, clean neck leading into well-laid shoulders and straight forelegs with ample bone. Body of moderate length with well-sprung ribs, firm topline maintained on the move. Hindquarters well-muscled, with moderate bend of stifle and short hocks. Moved with effortless reach and drive, holding a happy and active disposition throughout. Coat of rich red and white, straight and flat, with texture and condition well prepared. A worthy BOB today.

Cocker Spaniel

Graduate Class (3,2 abs)

1st Harvey’s Tomerine Night Agent

A quality dog, masculine with substance. Head classic in outline, gentle expression, and soft eye. Compact frame with good angulation fore and aft. Moved with drive and purpose. Coat needs to come yet but is correct for a puppy (BP And RBOB))

2 Harvey’s Tomerine La Dolca Vita

Carrying more weight than 1 today. in good coat, feminine head and short body moved out merrily.

 Lovely feminine Black bitch in full coat. Feminine head with good depth of stop, full kind dark eyes . Ears lobular, set level with ears, moderate neck sloping into well laid shoulders. Short back and well-developed fore chest. well sprung ribs, short loin, level topline. Wide muscular thighs and good bend of stifle, with short hocks. firm thickly padded feet moved with drive and tail never stopped wagging to win her BOB

2 Burn’s Florraadora Amazonite Dream

Black and white bitch of good proportions longer cast than1. Feminine head with well feathered lobular ears. Silky coat not the maturity of 1

1 Clarke’s Florry’s Boy Big Phil JW – A true ambassador for the breed, presenting a strong, low, and well-balanced outline. Broad head with the classic soft expression, rich golden-liver coat in excellent condition, and sound, steady movement with drive. Calm, confident temperament completed the picture. Fully deserving of his win and Best of Breed.

1 Matthew’s Sonham Just the Ticket (AI)

Well-proportioned Liver and White youngster of pleasing type, showing much promise for the future. Head of good length with well-defined stop and clean muzzle, expression kind and attentive. Neck slightly arched, flowing cleanly into well-laid shoulders. Straight forelegs with adequate bone, feet oval and tight. Holds a level topline when standing, though understandably still developing strength on the move. Gait light and easy, covering the ground with minimal effort. A quality young dog with all the essentials for progression in the ring. (BOB)

Matthews ‘Sonham Just Good Friends (AI)

Good specimen of the breed, combining elegance with strength. Beautifully proportioned head with soft, intelligent expression and correctly shaped eye. Strong, clean neck into excellent shoulder assembly, chest deep without excess width. Firm, level topline held with ease both standing and moving. Hindquarters powerful, enabling the long, reaching stride characteristic of the Pointer. Coat fine, short and close, Preferred the depth of Chest of the junior (RBOB)

3 yr old boy with an excellent harsh jacket good furnishing, strong neck with nice lay of shoulder. He has matured up a lot since I last judged him. Was not moving the best today but the ring was quite small for a long striding dog, Unlucky to meet the open winner RBOB

Excellent Black and Tan dog who is worthy of his title. Lovely head with a good stop and round eyes and deep muzzle. Level topline and well laid-back shoulders with good hind angulation. Excellent coat Moved with drive , Coud not be denied Best NSC

2 Jones Germanus Dutch Delight

6 yr old liver and white bitch with good head planes and nice dark eye. Good front assembly with a good lay of shoulder. Straight forelegs and sloping pasterns. Moderate hind angulation, correct height/length ration. Moved OK

1 Hart’s Gilliegrae So Berry Excited (Irish and White Setter)

11-month-old boy who is developing well, Moderate stop with good depth of muzzle round hazel eyes and ear set level with eyes, broad head domed skull moderately long neck and well laid shoulders, front legs have oval bone , deep chest and well sprung ribs Well bent stifles and low hocks. Fine textured with feathering starting to come

 Did not show as well in the puppy group and had to change places with the Weimaraner

2 Pearman’s Weipowa Shaken Not Stirred to Britmans

 This boy got more settled as the day went on. Very mature for his age and well-muscled Correct head planes with a moderate stop. Good depth of flew, Strong long neck, level topline and good lay of shoulder, Straight forelegs, nice tight feet, Ribs well back and short loin. Moderate hind angulation correct tail set. Think he woke up and pulled all the stops out to reverse places with the Irish Red and White in the challenge for BPIG

7 yr old Hungarian Viszla. Noble looking bitch with lean skull and strong median line with oval eyes. Moderately low set ears with correct v shape. Moderately long neck set on well laid shoulders. Tight elbows and well sprung ribs, slight tuck up and prominent sternum. Well developed thighs and moderate angulation. Rounded arched toes and strong nails. Rather low set tail. still moving well. Pity it never came in the group

2 Kingsmist Miss Marple Field Spaniel

7 yr old black bitch, Noble looking with a well-defined Occiput. Good chiselling below eyes moderate stop with long muzzle, Almond shaped eyes with low set lobular ears and well feathered. Strong jaw. Strong long neck and long sloping shoulders, deep chested and moderately sprung ribs Back and loin are well muscled and level. Round tight feet with strong pads tail set low and carried level with the back, Moved well
