Maltese Club

Maltese Club Open Show 13 April 2025

Many thanks to the society for this very kind invitation.

A most beautiful breed with proud head carriage and flowing movement and one that in my years of observing hasn’t changed that much.

The standard mentions they are a smart white dog and sweet tempered and that was what I found on the day.

A very enjoyable appointment with lovely dogs and people. The committee were very welcoming. A lovely day. Thank you all.

Special beginners dog (1,0)

1st Glab Taroy Se La Vi (IMP POL) – balanced outline and well bodied with distinct level topline and correct tail set. Liked his head shape, balanced and in proportion. Has correct oval eyes with dark haloes. Mouth spoils. Coat is straight but dry on the day. Super mover in all directions especially in profile.

Special Pet Trim dog (1,0)

1st Welbourns CH.Zumarnik Calling The Shots. Of excellent type through out. Pretty head with slightly rounded skull. Dark oval eyes with correct pigment and haloes. Very cobby body with ample rib. Topline level and firm. Trimmed short, coat has a very silky feel. Very Friendly chap!

Puppy dog (1,0)

1st Jacksons Omissilleb Nimbus At Benatone – BPIS. Mature puppy who excelled in movement with notable strong rear action giving excellent drive. Loved his head properties, super eyes and pigment, correct muzzle and lovely mouth. Excellent conformation. Lovely proportions to body and length of leg. Coat was super. So silky and cool to the touch, of good length and straight. One to watch.

Novice dog (1,0)

1st- repeat of special beginners

Limit dog (1,0)

1st Welbourn Zumarnik Made You Look – rather unsettled to really get going with a very patient encouraging handler but in stance presents an immaculate picture. His coat was just faultless, straight, silky and gleaming. Has the best of heads with lovely expression coming from oval dark eyes with black pigment. Very balanced cobby body with good shoulders and rear angulation. RBD

Open dog (1,0)

1st Holland and Wasilewska Multi CH Rhapsody Livin My Best Life At Sarasuma (IMP USA). A really lovely boy with sweet temperament. So proud of himself with good head carriage. Balanced head with dark brown oval eyes and jet black pigment with dark haloes. Beautiful body which was short and cobby with good spring of rib. Topline firm and level. He was in full bloom on the day with a lovely silky coat which is straight and just right for length. On the move he just glided around the ring with lovely profile movement holding his shape. BD and BIS

Special Pet Trim Bitch (2,0)

1st Welbourns Zumarnik Destiny- pretty and feminine with typical outline in profile. Balanced head with nice skull shape. Solid body with good front and rear. Typical feel to coat.

2nd Wasilewska XK/MKCH/AL/BA/ME GCH My Leya Satiamore (IMP POL) – excels in showing herself off and moves well not putting a foot out of place. Another with a very pretty head and pigment was correct with haloes. A little lean on the day.

Minor Puppy bitch (1,0)

1st Olivers Sarrasuma Made In Wonderland-RBPIS. I was very lucky to have such lovely puppies today. Very pretty with correctly proportioned head. Good eyes, muzzle and mouth. Correct pigment throughout. Short cobby body with lovely rib cage. Moving true out and back and in profile showing good reach and drive flowing around the ring. In the challenge for best puppy, the dog puppy was on best behaviour. I will keep a close watch on this promising puppy at the forth coming shows.

Puppy bitch (2,0)

1st Rycraft Leejuaston Missy Kiss Chase – Compact and cobby with iron rod topline. Appealing expression and good head shape. Pigment on the nose just a bit off on the day. Excellent coat; straight, silky and cool to the touch. Moving really well in all directions. Loved the flow she had in profile.

2nd Pascoe’s Omissilleb Hermione – excellent pattern and great pigment with lovely eyes. Has enough body. Topline needs to settle both standing and on the move but that looks to be because of her age and development. Sound movement and one with a good tail carried in an arch over her back. Now needs time.

Junior bitch (2,1)

1st Wasilewska Maltiamore Aisha Fairy Dust. Really nice to look at and go over. Well balanced. Excellent pigment. Firm level topline and good tail. Coat in excellent condition with correct silky feel. Super on the move both in profile and on the out and back. Now needs to mature and I’m sure she’ll go to the top sooner rather than later. RBB.

2nd Rycraft Leejuaston Missy Kiss Chase

Post Graduate bitch (1,1)

1st Jennings Benatone Issabella – smart little girl with sweet temperament. Rather an old fashion look to her. Beautiful in lots of different ways from her correct head to well conditioned body. Lovely level, firm topline and good ribs. Great silky feel to her coat and of good length. Plenty of reach and drive on the move. I liked her a lot. BB and RBIS.

Limit Bitch (1,2)

1st Rycraft Benatone Chelsea Boots – BVIS. A credit to the breed. Such a lovely head with correct pigment and used her medium length of neck going around giving great carriage . Cobby and short in body. Very free moving with strong rear action.

Veteran (3,0)

1st Rycraft Benatone Chelsea Boots

2nd Welbourns CH. Zumarnik Scanalous JW – super 10 ½ years old exhibit with lovely type. Excellent expression with correct dark brown oval eyes and black rims. Well bodied with excellent spring of rib. Correct feel to his coat. Still holds his topline going around. 1st just flowing that bit better in profile. Loved these two exhibits.
