COLLIE CLUB OF WALES OPEN SHOW – 25/10/25
Thank you to the committee of the Collie Club of Wales for inviting me to judge their open show on the 25th of October 2025. What a warm welcome I received from both committee and members. This was my first club show appointment and I am thankful for all those who took the time and effort to travel to this lovely part of our country. Most dogs were very well presented and there were only a couple of very dirty teeth and knots behind the ears. Thank you to my hard working steward Stephanie who helped me throughout the day.
Baby Puppy Dog or Bitch no entries
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0) 1st Lockyer’s Gataj I Got You Babe, and what a gorgeous baby of just 6 months he is. Good eye placement, lovely head for his age, good bone and feet. Still very shy and this showed on the move, but his day will come as he matures. BMPD
Puppy Dog (1,0) 1st Lockyer’s Gataj Strike it lucky, 11 months sable, this young lad certainly knows how to show off his virtues. Lovely ears well set which showed off his nicely shaped almond eyes. His body still needs to mature but he moves well. RBD/BPD.
Special Yearling Dog (1,0) 1st Edwards Beldones Mojito, 16 month sable and white dog. Up to size and what a stunning boy he is. Lovely shaped head with level planes, nice dark shaped eye. He used his nicely tipped ears to enhance his expression. Lovely arched neck into shoulders. Chest at this stage a little narrow, good length to height ratio. Good rear angulation and length of tail. His movement was very good and he tracked up well. Coat texture was excellent and he was well presented. I was pleased to award him BD/BOB.
Novice Dog no entries
Post Graduate Dog (2,0) 1st Lockyer’s Prince of Sunlight Thrilled by the Difference at Gataj (IMP HUN). Lovely shaded sable 2 year old with a good eye. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Length of back and rear hind quarters good. He seemed a little sluggish today and moved without real drive.
2nd Skinner’s Ladnar Makeithappen for Nickal, blue Merle dog of 2 years 9 months. Good colour. Stands well but his feet are a little flat. Good head and eye. Neck and shoulder’s well angulated leading into a nice length of back. Moved ok but maybe a little too fast today.

Veteran Dog / Bitch (3,1) 1st Benton’s CH Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW ShCEx this shaded sable girl is almost 11years, but you would not know it, she is one fit lady. Unfortunately she left all her clothes at home today. Her head handles well and her teeth are a credit to her owner, she has level planes and just enough stop. Lovely long neck, a little long in back compared to height for me. Moved well but a little too fast for her now. BVIB
2nd Skinner’s Samhaven Time is Money with Nikal, 11 ½ years old tricolour. She is now really showing her age, but was trying so hard to still show well for her owner. Her mouth could do with some attention but her head still handles well and she has a lovely eye and expression. She used her ears well. Lovely arched neck into well laid back shoulders, sadly that’s where it ended for this lady as time has caught up for her and it showed in her front movement.
Minor Puppy Bitch (3,2) 1st Lockyer’s Your Majesty Angel Silvestre Gataj (IMP BEL), sable girl of just 6 months whose head needs to settle as her stop still needs to clean through. She has a good neck and body, a good set of tail and super movement for one so young. BMPB
Puppy Bitch (5,1) 1st Carlton’s Lynnmead Dresses the Stars of Sambreeze, 11 months sable puppy still at the very playful exuberant stage, making life difficult for her owner as all she wanted to do was play. For me this bitch oozes quality when she focuses on the task in hand. Her head still needs to finish moulding but she has the correct eye and ear placement, a good stop and her expression melts my heart. Good neck into well laid back shoulders, super length of back with correct rise over loin, good width of chest. Her coat was in full bloom enhancing the overall picture in profile. When she moved out she really put it together and covered the ground well. It was my pleasure to award her BB/BPB/RBOB/BOSIB/BPIB
2nd Margetts Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale, 11 month sable, I could easily have swapped this puppy and my winner on another day. Her head handles well. She has a lovely expression from her well set ears which she uses constantly. Her eyes are beautifully dark although for me slightly fuller. Good neck and I preferred the overall length of back of the winner. This puppy was perfectly schooled and stood beautifully, moved OK for her age. In her second class this girl had really settled and relaxed into her frame.
Special Yearling (3,2) 1st White’s Corydon Crystal Aglitter, 1year 5 months shaded sable. It was this girl’s first show and she was quite rigid when being handled, so would benefit from going to ringcraft. She is a good size and has a lovely head and eye. Good length of neck. Her colour is glorious. Her front assembly is still developing at the moment, hopefully as she matures this will improve. Once she settled, she moved well.
Novice (2,1) 1st Margetts Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale.
Post Graduate (4,2) 1st Carlton’s Lynmead Royal Beauty of Sambreeze almost 3 years sable girl who was just not feeling it today. She has a stunning head with a fabulous expression. Good length of neck. Length to height ratio and tail length good. On the move she was so much more settled.
2nd White’s Corydon Crystal Aglitter
Limit (1,0) 1st Edwards and Bluck Paulara Lucy in the Sky for Elshajo, 5 year old jet black tri colour, who knows where the cookie jar is. Lovely head and eye. Ears are well used and giving an alert expression. Correct length to height ratio and coat in beautiful bloom, her coat was jet black and in excellent condition. She made her owner work hard but she got it together and moved well. RBB
Open (2,1) 1st Margetts Lynmead Lemonade for Collingvale JW, almost 7 year old blue Merle with a super dark eye. Head handles very well, with well set ears, but not using them to her advantage today. Such a lovely feminine shape to this girl but she seemed a little reluctant on the move today.
Smooths SAC this was my first time judging smooth collies. I am grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity.
Junior Dog or Bitch (4,0) 1st Wensley’s Blamorder Starstruck by Versatilis, 10 month sable girl of quality. She has a lovely head with a blunt wedge. Ears are good. She has a great neck into well laid back shoulders. Good length to height ratio and lovely rise over her loin. Her rear angulation was very good. She has absolutely super movement for one so young, she just needs time to settle and mature to complete the picture.
2nd Denton’s Coldelee Take it to the Limit, this 7 month boy is certainly eye-catching he has a gorgeous head and eye, he used his ears non-stop. Movement very good.
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch no entries
Open Dog or Bitch (3,0) 1st Benton’s ch Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle JW, five year old tricolour girl. She exudes femininity. A little unsettled today. Her head handles well with good under jaw. Good angulation which shows in her light effortless movement. She is one who looks like she could go all day.
2nd Rogers Blamorder Mischief Maker with Jerdoni 3 year old sable dog, a little strong in the head for me. Good neck and body. He was slightly erratic on the move today possibly moving at the wrong speed for him.
