Ann Niessen judging American Cocker Spaniels 28/09/25

Yorkshire Gundog Club. Premier Open Show

Firstly, I’d like to thank the officers and committee of Yorkshire Gundog Club for their kind invitation. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment; you are hardworking and extremely welcoming. Thank you to the exhibitors who supported me and travelling from near and far, it was a privilege to judge a quality line-up in our beautiful breed.

Puppy D/B (3)

1st – CLAY’S (G) AMERICLASS Dita Von PARTI 11-month-old black and white parti-colour bitch. An honest, happy youngster who moved with enthusiasm and clearly enjoyed her day. Feminine head of correct proportions with kind eyes, good width to the back skull, and a biddable expression. Well-angulated front and rear, with compact feet and clean dentition showing the correct scissor bite. Good spring and length of rib. Coat texture and presentation were both pleasing. Needs to settle more on the table but held a good topline when stacked. Balanced overall and showing promise. Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd MORRIS’S (B) and JEFFERSON’S (R) MYCALLEY’S JASMINE 6-month-old black and tan bitch. A lively and outgoing puppy who brought a smile with her enthusiasm—clearly enjoying herself. Very pretty head, everything in the right place. Good dentition and correct tail set. Nicely textured coat and well presented. Unlucky to meet a slightly more mature and settled puppy on the day. With time and maturity, this promising youngster is sure to go far.

Junior D/B (1)

1st MORRIS’S (B) and JEFFERSON’S (R) MYCALLEY’S JASMINE as above

Post Graduate D/B (1)

1st - MORRIS’S (B) and JEFFERSON’S (R) MYCALLEY’S SIROCCO JW Attractive black and tan male with a well-rounded head and a lovely, expressive eye. Good dentition and pleasing depth of chest. Maintained a correct topline on the move and covered the ground with ease. Tail set slightly high, but this is a minor point. On the day, his coat was a touch woolly. Happy to award him Reserve Best of Breed (RBOB).

Open D/B (2)

1st – DUMMETT’s (B) & VIKHROVA (T) NOVA STORY BOOGIE WOOGIE JW (IMP) Parti-colour male, lots to like here, lovely skull, correct eye shape, deep muzzle. Good dentistry and bite, compact feet, of good bone, strong neck leading into well laid-back shoulders, excellent muscle tone and moved with good drive, depth of chest, excellent spring of rib. Good temperament easy to go over. Best of Breed (BOB)

2nd - MORRIS’S (B) and JEFFERSON’S (R) MYCALLEY’S KOKO JW. Feminine and well put together, with a pleasing head, soft expression, plush muzzle, and good eye shape. Correct dentition. Balanced throughout with good spring of rib and strong hindquarters, moving with drive. Shown in good condition. Would prefer a little more depth of chest -this gave the edge to the first-placed dog on the day.
