2nd = Darnells Rubiltra Gunna B Victorious
Very attractive well balanced lad who needs time to settle. Masculine head with correct round eye. Strong neck set into excellent shoulders. Good rear quarters, excellent turn of stifle. Well let down hocks. The sloping ground didn’t help some of the toplines here. Just needs time.
3rd = Thomas-Bassetts Fiadma’s Stiggens at Skyleridge
Open Dog (4-2 Entries)
1st = Johnsons Ungower On The Road Again With Vapfumi
Have seen this lad before and still enjoy his absolute masculinity – no need to look underneath to see whether he is male or female. Well balanced fore and aft and in super condition. At 2 ½ he is just coming into his prime. Moved with drive. Sound on the up and back.
2nd = Darnells Rubiltra Mitaa Wimbo at Jacquidon
This boy just didn’t want to play today and so some of his qualities were hidden. Well balanced head with correct eye. Correctly made throughout, with fair angulation front and rear. Well let down hocks. Excellent feet. Would like to see him on a better day.

This girl was well balanced and with a super layback of shoulder which was evident in her beautiful, fluid, front action in profile. Typey feminine head and expression, with good underjaw. Good ribbing and correct length of loin. Making an attractive picture both standing and moving.
2nd = Thomas-Bassetts Bonfirebeau Red Skye at Skyleridge
Nicely made all through, a shade longer through the loin than 1st. Good length of neck. Good bone. Well let down hocks. Topline was ok. Moved well on the up and back and with fair drive from behind.

2nd = Sawyers Jax Teller at Stonelow
This mature parti-coloured boy at 10 ½ was just beginning to show his age. Fine ears, long neck. Good bone. Excellent depth of chest and spring of rib. Broad first thigh. Moved ok for his age.
Unfortunately, throughout the dachshund entry, there were several bad mouths in dogs of different sizes and coats. Which was both surprising and disappointing. Something to be watched for.

Good bone and feet. Took everything in his stride and moved sound and with excellent profile movement. Must have a bright future.

These two girls were both just out of puppy, and I forgave them a few imperfections because of their age. There was very little between them.

Shapely girl with a lovely head. Good length of neck into well placed shoulder and return of upper arm. Correct height to length ratio. Fair prosternum. Excellent topline. Moved very well.
2nd = Haywards Foxearth Time Flys
Unfortunately, this exhibitor left the ring before I had time to do my critique. However, I recall that she was a very pretty and shapely girl, who just didn’t want to play today. Her day will come, I’m sure.

Good length of neck leading to fair layback of shoulder and good return of upper arm. Excellent topline, and today he was on form! Sound moving with good extension in front, and drive from his rear quarters. What’s not to like?

Litter brother to the winner of the junior class. Like his sister, this boy had a beautiful head with lovely arch to his muzzle. Well set ears. Excellent bone and feet. Correct height to length ratio. Prominent prosternum. Moved sound and with excellent drive. Very little between these two.

Handsome, shapely red boy I liked a lot. He stood alone in his breed but could not be overlooked. Super head atop a long arched neck which led sweetly into his well-placed shoulders. Best of toplines. Correct prosternum and well ribbed back into short strong loin. Good rear quarters with well let down hocks. Moved as I knew he would – sound and with drive from behind and reachy front extension. Second in a very strong hound group.

This was probably one of the best Hound Group I have had the pleasure of judging. There were some super dogs that didn’t even get so far as shortlisted.
My winner was the Afghan who was super to go over, with a masculine head and the best of expressions. I just loved this boy’s classic sound, smooth and springy movement. He made a super account of himself in some very tough competition and just could not be denied.
